Live From The Woods 2019 Turkey Edition
Five Seasons replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Turkey Hunting
We made it 3.5 hours including hike in and slow half ass mushroom hunt back. Had a good time with the boy, but certainly not the activity I had a few weeks ago. Quiet enough that I’ll probably sleep in tomorrow and try one more time on Friday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

New Xbow legislation for 2019 introduced
Five Seasons replied to nyslowhand's topic in CrossBow Hunting
i've always supported the age and disability thing. Not sure I agree with removing the limitations though. So this muckies up the waters for this bill for me. also i dont understand this, Replaces the special longbow season with a special archery season and adds crossbow -
New Xbow legislation for 2019 introduced

pretty sure that's what a forum is about. -
my truck runs on liberal tears and dinosaur bones. Is that the boost button that scares off the prius owner next to me?

this was around 8pm last night. When I finally got home after picking up a new dishwasher because the old one decided to finally sh!t the bed. The lack of sunlight doesn't do our flowering trees justice and I tried to crop out some of the house in preparation for the next crossbow argument

I would recommend any trout or salmon angler try the above recipe. Honestly the hardest part is filleting the fish. After that, you mix up a quick brine and let her soak. Let them dry and then smoke. It's time consuming, but mostly a sit around and wait approach. Which for me just meant cleaning the pool, mowing the lawn, doing things around the house while they smoked.

mine is electric and it took about 45 minutes to get up to 150. And I held it between there and 175. Again it came out absolutely amazing. Just seemed to bleed more and not dry as well as the recipe and other videos indicate it should. But in the end if it tastes great and even your kids are scarfing it down, I guess it shouldn't matter right?

curious. what do you do with them all? I've heard they really need to be eaten close to picking.

i'm not sure what you read, but there aren't pictures there. Just a general 101 on morels. I'm not a mushroom guy, but my wife is. After reading that I feel like i might spend an extra few minutes while walking through the turkey woods to see if I spot any.

I did. It tasted good and not salty. However I'm not sure it brined long enough as the recipe gives some pretty wide ranges. I also had some pieces dry better than others. Had more albumin than I would have liked.

that right there is what it's all about. Congrats! -
I've had some pretty fishy tasting salmon from Ontario, so I'm always leery, but I can't be happier with how this turned out. I've never had my wife react quite the way she did to any wild game. Simply no fish taste at all and turned out great. Highly recommend for any trout or salmon. It's not really a lot of work either, just takes time to smoke. Shared with the neighbors and they also agreed. Heck even my picky kids devoured it. Vac sealed and froze the rest and hoping that they taste just as good down the road. https://honest-food.net/how-to-smoke-salmon-recipe/

it's based on season. I was a 3 sport athlete until Junior year. Football in the fall, basketball in the winter and track in the spring. What some would advocate for, is that you skip football and track and join travel basketball leagues or whatever. The time commitment is the same, or worse, but you're focusing on a single sport. I also gave up on the trumpet as a sophomore and boyscouts in 8th grade. Things have to give and I was working part time to put gas in the car and also became obsessed with the opposite sex lol.

sad to read this Village of Montgomery Orange County Wilderness Search: On May 9, Central Dispatch received a call from the daughter of a 52-year-old man from Brooklyn who had gone hunting in Stewart State Forest and had not been heard from since 10 a.m. The hunter's vehicle was located at a trailhead. At 11:56 p.m., Forest Ranger Lt. Ken Gierloff reported that the hunter had been located deceased. New York State Police (NYSP) and DEC Environmental Conservation Police Officers (ECOs) assisted Rangers with the recovery. NYSP is continuing the investigation. -
have a guy i went to highschool with in ontario. about 10 minutes east. eastside traders.

yeah poor zoomed in picture. not an ump, he's one of the coaches. In webster developmental all the kids are on the field and they go through the order or 3 outs (which never happens haha). 1st inning tee then coach pitch. kids are really just having fun and learning the basics.

Passed on the gobblers yesterday as my buddy offered me a spot on his boat. Spent about 7 hours on Ontario. Didn't crush them and the weather started to mess with us around noon, but we still had a good time on the water. I've got the kings and lone brown filets in a brine now. Will take them out tonight to dry and plan to smoke them tomorrow afternoon. Belo's adventures of smoking wild game continue haha. We also caught a laker but I've yet to meet someone who recommends eating an Ontario Laker. And yes, I know that's a sh!ty pic of the brown.

100% agree. Not till high school in my opinion does it become important to become more focused, and that's honestly only if your kid is truly starting to shine and has scholarship potential. Let kids have fun, help them to be well rounded, meet more friends and know that a lot of skills learned in any sport easily translate to others.
