  1. i call shenanigans on that kid being 14! congrats to the fam. you're doing it right!
  2. lawn mow #2 yesterday eventhough it was still a little wet, the upcoming week doesnt look good. With all this rain we're clearly in "mow in under a week" mode already. I'm happy with how green everything is, but can't even do the back yet because of how soft it is still.
  3. not with those bare spots! haha jk
  4. I know not everyone loves Rinella, but he has the #1 outdoor podcast and an estimated couple hundred thousand listeners each episode. I emailed them a few weeks ago to alert them to this topic and he actually brought it up in this weeks live episode. I thought that it was pretty cool and the more awareness the better. Starts around the 1 hour mark https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-meateater-podcast/id960902903?i=1000436052254 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. my 6 year old starts his first season of t/coach pitch this Thursday. So begins parenting and sports for the wife and I. My 4 year old starts t-ball in the summer.
  6. just did mine last night. It seems like every year there is something with my mower battery though. So last season the solenoid went bad in the fall and I got through the last 2 mows of the season by bypassing and jumping it. Over the winter I replaced the solenoid and the battery cables that have seen better days. I bought another battery tender and hooked her up. I'll be dammed, this season was going to start out right. I grab the battery off the tender which had still developed some decent corrosion on the positive terminal. I don't know why my mower battery does this and my car and motorcycle batteries don't. Anyhow, I cleaned it up with a wire brush and battery cleaner and hooked her up and filled up the tires. Nothing. Not even a buzz. mother f'r. check all the connections. cleaned off the terminals even battery, check voltages and all good. Try to jump it. Not even a click, so i know something is loose downstream. Maybe, despite careful research I bought the wrong solenoid. I try to bypass it because it's now 6:30 and I'm hungry and the sun is starting to set. She cranks but wont turn over. wtf... recheck all connections and find that there is this wire that splits off that goes from the positive to some unit somewhere. The harness to this small wire has one of those click in place plastic connections and it was loose. Secure the wire and she's golden... except i had drained the battery trying to bypass the solenoid. push it over to the truck and jump her and we're off and mowing. Super annoyed that i wasted all that time for something so little and dumb, but also happy it wasn't something expensive. the beer and admiration of the first mow was excellent and also reminded me that I am truly a dad at this point in my life. I think the worst part of this nonsense is that little cord has caused me grief before when I tried one of those generic battery cables, and why i special ordered a new one. I figured it went to the lights or something and it didn't matter, but I learned that it did and should have known better, but it was connected, I just couldn't see that it was loose. All i can think is that it goes to a safety switch or something. Thanks Husqvarna. Thanks for letting me vent even if nobody read this. I feel better
  7. papsmear, this is the comedy section for memes. not your agenda section. Please start another dozen threads so we can chuckle at water rat's quality selection.
  8. it was great and the sandwich today maybe even better. Now I really can't wait to get one to flop next week! call it motivation haha, but yeah you definitely don't want to have to move this bad boy. So waiting on your living situation is for the best.
  9. Easter smoked turkey was a success. I love this thing.
  10. all I can do with that picture is note that you probably have a few good stands in that hedgerow
  11. man i would have checked after miss number 1!
  12. I don't hate spring, but Mar-Apr is tough. Nothing growing yet, everything is muddy and the yard a mess. But most of all it's the dips in temps that seem to give me an instant cold and just plane annoys me. ps i have no idea how people can hate summer...
  13. do some searching on homemade honeypots. blurs the line a little on regulations because it's not really edible, so not bait but also above liquid amounts used for scent.
  14. it's setback farther than it looks in the pic, but yeah there's some "melting" already from a grease fire on the previous grill.
  15. eh, i like the part that confirms what archers have long been worried about. idiot gun hunter joins peaceful archery woods. And before someone says it, for those of us that hunt pressured small chunks of wood or public land, yes they do affect our hunting. not to mention nobody wants to see wounded deer because of said idiot.
  16. you know I agree, but many of my "adult" friendships have formed around this passion of mine, so I can see how in the right situation it might work out for somebody. Although I bet a good percentage of woman at the their hunters ed courses are getting a tag for their husband
  17. good point. Would love to have seen a kid on the cover of the report, although in full disclosure I'm sure they have been in the past.
  18. why would archery numbers be up if the rut was late? crossbow is at the end of the season. wouldn't you rather shoot a tom? more meat right?
  19. hey Wolc, I know you love statistics. Why are crossbow harvests down 8% from 2017?
  20. you know that ladies night is to get woman into bars so that men will want to go to the bars and spend their money right?
  21. no it's hunter recruitment and i'm all for it. Just never a huge fan of it being shoved in my face.
  22. i'm surprised that bow take increased with how poor the weather was. I know gun season was ideal and i think that helped those numbers go up, especially after last years opening day weekend was hurricane and this was a crisp fresh snow. what's up crossbow dudes? -8%?
  23. this will come across as snowflake male, and it's not my intention because i support it, but man are they pushing woman in the outdoors or what?
  24. It also would be interesting to know how that 15k translates. Statistics and polls always fascinate me because of their variables. For example, is a guy who cuts up his own deer more likely to shoot younger bucks or vise versa? I do totally understand that they use what they have, but it's something that makes me think.
