In for a PM sit at my fall plot. This stand is really a gun stand but I’ve had such routine pics at night within bow range I figured I’d give it a go. At the very least it’s a nice observational sit as I can see most of the orchard. It’s way warmer than I thought facing west with the sun and I could have easily 2 layers less on me, but maybe that’ll pay off after 6. Beats work! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What's your favorite sound to hear in the deer woods?
Five Seasons replied to Five Seasons's topic in Deer Hunting
yeah we're not disagreeing on anything. I just meant that for most of us a snort wheeze from a 3.5 still means game time haha -
i use a very low power clip on headlamp for walking in and out and typically the green setting. I do carry a much brighter one in my pack for recovery if needed. I use a headlamp for just about everything at home too, much more convenient than holding a light.

Thanks all. Was a good day. Started with my 2 youngest football game in the morning, brunch with the extended family and then sitting on the couch watching football and a Bills win.

I know that a 3.5 isn't technically mature, but 98% of hunters will call that a shooter buck haha. -

I've only heard/witnessed it once in 20+ years and he was a very, very big buck haha yeah. Sometimes a bang if it's not me makes me cry inside. -
No wrong answers, favorite sounds to hear Some thoughts to get the gears turning crunch, crunch of leaves as a deer is approaching a buck grunt a snort wheeze the pop of a good lung arrow hit the "crash"

It's the part of this sport that sucks the most. You did more than most, and there isn't a hunter on this board who hasn't lost one. And if you quote me and say that you haven't, you're either lying or haven't hunted long enough. Watch for crows, if you have guts, I hate to say it but he will be dead eventually.

I've taken my boys out multiple times for deer and turkey just to hang with me and we've never seen a thing. They have all told me that they cherish the time with dad to talk, and that's all that ever matter to me. But yeah I can see how the pressure changes when they have the gun in their hands.

seems to always be the story this time of year, I wouldn't worry. I'm still seeing them in some spots, but it's 10pm or 4am. That will change soon.

A great, if not boring game! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Found a real nice fresh buck last year, was nothing to do just the back straps and they were delicious. Makes me feel better that an animal doesn’t just lose its life for nothing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Agreed. Worst case is you lose the tenderloins. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Seems like you have a good spot, but I’d be cautious to overhunt early if you’re after a mature buck. Sincerely, unsolicited advice haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’d say 4-6 hours and hope for liver. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’m a little disappointed in myself for giving in the alarm clock this morning, but the wife kept me up a little later than planned… although I’m not complaining. Action at just about every stand this morning but nothing with a horn. I’d shoot a doe so I guess I may have missed an opportunity but it’s a long 2 days of kids football games and being tired didn’t appeal either. Congrats and good luck to those out Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Wind has picked up, but it’s gusty not constant. Overcast and chilly. Would be shocked if I don’t see something. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Made it in. Not as windy as I thought and in my favor. Jumped a total of 3 bedded deer in different spots and a shit ton of turkeys Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

exactly, we're all saying the same thing. suicide or accident, if you have kids at home and honestly even if you don't because people do get robbed, lock up your f'n guns. Just don't parade around to the world that most of our kids die from the loaded glock in the sock drawer and I'll support your message. I have plenty of deer on the walls for any of my kids parents to assume I own guns, I've never been asked but wouldn't have an issue if someone did ask either. It would be a slight bruise to my ego though as that might imply they may think I'm an irresponsible parent, but again I wouldn't be bothered or triggered if they did.

silly laws aside, you're not wrong though. It's a reminder that ethics and laws don't always intersect.

muddy death?

Woke up to some rain and honestly it's too early for me to hunt in the rain, so I hit the snooze. Tonight looks a lot windier than I'd like but with the cooler temps I think I'll try an evening sit thanks to a relatively slow day at work.

The timing of this would have been better in maybe a week or so though. She's not going to lose the election, but saying your tough on guns when your rushed through unconstitutional laws are rescinded doesn't hold a lot of water. Honestly the people of Rochester would probably rather hear how you're helping them with all the murders. They're not naïve enough to think your gun laws will even scratch the surface of that problem, and they are smart enough to know that your bail reform laws aren't helping.
