  1. Slip lead Jaeger lead Retrieving bumpers Blank pistol Bird bag to hold live birds E collar. Some have GPS combined Beeper collar for when the dog points where you can’t see it. Bell for the collar if desired First aid kit for the field for the dog not you Live Birds like pigeon, quail or chukar, build a pen to keep them in Access to land to train on Access to water to train in Whistle Money to fund training, it’s not a cheap hobby Navhda membership, comes with the green bible (book on training) Attend a collar clinic to learn proper use of ecollar or try to view online I wouldn’t bother with a vest for the dog, not needed imo. Other forums will be more suited for dog training though use in moderation as with any internet based subject because everyone is an expert even when they aren’t. Last but not least you will need patience and time
  2. https://www.midwestgunworks.com/winchester-sx3/stock-shim.html I use these on a couple guns too, pretty sweet set up similar to a peep. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/dead-ringer-beard-buster-shotgun-sight
  3. That’s the spirit. My wife has hunted in the past so that’s how I justified a few shot guns. You know, in case she goes she needs the nice one. Lol How much rib ect is the giving the same effect of raising the comb. Practice mounting the gun then shoot it, I bet once you do you’ll find you don’t need to bury your head in it. That’s something you do from shooting rifles where a tight cheek weld is paramount. Think of shot guns as more like archery, anchor point, aim release. I bought a SXP from a buddy once for $300 and a twelve pack, it had a froze choke so I had a guy cut it down and rechoke then I sold it for $600 lol. I couldn’t hit a damn thing with that gun, it didn’t fit me well which is very important with shot guns.
  4. Moog what brand gun is it? Brownings and others come with a shim kit, I can tell you appreciate the finer things in life like Pygmy’s company so I recommend a pricey gas operated auto loader like a Maxus.
  5. Wrong in his case, raising his cheek will fix the issue. Your eye is the rear sight, move in the direction you want the pattern to move. Burying his cheek in the stock is what’s making him hit low. Or just raise the comb with a shim.
  6. Pro tip, practice with standard 2 3/4 loads then go big to confirm pattern. Come on out Doewhackers shot gun school and I’ll have you tuned up in no time. Word of caution, if you flinch or fail shoulder properly I beat you with a sock of 3 1/2 shells.
  7. Shim it https://www.fieldandstream.com/use-shims-for-custom-fit-shotgun/
  8. You can shoot them to protect livestock if caught in the act. Coyotes have never been an issue here with the birds thankfully.
  9. Nice, my coop is 10X12 with 10 foot walls and the run is @60 feet long by 10 wide. It’s covered as of this past winter, wire on the bottom and plastic mesh from 3 feet up and under the roof. Most of my predator run ins have come from other pens like my chicken tractor for the meat birds. The Skunk dug under the blockades I had. The owl busted into a duck run I had, went right through the mesh. The Coons reached through the side of the fence and into a dog kennel we had some new birds in and tore them out. That was a head scratcher to figure out. Fox seem to like to run around the outside and try to rile the birds up and hope one makes a break for it, or they wait for us to free range them. They are the most persistent of all and the only thing that stops them is a bullet.
  10. Very true, everything likes the taste of chicken. We have had, Fox, Hawks, Owls, Rats, Mink, Skunk, Racoon and Fisher in or around the run. Burying a Skunk I had to trap and dispatch in the middle summer on a 90* day was the worst. Convincing a Owl or a Hawk to leave the enclosure is a real treat too. You just can’t reason with them.
  11. A few minutes a day once you’re all set up. We make our teenager do most of it. Coop clean out, like mowin said, once a month or as needed and that is slightly longer process depending on size.
  12. The taste would be the true test, Nuthatchs taste like Humming birds while Chickadee flavor is more akin to spring Chipmunk. Ill let it slide, this time.
  13. I’ve been in contact with J T and he is not happy. You keep this up and Tim Hortons is off limits.
  14. Looks like a Nuthatch to me. Some Canadian scout you are.
  15. Not exactly, if you have the virus everything you touch is already contaminated. You keep confusing the method healthcare workers and others need to do with what a sick patient would have to do. It’s not the same.
  16. Dame my wife needs to jack her price up! We sell them for $2 a dozen using a cooler and the honor system just to get rid of them. People do go nuts for them, Duck eggs when we had them too.
  17. Mostly because it’s a fun hobby, we started small and now hatch our own when we want in an incubator and get some cool mixes. We stay around 20-30 birds.
  18. So true, we skipped doing them last year because we were both too busy with work for it. I think we may do some this year but less than 100+ like the last time. I even built my own plucker.
  19. Daketown and parts of the sandy plains are pheasant release sites. Also parts of SP are off limits To hunting I believe. 45 Gets hammered and a good amount of people walk there too. I have seen deer tracks in Daketown while participating in the youth pheasant hunt with my son. All of the spots listed are northern zone in case you didn’t know. There is also a chunk of county land not far from SP/45 that I hunted once when I lived up there.
  20. There are people doing the same upstate (and nation wide I’m sure). Private donors and restaurants stepping up to leave one less thing for health care workers to think about. Every weekend at my wife’s hospital there has been so much food for them.
  21. He gave a speech warning that the US was not prepared and something like this was coming and the government both state and federal ignored. Bush also knew and started trying to prep the country with a basic plan of what to stockpile and a guide book basically as to what to do. Obama raided the supplies through his tenure and never restocked. Trump didn’t either. Some of the supplies that have been sent were expired masks that were dry rotted and have been expired since 2010. I’m betting they were from the original Bush build up in 2005. Bush read a book on the 1918 flu and knew it would be coming, he even nailed the time frame of 100 years. Crazy because I always thought he was a dunce.
  22. My apologies, I read since the beginning of the virus as since the beginning of the ban. I was in a rush to leave and go be essential.
  23. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/04/us/coronavirus-china-travel-restrictions.html yup
  24. Go ahead and go spin his warning. Same as GW did in 2005, the government’s of Obama and Trump did nothing.
