had one crawling on my hand on saturday. flicked it off. wife found one fully engorged walking across our carpet. think it came off the dog, even with his advantix...

the mossberg 835 is essentially a 10 gauge so it really absorbs the kick a lot better. I put a limbsaver recoil pad on it, and it's not horrible for 3.5" shells. It's a cheaper gun as well, but I have no complaints.

what if i shot a bolt out of a gun using compressed air?

Proof of pushing this? Last I knew they were pushing to not legalize it... Never to make it easier...

my wife went to one at palmac high school. they had to track a blood trail. My wife who had tracked some deer with me followed a trail that nobody else saw. Some teen boys were kind of tagging along with her. It led nowhere and when she asked the instructor about it he said they forgot about that one and gave her credit for spotting the small drops.

now I'm an anti. lol. The only anti is the governor who passed your bill... and that other one. All I did was ask a question about new hunters... because that was the biggest argument for years... and sits said he knew of new hunters entering the woods, only to then say he didn't.

How does this picture make you feel?

someone's own accomplishment is just that. Their own. If I can speak for jjb, I believe it's when the hunter who post the picture conveniently leaves out the fact that it was fenced, or in the case of the guy from watertown last year, they even flat out lie. It's deceiving to leave out the fact that your trophy was cadged. On the otherhand, I think some people think a cadged hunt means 5 acres, and that's not usually the case but it's not a free animal when it's been bread and controlled. No different than a cow or steer. -
You know of guys who have never hunted before going out and spending a grand on crossbow and planning to hunt for the first time ever this fall?
-
Excluding youth; do you really think there will be hunters entering the woods for the very first time?

I totally agree. While I'm not offended by pictures that aren't tastefully done, I know some who can be. yes there is a very non-glamorous part to hunting... it doesn't mean we need to document it, let alone share it. I usually take a dead on the ground cell phone pic and send it to my buddies. But I'm always sure to take a nice pic later that I can keep, possibly frame and share with other non-hunters. This is by far one of my favorite pictures ever, and it's not even in my top 3 nicest bucks. Deer dragged back into the woods to better recreate the harvest, leaves covering the gutout, wound brushed over and tongue tucked in. -
shot .22's at my class 18 years ago.

amazing how archery equipment doesn't require a bowhunter course though isn't it? Fill me in with some facts... Where and when can I hunt with my legal hunting implement the crossbow, today April 16th? And if our great conservation dept. does such a good job explaining it, why are members of the site asking all these questions? Have you sent your thank you note in yet?
-
It is a legal hunting implement and there is no season that allows it to be used? Still not even sure what level of training or education or licenses is needed to use one? I guess that's not confusing at all huh? I think I could deal with you if you stopped using the word FACT, in every sentence. If the bowhunter course isn't required, then the whole thing has really proven what a lot of use have thought all along.
-
Thanks. If I read that right they're not requiring bowhunter safety? Just general hunting?

this site and our government and the lobbyist do a poor job sometimes with communication. While the budget gave the DEC the authority to do so, there is still nothing in the rule books. It is sill just as illegal to hunt with one as it was a few weeks ago. I actually would be surprised if they update it for turkey. My bet is the next reg book that comes out in the fall will have it.

clubs aren't as big up north as they are down south, but I'm sure someone could point you in the right direction if you narrow down your area.

I have yet to meet a hunter who was against removing hens from the fall season... but I've also only met one who ever shot a hen in the fall. Maybe at least limit them to youth? oh and add on a year round season for yotes.

Finally doing it.....moving to Rochester area

agreed. I think NW wayne is more Monroe county. The population has grown and the hunting land shrunk. The areas that are left have consolidated the deer. Those that are hunted hard do not produce as much and then there are those that are managed and hold big deer... and those where no hunting is allowed. So if you're on the border of a sanctuary and a hot doe bring that mature buck out then you're money. The rest of the county is pretty open and hunted pretty hard. The areas I hunt are small enough that the neighbors really do affect our hunting. It's probably why I feel the way I do about some subjects. I know they're not my deer, and the neighbors can legally shoot those BBs... but I can't help but feel how I do. our best stands are in the middle of the thickest, nastiest stuff you could imagine. They require trail trimming twice a year and usually are a half day job... dad always said you have to put in the time and if you do it will reward you. my 5 acre spot held some of the biggest bucks I've seen on cam. Don't underestimate it. Plant some apple and pear trees if you don't have any. -
I'm exactly the same during deer season. I have my mind made up on size of buck or if I'm going to shoot a doe... and sometimes I change my mind at the spur of the moment based on a variety of things. I passed doe, upon doe during mz. Each time I entered the woods I was hoping for a buck but told myself I needed some more meat and would take a big mature doe, only to let them pass. One snowy day I decided that the last big doe in a line of 7 was going to be downed and I did.

NW wayne county is funny. There are some record producing honey holes. Then there are some areas that are pounded into the ground and hunted relentlessly. There is also a fair amount of nuisance tags and hunters. But I'm not sure that statement isn't true for any hunting area. I do know that one of my spots fluctuates greatly based on corn being planted or not. The other area is a little spot that does very well because of the surrounding pressure. -
part 2. If you have already shot a Tom, would you shoot a jake as your second bird? Or would you shoot 2 jakes? Personally, I would shoot the first bird I saw because I haven't been turkey hunting long... but I would not shoot 2 or would I shoot a jake if my first bird was a tom. Just me, and I hold nothing against those who hunt legally.

yes because a list of facts and a survey posted on lobby groups website for its members to take are one in the same... you're such a joke.
