Albany Mayor and DACA

the mayor is an idiot but one of a major city so in a blue state so there you go. if she can't get enough local votes she'll import more until she does have enough. lol -

rust prevention oil for muzzleloader question
dbHunterNY replied to goosifer's topic in Muzzleloaders
spot on the receiver right behind the breech plug and on the scope over the breech plug are important to clean with lightly oiled cloth. they'll have slight amounts of powder residue blow back from the breech plug. if left on cleaned they'll rust. -

Liver and onions ....talk to me
dbHunterNY replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in Game Recipes / Cooking
fry up bacon and onions in a large deep walled pan... no shrooms. take a knife and thinly slice the liver and set aside. cut up some potatoes into 1" or less cubes and dice up some carrots. add can each of cream of broccoli and cream of chicken soup to the pan with bacon and onions. add in potatoes and carrots, bringing it to simmer until potatoes are done but firm. throw away liver and you know you've made a mean soup. plus you verified your knife is still sharp. -

Shumer shutdown
dbHunterNY replied to Water Rat's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
no need to make that bet. we all know there's gun control measures most people are okay with and that many republicans have a hard stance in fear of losing votes. -
a lot of things are made from ash from the commercial side of things like baseball bats. from an ecosystem side of things, they're an important native species to wetlands.

Shumer shutdown

Gillibrand came from out here. she got elected locally as an unknown individual who claimed to be pro-gun. got a rating from NRA to match. then once she climbed the ladder enough to congress seat and got out of this area she flipped. she's since been an anti-gun and country values as much as possible. she's smart though claiming to be champion of and pushing into the spot stances on no-brainer things like women abuse. i mean obvious things that you really don't need to debate because everybody will side with you. ruth vader ginsburg, elizabeth warren, diane frankenstein, and even hillary clinton don't scare me as much as Gillibrand does. -
Semi-autos Throwing Brass
dbHunterNY replied to dbHunterNY's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
i'm neighbor to a rod and gun club. we've got steel gongs out to 300 yards. i'll hear people when outside doing something. most likely with AR15 they'll hit the gongs taking there time and then as they speed up gongs hits are sporadic and very few. i get a chuckle. normally we don't have full lines down the shooting benches but you see it coming when a guy doesn't setup on the end or gives people space while pulling out a "tactical" semi-auto. i think i've seen brass catch bags for ARs that run around $20. attach right to the rifle. seeing more people with muzzle brakes too.... given how overly sensitive today's society is and recoil being evil i'm sure they aren't going away much. -
stabile bow.... if it's draws smooth i bet it'll be real nice. moog says they tune well too. i don't have much of any experience with Prime bows. nobody really carried them around here.
-
i agree very different and takes a while to get settled in and comfortable with one. crisp clean break helps with killing foam or targets. i still like to use a wrist strap for hunting though.

i misplace stuff all the time but never loose it. seems like i've mentioned these before. lost my wedding ring. i thought it slipped off into a deer gut pile and then ended up in bear scat somewhere. searched and greatly disappointed for months. ended up finding it in a pair of disposable dipped palm gloves that i keep in the truck and use to load hay bales. i'd decided that, apparently when i lost it, i'd hang on to the gloves for one more use and then throw them away. good decision. other thing was my hunting bow. set the $2,000 bow setup on top of the roof to the car early AM to pack in the rest. got 20 minutes away to my hunting spot and figured out i never took it off the roof. put out signs along the route. mail man called and said he had it. talked with him a while and gave him a finders fee. just a little road rash but nothing wrong with it and still use it to this day.

only thing i'm think of is April is a little wet if it's a field day fun shoot type of thing. otherwise April is a somewhat slow time of year. -
problem with surveys is it's an educated guess. survey where i'm from and it's well over 80%. survey 30 minutes down the road into the states capitol and it'd tank. the senate floor vote was 47 to 13 (just over 78%) i'd bet much of the no votes came from urban districts.
-
that's the idea. this allows them to hunt with any implement during it's respective season. it's about recruiting young hunters before they leave the hunting heritage in the dust for something else. older people get the busier they get, making it hard to find time for something new.
-
i'm not 100% sure either but i was thinking it was one of the many states that's even lower than that as long as the kid is with a non-hunting but licensed adult.

Rifle for my daughter
dbHunterNY replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
i'm no legendary marksman, but here's what i think. while a lighter and crisper trigger can help you make a better shot, it can also mask a crappy effort from the shooter behind the trigger. i think most of my skills regarding a clean trigger pull came from growing up using my dad's Remington 7600 with a stock trigger. it was a horrific trigger but i learned to deal and shoot well with it. i think if you can shoot a heavy crappy trigger (excessive travel, creep, etc.) well, you can shoot any trigger well. -
...but if she could use a gun or crossbow if she so chooses, now it's probably game on and you'd be one proud dad. more kids grow up that crazier their schedules or broader their interests can be. by the time they're 14 hunting might take a back seat to other stuff.

Semi-autos Throwing Brass
dbHunterNY replied to dbHunterNY's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
yea just at the range doesn't warrant anything, he sounds like a complainer. indoors some ranges have sides that extend backwards or pull out to keep your brass flying within your personal space. only effected me when i got hit in the face during competition with little time. doesn't help the bullseye we're going for is size of your thumbnail almost 20 yards away either. i'm just surprised still at how hard that pistol was ejecting them! lol -
it'd be great to get this passed following the higher poaching penalties that was passed and signed into law. it'd keep the momentum going for any future pro-hunting bills to pass.
-
yea some are dead in the water for the time being. bills like this can move though if they get enough attention. throughout the country there's only a few states even comparable to New York. Most have no or very low minimum age requirements if with a hunting mentor. many others are 10 years old. New York is the biggest prick to any kid that wants to get into hunting.
-
the deal with any legislation is that a bill exists in the assembly with a number and one in the senate with a number. both are the same though. only passing in both senate and assembly does it move onto the governor to become law. it's passed in the senate but now has to in the assembly. legislature doesn't meet everyday and the sessions for this calendar year end in June. if it doesn't pass in both senate and assembly the process basically starts over.
-
i don't believe it's scheduled for a floor vote yet. best for you and some buddies to call your rep in the NYS Assembly to say you support it. When legislators constantly hear about an issue it becomes a thing that gets attention and moves.
