Nonresident hunting in ny with 30 cal ar

so followup, because I've followed your build. Why did YOU choose the 700 for a build and not an AR? iirc didn't you sell an AR to help fund the build? I guess I see how that's different -

I just don't believe anyone goes looking at ARs when thinking about a deer rifle. If people are, then I want to know why. Maybe I'm missing something. How many guys hunt with autoloaders? I know it's personal opinion and choice, but if a survey was done, i bet good bolt action is what the majority of guys hunt with. I do have a browning gold edition slug gun. It's semi. I've fired more than 1 round only twice, and both times I didn't really need to. Again, welcome to the forum. Your typing skills and attitude should really help grow this site and take it to the next level of intelligent debate. -
i picked up a quaker boy push button this spring. i love quaker boy and they received better reviews over the primos and mad push buttons. Honestly, the thing is junk and a waste of money. very disappointing.

totally agree with everything you just said. But what's the price difference between a properly setup AR and a Ruger American bolt action or savage axis? 2 guns that are under $400 and have rave accuracy reviews in all hunting and NRA magazines? Keeping in mind I own many guns, pistols and have 2 cc permits. I am not arguing against "the evil black gun". -

i have shot several ARs of various calibers, makes and models (they're not evil where I live). I'd own one if it wasn't for the fact that I don't feel I need one and usually find something else to spend my money on. They're great guns and I know they shoot straight and take out deer and other game just fine. Maybe it's that I think of deer hunting kind like a sniper. 1 shot, 1 kill. And most snipers use variations of tje AR platform that are not what I'm picturing the OP is talking about, or they use bolt actions. And maybe it's because I've seen or heard much about hunters using them. So for the final time, I am curious as to what would make someone want to hunt with one, let alone someone from out of state risk NY's crazy laws. -

hey welcome to the forum. Great way to get a good name for yourself by calling someone an ahole before you know anything about them. I guess I needed to say more than 3 times THAT I WAS JUST FREAKING CURIOUS. -

I know exactly what I'm comparing. Generally most hunters use a bolt action because of the accuracy and because they don't need 30 rounds of 223, plus the AR is much more expensive. So I'm trying to understand why someone would want to hunt with one. Not arguing, just curious. -
what's the point of this?

yeah not trying to turn it into a debate. Just curious I guess. I can buy a ruger american for ~400 with a economy scope. I can't buy any AR for that that I know of, and the american is meant for hunting. is it "just because"? -

ditto. what are you hunting with an AR anyhow? Not trying to derail the thread, I know some do hunt with them, just a little odd to me when there are better models at generally cheaper prices and optics. -
im no expert but also interesting that they'd be using energy sparing. Have to think they're pretty tired from a long hard winter...

Currently I make next-gen Jet Engines. But more literally I run the EHS dept. for a site that makes parts that is part of a very large company that makes the jet engines. Chronologically (I'm 31) strawberry picker, tops cashier, tops grocery stockboy, dishwasher at a country club, lawn and garden for chase pitkins, cutco knife salesman, sears appliance salesman, house painter, summer intern at kodak, EHS for a chemical company in Buffalo, EHS leader for an electronic communications company in Rochester.

not sure why we go over and over ads on here. run firefox with adblockplus and you're add free. it's that easy.

and I've done the same. I've decided to go with less cams but use better quality brands and models I trust than to put more cams out that i can't trust. But there's a sucker born every minute and primos will keep making their money. In a hunting store near you in a shopping cart: bag of B&J corn cheap primos cam ozonics 1/2 dozen garments from scent lock redneck blind

The average Joe likes the trail cam idea. Walks into the store and doesn't want to pay the same price for a can he paid for his rifle and picks up the cheapo. Then he's mad at what he gets. So they will keep selling.

I used to work for a company that made outdoor wireless equipment. They were housed in aluminum cases, coated and rugged components and cost almost $2k. So now we add a camera and expect more for less?
-
i wonder if we expect too much from electronics we put out in the woods through all sorts of crazy weather. Not saying a company shouldn't stand behind it's product, but remember what it is you're asking for. There's also a reason some cost >$300 and some are under $100.

must have been cleaned up because I dont see anything

generally i tend to agree. They're on the level of walmart brand cereal. If what you need something basic and cheap they're ok. Still enjoy some of their older educational DVDs though.

If they monitor this site, they probably assume we're all a bunch of right wing nut jobs too. It doesn't help that we bitch with each other either, but I will say there's been some good passionate hunting debates here that have helped enlighten me.
