  1. Mine is close to the same, but certainty a little less stringent on scent. Still wash all my gear and shower with scent free stuff, probably spray down less and wear less scentlok. My hunting properties tend to rely on pressure to bump them my way and no longer natural movement or the rut.
  2. you're not far off. it's why i hate gun season. just curious "doe whacker" because you want to make it personal. What is the size of the property you hunt? How has your mature buck hunting gone lately?
  3. there are a bunch on this very site. And billy bob does the same dumb shit during gun season and keeps coming back. why would he throw his $1k investment in the closet?
  4. no. bucks will still move. but they move at night. don't be silly.
  5. ditto. orange hat minimum even on private land and same with the headlamp. if tracking or hunting more trespasser prone land in 7j, the vest goes on as well. I recommend the frog togs vest that zippers up into a ball and can just be thrown in the pack easily.
  6. i think boots are a lot like gloves. there are different types for different seasons. Many of us, myself included try to buy the one pair of hunting boots. But your 10/7 boot will not be ideal on 12/7 and vice versa. I have a good pair of rocky pack boots but only bust them out on the coldest of cold because i can barely walk any hilly terrain in them. My mucks are my go to, but I'm thinking of trying to find a lighter pair for early season and turkey. I have the woody max which aren't as warm as the arctic pros. More of a middle of the road temp. I counter this with thermacell liners and a good layered sock approach.
  7. muck's are the shit. try to find them on sale. You'll easily get 10 years out of them and that averages out to like $10 a year.
  8. never said it was all bad. Just that gun hunters are statistically more careless deer hunters. I will repeat, that does not mean all gun hunters are, nor that bowhunters are exempt. So new "gun only hunters" to the archery woods does bring on a different breed of hunter to the season. As a big QDM guy, I'm a little surprised that you're so nonchalant about what others do. I am an advocate for happiness and hunting how you want to hunt. But I also agree with education on proper hunting tactics, selective deer harvesting, scent control, not pounding the piss outta the woods etc. To get any deer, let alone with size within 30 is no easy task. The big boys cannot take pressure and go nocturnal quick. I bet 95% of us hunt property sizes less than 100 acres and this means we deal with neighbors. You may not agree, but do you not see how added pressure from uneducated crossbow hunters (this is assuming they are currently gun only) does not affect us? This is the question i get asked and i try and answer. "how does it affect you, why do you care". And this is my response that nobody seems to be able to properly dispute. There is nothing illegal or unethical about the crossbow hunter, but it is why I am not a proponent of full inclusion.
  9. i have no issue with hunting 30 min before and after sunset. we all know how well you can see at these times. I do have issue with shooting 200 yards at this time with a pistol at was obviously a human. I can only hope he was shooting at the yellow lab and missed. That is not acceptable, but easier to understand that he thought it was a deer.
  10. one walks at 45 and he's dead with a crossbow and not with a compound. agreed.
  11. hunt a little public land or read the news. Heck my boss in florida was joking with me today that when she heard about the hunter who shot the woman she was glad it wasn't me.
  12. Eh I’ll take my bonus points on the card. I carry cash of course but sure will suck if you lose the wallet, Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. Lol not bad? A beauty! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. Well you gotta post the kill shot of that brute! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. Let’s be honest though when’s the last time you’ve heard of someone getting caught? Pretty sure it’s a bs fine too. Most baiters who do it knowing it’s illegal don’t have much of a moral compass, so only those that do suffer. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. So do you have a video? Not familiar with them Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. Unless of course you want to rip tobacco lol. It’s not even illegal to “use” a salt lick. Like farming and what not is fine, same with bags of corn. It’s illegal to use pot in the bong just like you can’t feed deer. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. The bond I share with my father, uncles, cousins and grandpa before he passed is right up at the top of the reasons I hunt. Hope someday all 3 of my boys will say the same. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. Might be a little harder for the ladies, although so just peeing off the stand lol Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. It’s the same question one can ask when hunters shoot each other or people walking dogs. I get it that you can sit for a long time, sometimes many days without seeing anything and just get so excited and don’t want an opportunity to pass but discipline is important. I have a few shots I didn’t take that sometimes I think maybe I should have, but I know it’s better to regret not taking one, than to wound. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. Oh boy there’s one every year. Never legal in NY. Now you know. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. Lol you missed the rut bud. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. Is that a light or laser? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. I do have a distaste yes because the causality if this type of hunter is often disrespectful, litters, cheats and gives the rest of us a redneck billy bob stereotype I know most of us hate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. And even humans. That’s why I said “mostly” haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
