  1. i think the rub with this one isn't that he was caught, it was that he self reported and was handled the same as someone who was caught. listen i've disclosed many violations to the epa. there is always a penalty or mark against us, but it's always less than if we didn't self report.
  2. my compound is 70lbs and kills deer just fine.
  3. they are beatable but they're healthy and tough. Best thing for us is that they're new to this too and their qb could lay an egg. note they didn't have anything at stake the last game.
  4. if the bills were smart they'll keep him game time even if they know he's playing. game planning for him will be a lot different for the jags then planning for him.
  5. that is funny indeed. Wish we got to know them better. Hope they're doing well now. Are they still in Alden?
  6. good point. All I'm saying is that I can relate to the mistake. And if we're playing make believe, if I had a narrow window at a buck that I thought was a shooter it sure would suck to miss the window because his head was behind some branches. Thems the rules, I agree and this guy should have waited another day. But there are those of us who only get 1 or 2 opportunities on a buck during a season and all I'm saying is that i can relate. for the record I'm not an AR guy.
  7. by and large they do not carry .22's. for the very reason you mentioned is the very reason I'd take a few less rounds for a superior cartridge like the .30 carbine. or a 9. forget humans, if i had to feed myself, I'd like to eat more than just squirrel.
  8. i agree. in my younger days I shot a spike i was sure was a 6. Even a recent buck I thought might have been a 6 and it was a 4. in the heat of the moment, I rarely count points at all. It's usually just "does that look like a shooter rack" or not. I am a bigger fan of spread and beam restrictions, although they are flawed as well.
  9. that sounds like our neighbors, didn't get to know them real well so not positive on the names. they had a pool in the back near the creek. guy rode a harley i think? a couple dogs i think. they sold their house around the same time we did?
  10. i'm sure why it hit such a nerve. the whole thing is clearly pretend... that's the fun of it. before you leave for good can you please just answer my question though. Why does leo and military not carry .22?
  11. Jacksonville doesn't have a great base. I have a feeling this will be a borderline home game for us. convincing starving bills fans to go to florida when it's single digits? yeah that's a hard sell! Just hoping shady can play even a little. their d is solid.
  12. yeah that's kind of what I know in my heart to be true. Our pop isn't threw the roof, but they're there. I guess I haven't been convinced the yote hide is worth the trouble.
  13. We were only there for a few years so only met a few folks. I know the house though. I believe it was 2009-2012 about 2.5 years in that time frame. moved to rochester for work and to be closer to family.
  14. there's little kick on a good .223 AR platform too. And an AK isn't all that bad either. this is interesting http://www.survivalistboards.com/showthread.php?t=159381
  15. i'd rather he keep his deer and lose his tag. so now for his mistake he doesn't get to kill another buck all year (assuming only 1 buck rule anyhow), but at least keeps the meat. if it didn't pass ARs it's not like this was a trophy he lost. or maybe loses next years tag or something? I just hate seeing the guy lose the meat.
  16. something else kinda funny is 40 yards from his house. that's like in your back yard lol.
  17. a few years back i forgot to call in a doe i shot. she was harvested legally and taged. When i remembered it was past the deadline so I went online and searched frantically to see if there were any exceptions. After all, I assume they want honest data for better or worse. All I could find was the strict reporting time frame. I was still tempted to report it as I feel the dec is too high on their doe numbers in my area and data like this will help better educate them. However, for fear of stories like the one posted I didn't. And honestly that's a sad state to live in.
  18. used to live on s blossom lea just off 4 rod. house backed right up to the creek. I miss that area, but not the house.
  19. I appreciate that. these temps aren't helping but I'll let you know.
  20. this is why i picked the m1 carbine. .30 isn't that much bigger where I lose a ton of ammo storage. I'd also pick a short stocked rifle that shot 9mm over the 22 before i picked the 22
  21. you're both talking about well placed shots. Please see my previous post about how easy these well placed shots are under a defense situation and if not, something that every deer hunter knows is never a certainty. So why can't i deer hunt with a .22 if it's so magical? Why don't armies and leo's pack this wonder cartridge? Why does just about everybody on this board when asked about home defense point to a short barreled shotgun? and statistically do you think more people drop from a .22 or more keep on trucking after 15 shots from a .40? (a story ive never heard of btw).
  22. I'm not sure you really refuted any of my statements other than getting really triggered about a healthy debate, certainly no lecture. My statement wasn't "would you get as far away as possible". It was, what would you choose if you knew there was some bad shit coming your way, and if you don't want to go all apocalypse, lets pretend there's a riot outside your home (not unheard of these days). You're telling me you really grab your .22? As an infantryman and MP, did you carry .22's? If not, why? Did they teach you about meth as an MP?
