  1. Hornady,Speer,Sierra all sell hunting bullets for the 308 cal up to 200 grains
  2. I bought an Otter brand 6 years ago around $300.00 It is a molded plastic tub shape,I think ABS material I use it almost every other day behind my ATV I haul blue stone for stone walls, fire wood, dirt and every thing else,It has wide tires not thoes skiney things, and a tilt feature.I know we had at least 1000 pounds in it,It is on the move all year.I would definitely buy another one if needed.
  3. Ever since I can remember It said in all my small engine2 and 4 cycle to use high test gas, this is nothing new,Ethanol is just another form of alki.(it does not gum up parts) It degrades some of the materials in the fuel system.which might be the problem.Years ago if you had a race engine and ran it on methanol or ethanol, you would have to change a few of the internal parts of your carb.with compatable parts. The factory know this why aren't they putting the right pieces in.The answer is so they can sell parts.
  4. Maby it is hunted out, there were plenty of nice deer taken there when I belonged to the club or more poaching going on around it.
  5. And here is a picture of my old ride.Picture taken at The Sand Pit.
  6. Hey,Geno,I remember back when Nick M. worked for John in Bay Shore at Chassis Connection in the same building with George (Kooks) Sr. and Jr.
  7. Been shooting Arrow Dyn. Hunters for years, its the energy that gets the penetration not the speed.
  8. Bigger is better, any 3o cal.in most of the wooded areas of New York and a 12 ga. slug in the thicker parts. In the area I live a good number of hunters use some of the mag. calibers as an all around gun, there are a few areas where you could get a 200 yd. shot. But they still have the energy behind them for the thick areas.Too many people watch the hunting shows that are taped in the plains states and out west where you have wide open clear shots, the smaller calibers might work there, again with good shot placement.
  9. If You do not want to tan it and mount it and can't sell it let nature take its cuorse and the buzzards will take care of it or them.
  10. As soon as the snow is on the ground that is what I put on,Mark made me a set about 7 years ago.He advised putting in some extra pockets ,which com in very handy. They are still in good shape and still fit even though I put on some weight
  11. I have an Etrex that I have had for a wile and have a cable to hook up to a computer. It still works pretty good for what I use it for.
  12. Dexter Knives, they make all types,Not that expensive and are sold in catering supply and that type of store.
  13. Deer hunting only comes around ONCE a year,A lot of people save there vacations for this season Why shorten it,If anything start the Archery season October 1st.and let it end as now the beginning of rifle season. Since the X- bow season is going to screw one of the seasons up,next year.Go back to how it was years ago.A party permit with 3 people to one permit for Does. And only One Buck per Year per Hunter and no sighning over tags. That will get the heard back to where it was.
  14. Bubba you are right,Bob also has New and used Scopes.
  15. Give Bob a call at shooterscorner.com He is in NJ but no problem you get the proper form from your closest gun shop send it to him and he sends the gun to them.Great straight up people to deal with tell him about your situation,he will give you an honest answer. And a very large stock of rifles.
  16. Reminds me of a time years ago when we were younger an would stop in the local bar for a few after dinner. There was this older fellow sitting at the bar sipping on his drink and in walks a couple of fellows with wide pistol belts with ammo pouches and bwoie knives on them.He asked what are you going to do with them knives, they said gut the deer when we get them.He puts his hand in his pocket pulls out his folded kinife with a 3" blade and said I have been using this knife to gut deer for 55 years without any problems.
  17. Do not use your body parts to see if it is sharp. The best way to test if it is sharp is to take a piece of note pad or computer paper hold it on edge and if it is sharp you should be able to make 3/8" strips out of the paper with out it folding over.A good knife is made out of a good piece of steel and heat treated right to hold an edge.I have a kitchen knife I made 50 years ago and use it every day and it still holds a good edge.
  18. I use a clear plastic tube that cutting tools as routers come in 1/2" ID.Put my pyrodex pellets and the bullet in the tube with a small piece of foam to keep them from moving, take the cap off of the tube put he charge in the barrel then hit it with the ram rod.Keep a few in my pocket,The caps are in a spring loaded dispencer,Makes every thing easy.
  19. A ll the free range deer in NYS belong to all of the people in NYS not to group or person.I have a 10 pointer on my property that has been here on and off through the year,I would like to say he is mine but in reality he is not.I just hope he is smart enough to stay clear of the local baiters and jackers.
  20. Years ago when a lot of you were in diapers,This kind of weather was normal for the southern zone rifle season. We wore wool long johns, shirts, pants and coats.Ate a good meal and drank good liquid refreshments the night before,to keep warm the following 5 AM getting to our hunting spots.
  21. Do not rely on bore sighters,Here is what I have done on jut about all of my firearms.I found this on the internet years ago.It requires a vice mounted on a stable bench or table.A plum bob and a line level and a carpenters or machinest level. And a few trees or a piece of plywood.Put your firearm with some sort of padding in the vice ,level the receiver you can do it on the side and or the top if there is a machined surface. Then mount the scope where you want it in the rings, put a level on the top adjuster ,without the cap and level it.Snug up the screws a little amount on each screw and check to see if it is still level. If it is a bolt action remove the bolt.About 25 yards away mount a large piece of cardboard or poster paper on a tree or a piece of plywood.Take the plum bob and put it above the paper near the center and let it hang down with out moving and draw a vertical line. Now tale the line level and mount it to something so you can get a horozintal line near the center. You now have a just about perfect cross hair to sight your scope to.Now look through the barrel and try to get it perfectly centered with the crosshairs on your target. Now move the scope crosshars to line up to the crosshairs on the target, with out moving the firearm. Now fire it to see where you are on paper you should be pretty close.
