No one is perfect and each parent choses a number of the exposures their children have. Simply put, this is so far from a big issue in our state/fraternity that it makes me feel like we have folks that don't see the the big picture (picture at all?) and whine their way through their free time. I shot wood chucks all summer from a pre small game legal age BUT they weren't listed as a game animal then. Lots of quality woodsman ship learned. Illegal? Nope. Now it is. If my wife uses a handgun in a threatening situation make sure you're there to chastise the fact she doesn't have all of my handguns on her permit too. People shoot out of season, with illegal weapons, spotlights, others tags, from roads, with bait, on my posted land even..... When my kid isn't at the park near the pedophile handing out candy or buried in his Playstation because he is in the woods I feel like it's a success. Then again according the rules of it is during season he is considered in pursuit of game so maybe I'll leave him/her to other devices.

So not used to be the good guy on here. Lol. The DEC will not be the savior on mature bucks. It will be the individuals that have a balanced herd based on what their ground/area warrants. Then trigger management will do more than points or number of deer killed. Those who truly get it on mature bucks already know the length and timing of gun season has more to do with what you see than don't.

Welter mixes- look at plow downs even... That being said the more white clover the higher the draw on our place Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

100% of New York hunters want to shoot bigger bucks, 52% hope a law will do it for them and about 5% have the gumption and ground to make it happen annually Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Anything to sell more licenses and kill more deer will make it through the state. phade- good luck to you and the mrs Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Ohios plan would not be perfect for NY, though it would be a good model to steal and try. Then again, NYs model on deer hunting would only be good for states who wanted to cut ENCON staff and hunter enjoyment Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Would love to see the simple comparison of hunting dollars received versus invested (let alone how)..... Guessing we would be sick to our stomachs Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Managemnet plan for NY state whitetail deer 2012-2016
gjs4 replied to hunter49's topic in Deer Hunting
The deer plan was put together before two of the worst winters we've had - this is where we will see if hurst has the brains to rethink all of the lagging approaches 'cause it's all different now Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Oh the value that's contributed here... Why aren't you guys in your capes flying around looking for people misusing punctuation, eating with their elbows on the table or something important of the regards? I'll hang my hat on raising my kids right under God, logic and hard work- keep doing your parts on the Internet "liking" what really matters in this world.

Another quality thread brought to you by the town gang and mayors kids

Ever jaywalked Doc? Didn't rob a bank after it, did ya? People who are criticizing how others raise their kids either don't have their own or are doing a worse job than the accused. Another local hero arrives on the scene in the town of ten...

Is this a campaign ad for Andy? Are we better for being stricter with laws? Why are there so many funds by proportion going to the state for funding and so little of a return? Big focus on down state and no focus on those paying in.... Do the math here folks Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I drove a farm truck at 10, shot my first rabbit at about the same age. Both happen to be he fondest memories I have with my dad and grandfather respectively. I will admit both to a court of questioned too. I also rode a four wheeler that say operators should be 16 and older at a lesser age and used a hammer without goggles as described on the safety sticker to post my land and build wood duck boxes for years. If you are going to say that's lawlessness you're right. If you are going to say you're always in compliance you're wrong. Shouldn't be published- but it shouldn't be illegal either. In our world, state and NY hunting culture you're missing the boat if this is your issue. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Managemnet plan for NY state whitetail deer 2012-2016
gjs4 replied to hunter49's topic in Deer Hunting
They dont have a plan because they don't have data- they have aspirations for license sales and instance company contributions Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Looks like there may just be statewide Antler Restricts.

Happily did the survey and not surprised by results. Our average hunter is getting older and owns more orange than camo. I am a deer fanatic and would love to see more mature deer. Everything you think we have me pounding yes in those questions. Care to know what I want? More dec involvement. Yup- that's it. Fines and pen tallies that hurt poachers. Deer census and take monitoring (not this car accident, stopped by a processor, phone a robot crap) Zones that make sense Hunter interaction not a survey sent to 8000 of 450000 hunters. We pay a lot of money- far too much for the understaffed and incompetent organization we have telling us what's best per their pocket linings. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
