  1. It's a wonder I never lost a blinker as a kid.............I must have put 5000 BB's through the Crossman 760 as a young hoodlum, a few close calls too but no permanent damage. I still have a couple 760 guns but neither of them is the first one I had, that particular gun is in the Air Rifle Hall of Fame. Side note; a guy I work with IS missing a blinker from a BB gun incident. Not that its funny or anything but his older brother lost a blinker too to a BB gun also. I guess it was a case of tit for tat??
  2. You guys that scored, next year ask Santa for a camera. It'd be nice to share the memories with your friends.................... :(.
  3. growie.........not sure if you saw my post from last week: https://huntingny.com/forums/topic/36844-mature-bald-eagle/#comment-538181 Could be the same bird??
  4. Back at it in the morning?
  5. Chicken boobs; marinated in Wegman's Organic Lemon & Garlic. Grilled to perfection........ Brussels sprouts and twice baked potatoes round out the spread. And beer.
  6. Average year for me; three buck (two here and one in PA) and a couple doe. Happily I killed a couple with the bow and couple with the rifle. The ML'r came in last with just one notch......... Even though our daughter is away at school a fair amount we can still eat all I kill. Gun season continues to be my most difficult time. I feel like I'm a pretty at figuring things out for archery season then I revert to being a Happy Day Wanger when gun opens........
  7. I'm fairly confident there was NO overlap with either. He's a good guy and they were/are both good gals. As much as I love my wife, I would not want to hunt with her. Absence makes the heart fonder.......
  8. A friend of mine hunted with both of his wives..........and they both killed deer & turkey.
  9. Happy Birthday young lady. I bet you're having some form of venison for dinner tonight!! Enjoy your day.............
  10. Well heck, why were you so late? Shoot straight and lets see some pics.
  11. You must have been nervous that someone else was going to snag your spot if you're there already.
  12. Naaa....they'll destroy ALL hunting in NYS and the entire country, maybe the world.
  13. Not sure why you quoted me in this post.......my point is that the xbow is just an easier way to break the law because it's legal later in the season and guys just figure, screw it I'll use it all season. The bad guys got a taste of the ease of aiming and killing and want to use it all season.
  14. Long time no see. Welcome back............hunting mallards and wood ducks in cut corn fields can be incredible. FINDING the right field can be a chore but when you do, it;ll blow your mind. I've only done it a couple times because it tends to interfere with bow hunting too much. To find the fields, be out on the roads at first light and dusk, watching the skies for small flocks of ducks. If possible without getting in a wreck, chase them down in your car and see where they're feeding. They will hit those fields for a few days before moving on to something better but if you can find a good spot, find the farmer/landowner and ask permission. Most of the time they look at you like you're on crack. See, MOST people shoot ducks over water, not land. If/when you nail down permission, go to the field at mid day when they are back resting on water and dig a little pit blind. It doesn't have to be much at all, just scratch out a little depression to lay in, face up of course. Then, grab a small hunk of camo or burlap that'll cover you up pretty good. Put out a half dozen goose decoys (shells, silhouettes or full body) in the right position for their intended approach. (that stuff you'll need to read up on as my fingers are getting sleepy already and don't have much juice left in them) When the time is right, head on out to your spot, spread the dekes, lay in your little "hide", cover up and get ready for some action. No dog, no boat......no sweat.
  15. Funny thing; this fall while engaging in small talk with people who must have felt comfortable chatting with me, two guys (not related, don't hunt together, different counties etc.) admitted to me that they used the xbow all of archery season. Yea, from October 1st right through till the start of gun season. They said how in the heck is anybody going to tell as long as we have a vertical bow in camp and keep the xbow out of sight unless being toted into the tree stand? He man, do what ya gotta do. As the years go by, more and more guys (maybe gals too) will be doing the same thing. Wouldn't surprise me a bit. Idiots..............
  16. Google "Sissy Bed Liner"
  17. Well I'll be dipped, Happy Birthday TF. Whats the plan for the festivities today? I'm free after 5:00
  18. I always had a chubbie for those older Mountain Rifles.......I bought one for my friend Clark that I found on closeout 20+ years ago in .243 Winchester. Man O man was that a sweet little gun, too bad he gifted it to a nephew a few years ago.....
  19. You won't be offended if I say I have no interest in a 7mm mag either, will you?
  20. A Montana isn't much more than that 700 Mountain..........sell some platelets or sperm to offset the difference.
  21. How about the Kimber Montana in 243, 7mm-08 or 6.5 Creedmoor ??
