  1. If someone else mows and takes care of it, just be sure you don’t put too much time or money into it. As others have said a fall cover over clover and frost seed in fusion in the spring. Doesn’t really require any tools and is fairly cheap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Some nice size branches dropping now and I don’t see the deer moving in this. Pulling the plug in 5. @Chef nice buck man! Cool temps, no scavengers, not gut shot and you got him early. I’d say he will taste just as good as any other deer. Congrats. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Wind is getting worse. Probably going to pull the plug before the planned 10 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Dang turkeys busted me. Had 3 or 4 come in quiet and thought I had a window to grab my bow. I did not lol. They weren’t spooked, but enough to get them to slowly reverse course. I’m in my damn turkey ghillie too! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. It’s not the background I’m worried about haha. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Forecast wasn’t wrong. Windy and not in my favor, but last day I can hunt for like a week. On the plus side I have lots of yelps about 60 yards from me. Even a gobble. If they stick to their pattern we might have turkey dinner. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Little guys sparing. Not far from the big dude Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Jesus the big buck is back at one of my stands and here I am at football practice lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Dang winds out of the SE tomorrow AM. That kills my plan. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Typical crossbow hunter [emoji88][emoji1782] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. yeah aint nobody waiting till mid november. But I haven't even seen chasing yet except for the confused 5 pointer the other night. But for sure next week on, more likely halloween is woods time.
  12. it is funny that he's on this doe... there's no way she's in heat this early.
  13. This kid in Raleigh was f'n 15. I dislike that locking up your guns needs to be a law, it should be common sense but shit if this wasn't a huge failure and another major black eye and talking point for the anti's. 15 guys... 15.
  14. that's cool, but what's the point? I'd be nervous as shit during high wind lol
  15. No there's just a real steep hill here In all seriousness I really struggled to find a good spot to cover a scrape next to a run and the plot and the best tree to do this also had a scrape by it that I didn't want to disturb so I went with a larger thick bush type thing and clearly a day later I realized that wasn't the ticket, although it still is taking good pics lol.
  16. I'll hunt the west side and he'll be on the east
  17. same. On one of mine they're hitting it more than bucks. Right now it's mostly small bucks and does, but the big guys are starting now too.
  18. sigh... vent session. So I picked the stand I hunted this morning sort of with a coin flip. The wind was right and I didn't want to hunt a plot. I also hadn't been to this stand since early september so it was a bit of a scout hunt to see how the approach trail was holding up and I wanted to put an extra cam I had up as well at another stand along the way. Well, I have 40 acres that I hunt. It's narrow and most of my stands can be summarized as east side, west side, deep or orchard. All the middle is bedding and I leave it alone. There are 2 or 3 north south runs and too many east west runs to count. But 3 of my stands are at intersections on a main north south run that goes along the west side of the property. So no cams are popping and it's a quiet morning and then my furthest north west stand pops a doe and one of my target bucks. It's not a great pic but I know he's one of the 3 or 4 wall hangers that are local (and who knows come rut time). I confirm later that he's #2 and would be on almost anyone's wall. I sigh a little but it's whatever, this happens. About 15 minutes later he pops on a stand south of that. So he's heading south and here I see a real good look and confirm he's one of the big boys. Honestly his body is probably more impressive than his rack. I know he has a choice coming up where the run splits and if he goes east he's coming my way. If he goes west... smaller chance he ends up by the stand I'm in. This is all around 9am. I sit, I wait, the clock ticks and at 10am I have to get down to get back to the office for a call at 11:30. I'm a little bummed but that's hunting right? I climb down and get ready to hike out and the phone buzzes again. I figure it's the wife asking if I'm out but nope, this is another stand further south still and there he is. MOTHER F&*C&!R. He was upwind within 25 yards at all 3 stands. So I picked one of 2 of the 5 "woods" stands where he didn't walk by lol. Now I can't kick myself too hard as he has not been daylight until today. But I also think, man if I didn't run cams I would have left the woods with a nice sit that was better than work and none the wiser and far less depressed/discouraged than I am now. Of course cams present many positives as well, but heck if this isn't a good reason to not run them haha. anyone, thanks for letting me vent. And yes I know it's early.
  19. All quiet here. Leaves so wet even the squirrels aren’t making noise. Not a deer in sight or in any cam Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. It isn’t though. Most people have work and family obligations and a finite amount of free time. So maximizing odds is important to some. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Made it in to a brand new stand I put in this summer. It’s a quiet and damp morning. Didn’t bump anything but had a small buck at the stand about 5 minutes before I got there. Could here him walking around me as I climbed up. A shooter was at another stand 45min before legal. They’re getting closer and closer to shooting hours. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. PM for details. I have a sweet mineral lick corn pile setup that is sure to score!
  23. haha nobody says they don't move. But they do move less. Hunting is generally a game of odds but of course you can't kill them behind your keyboard.
  24. I'll keep looking, I think this is the same guy. I have a few 3/4/5 pointers running around and the thumbnail pics aren't super high res. A lot of him are at night or the other side.
  25. Maybe they prefer dove to irish spring now? Women can be finicky like that.
