  1. buddy of mine just got a Accu**** something scope for his 6.5 creedmoor setup. it was cheaper but he said it box tested well and held zero. he installed a washer or something for a zero reset. honestly you don't need much for dials if it's a scope with MOA or mildots. better off not spinning knobs with a budget scope anyway. i'd go with the vortex diamondback already mentioned. it's got everything you want for $300.
  2. the means of propulsion is no longer mechanical. archery equipment is bound in performance by the materials and design to make those mechanisms work. air/pneumatic propulsion is different with completely different limitations. that kind of change there's not much difference making a change to a muzzleloader shooting a beefed up arrow and calling it archery equipment. some have if it shoots an arrow it doesn't matter. well you just took what everyone defines as a gun to shoot an "arrow".
  3. i disagree with the first part. is it faster with less drop and more accurate? maybe both. we have a limited number of hunter that still make poor shots on deer with high powered rifles though. i don't think deer are wounded with any particular implement significantly more than others counter my point either.
  4. could be either but seems like a 2.5 year old. keep the whole lower jaw intact. wipe or flush out the teeth good and post it on here. side view looking at the cheek (bucal) side and one looking down at the top of the teeth so you can see down into cheek (lingual) side of them. at least you got out some. better luck next season.
  5. Some say it takes on average 7 years to pass a bill because of this. I agree it's a pain in the ass. I burned vacation days for the poaching bill that is now law. I literally had meetings with legislators to say hey you passed this same thing through last year but it ran out of time in the end can we get it on committee schedule now and through sooner. Some committees don't meet on a regular basis. Just "as needed". Everyone damn well knows bills like that are needed to be pushed through all the time. The accepted process is its worst enemy which is sad. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  6. Growing up before we were allowed to even touch a gun we knew where they were and what they did. The key to the cabinet was even kept in the lock for quicker access and if we put it somewhere else like up safe we got our ass in trouble. I think at a very young age is the perfect time to introduce guns. Bad time is starting when they're in their teens when they think they know everything and know they can get away with some risk. When anyone is proven responsible and knowledgeable enough to go out on their own with a firearm is definitely case by case. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  7. I think that the degeneration would be slowed if you had options to use a crossbow when you have bad stretches or before you get completely broken. Full inclusion would eliminate all the fuss. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  8. congrats! looks to be very usable with decent cover already there enough that hinge cutting will do a lot. might have to plant rows of switch grass in some more open areas to create some cover for travel corridors. some of those pictures look a little thin with young trees. i've got real close to 10 acres. i can hunt the adjacent rod and gun club but it's more or less a war zone with minimum standards. i see a 3.5 yr old in the area maybe every other year. it's an awesome spot that's a thick creek bottom leading into an ag field. i cleared a couple small plots for different food and staging. one thing that's helped a me with a small property making it hunt bigger is hinging trees outward near the property line. pulls deer from the neighbors to bed just on my side. also it makes it impossible for neighbors to hunt borders without blowing deer and pushing down into my property. tough hunting low impact and with winds but it means i usually just hunt it with a gun.
  9. nothing for hunting and fishing. might be one or two short day or weekend trips here or there. just no time to commit to anything.
  10. from all the trail cam feed back from my group out this way in eastern ny, most are still carrying at least one antler. many with both apparently. seems like with all the warm weather and diminishing snow it's about to get really good. i just have to find the time.
  11. seems like an individual who was involved in the outdoor community. i can respect that. sorry to hear it.
  12. @grampy right now the new calendar year session has started. many bills are still trying to get out of committee, which usually means the ball is in the committee chairman's court. rest of the senate or assembly are pretty much left to wait and put effort into their own bills. in the time being it's worth it to get a bunch of your buddies from the same district to call your rep in each, asking them to support the bill and consider being a co-sponsor. not sure at what point they can be written on as one but the point gets across. negative folks are always the loudest and if that's all the voices that are heard politicians start to get a wrong picture of what the general public is for or against. it's best to call up the right people at the right time to move a bill along. right now it's anyone in the environmental committee. my efforts are going into youth hunting age being lowered right now. i hope this going through though.
  13. problem is in real life not in theory the verification process and scheduling a primary care doc visit to get a referral to see an orthopedic doc or whatever the process might be would basically waste a good portion of your season if it wasn't a pre-existing condition. if you're a vet dealing with a VA facility, forget it. might as well right off the whole season and try during the summer for the next one. i actually think we're worse off, because right now there's minimal exposure to crossbows. read this article and sign this paper in the guidebook isn't nearly enough. with full inclusion they'd be thoroughly covered under bow ed certification course. this past season i saw more broken crossbows from very simple operator error mistakes, some brand new. if someone takes a game with a crossbow we call it what it is. no different than a hunter taking a deer with a stick bow versus a hunter with a gun. you quietly assess it for whatever achievement you think it is and offer congrats if you like.
  14. i'd be on the green in one stroke but end up getting at least a ten for the hole. my short game sucks.
  15. most of the time your first starting with removing invasive species more than anything. for example, our group did work at the Washington County Grasslands WMA in Fort Edward with local BOCES bringing in helping hands and equipment. Spent the day just removing bush honeysuckle from old fenced hedgerows. intent was to open them up for the right birds of prey and discourage other predators like coyotes to use the hedgerows as travel corridors. whole day we could hear rooster pheasants sounding off. still some buck thorn to get after there. if you're willing to put in sweat and resources to create sustainable young forest acreage on your property there's a free to you resource available through the QDMA. His name is Tim Russell. Due to the spam bots lately PM me if you want his contact info. he's a very knowledgable guy that'll give you a break down of what you should do where, not to log for $ or grow big antlers, but to help wildlife in general on your property.
  16. i always get stuff after season for hunting. never buy it any other time.
  17. if i'm your caddy we'll just keep your bag stocked with beer and i'll be fine. lol idk though if TF showed up in his bunny suit and drove your fairway and then some, it could metally break you down. gotta be strong Biz. Otherwise i'd have to go all Bagger Vance on ya and suggest hooking one out of bounds.
  18. I'd caddy for Biz just to be close enough to hear him talk himself out of wrapping a club around a tree when the beat down happens.
  19. someone has to start a thread probably. not sure if we have too many golfers in this area on here. my schedule sucks right now so i'm not taking it on.
  20. the rest are talking about handicap and i have never bothered figuring it out. i don't play enough. i work in an office and grew up around politics so i have to have a set of clubs just as a formality. i don't have time to play enough to even consider myself a golfer. doesn't matter though it's still fun. i have friends and cousins that were high school golf prodigies that now have a day job and win local fundraiser tournaments. at least one has had a hole in one.
  21. yea you get three swings to make contact with the ball and then you're out right?!
  22. mixed bag. shopped around for each club on the internet sites like ebay. golfers walk up to me spouting off about the awesome brand they use. doesn't matter. i'm like "yea i'm using those." lol
  23. i've got two sets of clubs.... one's a $15 garage sale set. the other is shiny that i play equally as bad with.
