Five Seasons replied to Water Rat's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
the military isn't affected by the shutdown... -

sometimes when things didn't go as plan it's easy to get angry and annoyed. Natural human emotion that we all need to work on. this is the internet in general. -
Chops to be busted and plans to be made...

I’m not sure I remember the discussion, but I think that’s in Blo? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I still think the hardest part about archery is getting the deer close and not being busted on the draw. At that point this site should really just help reduce poor shots that are going to be take. Regardless of the site. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

This deserves its own thread. I’d love to hear your thoughts. I met a bunch of local car forum guys a few times and recall the same experiences. I’m still up for beers sometime with Rochester area folks, but too lazy to organize it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

Whatever happened to that crazy chainsaw dude? That’s what I imagine anyhow. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Yeah I’ve heard a lot of good things about prime bows. I think the triad will come down in spring. Ultimately I’m going to enjoy shooting all of them before I spend my tax return haha. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

a lot of bitching and discussion here http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.php?t=5354287

what is interesting is that this thread is almost all experiences that others have had that we shared in. Show an anti-hunter this thread and maybe they'll realize the "trophy" is rarely the biggest deer we've killed.

really i graduated in 02 and still had shop and home ec in middle school. Man did i hate home ec. really skills kids need in my opinion. how much harm can come from one semester on basic tools and one on basic "how to survive and cook, sew and iron" lol.

bear hug from my dad when i shot my first deer. I am sure it will be replaced by bear hugging my own sons someday.

i use the hoppes foaming spray and the t3 elite oil (i think that's what it's called). I am by no means an expert on the subject but I think they do a good job. Most guns were designed to be abused. It's the blackpowder gun that i'm really anal with.

This is pretty cool, a little more tech then I would probably ever want for my traditional season, but still...

Trophy on CNN @ 9 tonight. What did you think of it
Five Seasons replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat
generally curious why you say that. -

Achievement-oriented Motivations for Deer Hunting

bingo. Also conversely shooting an older male should be seen as a positive. This male has had a chance to live a life and breed. Where as shooting smaller deer takes the life earlier before the animal is fully developed and experienced life. looking at it solely from an anti's viewpoint I would think they would be for trophy hunters who eat the meat and target older males. I consider myself a trophy hunter as I set out to shoot the biggest buck I can. Doesn't always work that way, but they all get hung up and processed just the same. -
Achievement-oriented Motivations for Deer Hunting

I bet most of us hunters spend equal or more time walking, scouting and prepping than we do hunting. The hunting part is the award for the work. Plus there is no challenge to sit in a tree in march. There is a challenge to harvesting a deer. I personally enjoy the woods therapy more than anything, but not far behind is the challenge and excitement when I achieve my goals. 3rd is good meat for the family. -

I don't understand "to use my hunting equipment". If you weren't a hunter why do you have these things? I'm a traditional path hunter but I've never once hunted because I felt I needed to put my expensive gear to use... hunting for meat for a nsph seems right on though. Generally a modern hunter sees the value in the pursuit of the free range organic and animal that "has a chance" vs the hormone pumped up cow. -
I'm sure it's mostly rural schools. My oldest starts kindergarten next year so it'll be some time but generally programs like this need some support to get pushed though. I sure will try to do my best for webster when he gets older and than all 3 can participate. I'm sure there will be plenty of push back, but sometimes people are more reasonable than we expect.

good luck with the coues. I hear they're one of the hardest deer to hunt. -
Saw this in my weekly DEC digest email. Hope is not lost!
