  1. not necessarily. Some used trucks are going for more than new right now.
  2. yes buying out a lease on a below turn-in mileage truck is a good move right now. Some things to consider off the top of my head. When does the warranty end? By buying it and not leasing a new truck you're going to run out on that at some point and it's good piece of mind for many. Are there any even minor issues that you'd like to be rid of? Is it missing any tech you wish you had? Is the newer version of what you want even available? Mine runs out in the fall and I'm worried my next truck wont even be there for me to pick up. And finally, what kind of financing can you get on the buy-out? If you can't get a good rate, the extra equity might be chewed up in interest on the loan. Final, final thought. I know some guys buying their leases out, flipping them and then buying or getting a new lease if you can deal with the gap and paperwork.
  3. I recently bought 4 off road "toys" all cash and none of the dealers would haggle because they were dealers who had something in stock and by the time I was done they already had multiple cash offers for the same thing at sticker. I had to go to 3 different dealers just to piece it together. Today's market for wheeling and dealing sucks balls.
  4. studies actually show that outdoor rec is one of the fastest growing hobbies, particularly among the younger generation. They're being blamed for being lazy and not wanting to work because they'd rather travel the world. They're asking for more vacation time instead of pay increases. They're being blamed for ruining elk habitat by inadvertently bumping and pushing them in the spring when they're hurting from the winter.
  5. that's not really a new thing. I started gun hunting at the legal age of 16. Come from an entire family of deer hunters. I hunted opening weekend and a few days during thanksgiving week. I wasn't not hunting because of videogames. I was either in highschool or college. I had a gf, I had a job, I was playing football and yes I was more motivated to go to a party than to deer hunt. By 24 I had my first bow and things changed. I think it's easy for "older" folks to want to blame videogames, but that's not it. Keep kids interested and exposed and when they have time they will either fall in love with it or they wont.
  6. Most hunters now seem to be tree toads. When I was a kid, there were all sorts of boots on the ground pumpkins with their 870's pushing deer around. Now everyone is in a tree and nobody is pushing.
  7. there's an argument that it wasn't about personal protection either. But of course one could argue that us citizens having the ability to defend ourselves against a tyrannical government could be part of that. By and large though, it wasn't about protecting yourself from being robbed.
  8. there were a few that chimed in. No reason for me to start more drama so I'll leave it alone haha.
  9. I agree that everyone is different and so is their financial situation. I guess my point is that it's hard NOT to find an interest rate under 3% and there are conservative, safe investments that will get you that easily. I didn't mean to imply that someone should take that $60k and play with their etrade account. I'm a cash guy too, just not for home, cars or student loans. Thankfully the last one is in rearview.
  10. I do. I have it down to a science. It's not a money thing, it's a trust thing for me. I've had some bad experiences with valvoline and similar places. If I do it myself, I know it was done right. Part of the reason I do my own deer butchering too. I will add that I use the free dealer changes when I get them as I trust the dealer techs.
  11. the guys you're talking to don't strike me as the investing type. I also get not wanting a payment or debt, but financially it doesn't add up to spend that kind of cash, we're talking $60k for a new truck when you can make more investing it then you ever will pay in loans. Hell my wife's expedition was 0%.
  12. lol so much financial ignorance. If leasing isn't for you, that's fine. It doesn't work for everyone. But you don't need to speak in absolutes when your situation is different from others.
  13. Bored Belo spent 5 hours in the woods today cutting trails and scouting. Brought the .22 in case the bushy tails were moving but none were. Everything froze that I brought with me except my can-am. This might be the first "somewhat" live from the woods post in a few days.
  14. I’ve done it once. It was right before the rut and a doe I shot was right off the wheeler path. I hiked back, threw her on the wheeler and gutted her back behind the house as I didn’t want to draw more stink and predators to the spot. In this situation we’re talking maybe 30 minutes extra though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. We get it, you’re big into turkey. This conversation has everything to do with whitetails and nothing to do with turkeys. Nobody took the bait the first time, so drop it. Hunting turkey and deer are apples and oranges. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. What are the special circumstances? I think you’ve lost just about everyone on this one man. You say you normally guy them all right away, but then argue it doesn’t matter because they don’t do that down south (which is false btw)? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I’m surprised the dealer didn’t say anything to you, I always figured it was one of those things they’re trying to tack on and you’re like Jesus leave me alone and then think about the wear a truck gets and it’s worth it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Dude you may be in a sour mood but this is the first post I read today that made me literally lol. And that looks delicious, congrats and hope the family recovers quick. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Yeah I guess I just meant that I’m not sure that website has it correct. I’ve seen a lot of 3.5 year old NY bucks and that one doesn’t look like one. No disrespect to biz’s buck at all. Just not sure it’s a 3.5z Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Didn’t he just have a pretty good back and forth with the guy hanging deer with guts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Facts here, but I swear the way some act here, this is all they know of the internet. Well and how to check their hotmail. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. This was the first year I didn’t wear my snow camo in as long as I can remember. There was a day that I guess I could have, but it was melting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
