  1. but back on topic. i see no reason to stay smoothbore. the ammo discussion comes after the fact. a rifled barrel will always be more accurate.
  2. I've lost some deer with my litefields too. Regardless an sst should still do just fine going through those lungs. I guess time will tell for me. Mable I shouldn't have bought 4 boxes lol.
  3. no, and good point i guess i shouldn't tout them until i kill something. I only shotgun hunted twice this year as most of my spots are rifle. I did notice even on paper how much smaller the hole was, but they grouped better for sure. The litefield has dropped many for me and I've never even tried over 100 yards with them and would probably never need to. I will admit that the litefield is significantly heavier than the sst so it will be interesting to see if the devastation is even close as compared to the litefields.
  4. haven't been out since kids and no real desire to. with the temps staying single digits this weekend, i dont see it changing this year.
  5. agree. used to shoot litfields. they're very expensive and changed to hornady sst's this season as they seem to shoot better and can be found on sale at dicks for $10 a box. much better than the 15-20 litefields went for.
  6. something i also realized in my research is that my switchback has a 65% letoff. I'm a strong enough guy and have no issues with that. Will be interesting to test the newer 75% letoffs.
  7. i've posted it a few times. right around 3 minute mark
  8. I have no horse in this race, but what I gather from everything is that the guy is a solid hunter and not only shot a beautiful bear, but did the right thing and all the hard work to get him out. (something a bunch of us had real issue with on the other giant bear thread on this forum as that hunter gave the bear to the dec). But I know when I hunt somewhere, especially public land I want to be damn sure I know all the rules and regs and have it all in writing. When i hunted national forest land down south they were all clearly spelled out online and available to everyone. Posted at the trailheads etc. I would certainly have issue with shooting a bear if it wasn't in writing that i legally could. Could you imagine taking the word of a misinformed ranger or clerk? instead the headline reads "hunter poaches bear from letchworth". This matter was very poorly handled by the park in my opinion. I understand them wanting to limit take, but you can still put it in writing and not advertise it... or do a lottery permit system.
  9. this is not limited to parks. this is the world haha.
  10. i am with you 100% on speed. I only shoot 35 and under and truthfully most have been 20 and under. I've never had string jump, but I do like that a lot of the newer bows are much deader in the hand than my switchback. Looking for a better valley too.
  11. i have generally everything i "need". There will never be an end to a list of "wants". I'm fortunate enough that my dad has the atv (probably the most expensive thing past land and truck). Truck is a year old and I have land. so next comes the bow
  12. my site has a battery powered "illuminator" for the pin. I've never once shot with it on, but i would be a liar if I told you I haven't turned it on in a few situations. but that's bow season. anyone with a half decent scope can see at these times just fine.
  13. has anyone ever met someone or even heard of someone who has gotten this ticket though?
  14. that guy shot 45 minutes after light and across a road and on to someone's property. stop using that idiot as an example for a stupid law.
  15. I have found one thing to be true in the meat processing world. All meat is generally the same and you don't need to overpay for something because cabelas or gander put its name on it. Most commercial products that are highly reviewed will do a good job. i can't speak highly enough about my grinder that i've put a dozen or so deer through now. Check the specs compared to some of the "outdoorsman" models and it's at least $100 cheaper and does awesome. comes with the sausage stuffer too. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012KJBR0/ref=od_aui_detailpages01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 also check your process. I double grind as i assume most of you know to do. start with the widest plate, go through once then go down to the small "spaghetti" plate for the second pass.
  16. The recurve is on the agenda when kids get a little older. I defiantly plan to shoot some elites Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. That’s why you take your orange off in the stand [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. 7 rounds in a mag, ban of Black scary guns, smoking weed, having to brush snow off your car, catalytic converter inspections I’m a thug ass criminal. Should I go on? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. It’s hard to write new things about deer hunting. It really hasn’t changed a lot haha. I like d&dh. But I don’t food plot and notice a lot of the “new” stuff is basically farming lol. But I still pick up good tips Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Watched the second one last night. Doesn’t even get close to hitting the mark he first one did Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. This is kinda funny. I was just telling the wife at the beginning of last episode how I’d like him to be gone. Just annoying. Funny too to see him just as tall as rick as they walked down the road haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Yeah that’s my struggle with a 30” draw. I imagine I’ll start seriously looking in February and plan to shoot the heck out of everything Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Need a new rest and string. And looking for a little smoother draw. Kinda like when your truck needs new brakes and tires and you know a new one will have some nicer features. Plus Trump should be putting some more money in my wallet haha. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. don't take it serious, i'm just busting your balls and you're biting.
  25. kinda where I'm at. I dont think any modern bow would do me wrong. I still feel perfectly comfortable with my current bow.
