Looks like his Fat Tire became a Flat tire for those Chiefs
  4. I broke wind quite a few times on stand this year and I believe at times I lost my mind out there. Does that count?
  5. God luck to you tomorrow as well. I am afraid of what is happening to your BIL is going to happen tomorrow with the noisy snow. Some how, some way we will do our best to make it happen and if it doesn't we had fun trying.
  6. 12.17.16 Woke up to 6+ inches of snow and it is still falling. A perfect day to still hunt through the woods. There are 4 of us headed to the 100acre wood this morning. We arrived at about 7:20am after the usual 20 minute drive took about 40 minutes. Got out of the truck and it was sleeting and the wind was gusting. Got our gear together and headed into the woods. I stepped off the road and sank into 10+ inches of fresh quiet walking snow. As I was headed to an area I wanted to watch, up pops a deer and runs straight away from me. It was a doe fawn that was bedded in the spot where I shot the BB last weekend. I believe it was the one I missed after hitting the BB. It stopped and I tried to get steady and was shaking a touch. I took a deep breath and yanked the trigger. Yup. Puff o smoke and no deer in sight. I watched the spot and reloaded and then slowly headed to where the deer was standing. As I got closer, the deer was off to my right, and headed in a semi circle off to my left. It stopped about 60 yards out behind some trees and all I could see was its head and neck but no clear shot between us. I knelt down and waited for it to make the first move. In a minute or so I hear a BOOM, and the deer hunches up and runs towards me and falls dead about 15 feet from me. My buddy was heading down to a spot and saw the body but not the head and took the shot. One down and more meat for our friends. Spent another few hours still hunting my way through the property and had 3 doe come running at me to about 40 yards but they stayed tucked into the pines and never presented a shot opp. Went home, got lunch and was back out by 1:30pm. Decided to put my buddy back by our bow stands on the ground and I was going to do a big wide sweeping push that would take me about 2 hours to get to him. He saw 2 right off the bat and I jumped 3 as I entered across the street to start the push. The 3 I bumped headed in the right direction but then veered off in the wrong direction when I bumped them again a little while later. Ended up pushing 2 more in the right direction and they made it past my buddy but too far out and moving too fast for a clean shot. I did see a single that I could have shot but it was standing on the poster line and I opted to pass. Was a great day in the woods and got lots of exercise. 12.18.16 Woke up and it had rained but was not raining. Got dressed and started the drive and it starts raining. Figures. I should have turned around but said Im awake, Im going. Fog, rain, pouring rain, dripping rain, more fog, some wind, and some more stronger winds were the story this morning. In the end I was soaked to the bone in rain and sweat and ended up seeing a dead doe someone had lost about 30 yards over the poster line. My buddy didn't see anything either but at least we can say we tried. Took tomorrow off from work. Plan to hit the Honey Hole at first light with my FIL and seal the deal on the last day. May hit another spot midday and then back to the honey hole for the afternoon. The last 3 years I believe I have written that I've seen a buck on the last day and have not been successful. Hope this is my year.
  7. Nice going 46rkl!! Do you hear Adele singing in the woods over by you?
  8. Rabbit and bird hunting for sure and maybe some ice fishing. Haven't had good ice the past few years and I miss going out even though I am not serious about it. Never caught a fish through the ice so looking for my first.
  9. That's a funky one. Nice set of Zebco holders you have there!
  10. Thats a dandy buck right there. Congrats to you. Gotta love that adrenaline rush.
  11. Tell him to stop at the cheese shop and bring some for me on Christmas please. That place is awesome.
  12. Bagged it for today. Started pouring and I don't have a shed in the woods to hide in and my clothes are soaked almost to my base layer. The fog was awful. Clear for a few minutes, then wind would gust and could see maybe 20ft in front of you. Only two of us but we both said no more for safety reasons and drier conditions. Buddy came across a dead doe just over the poster line. She was a big girl but think she was a little bloated. Blood trail ran across the ridge from other property within 10 yards of the line. Weird thing is, it wasn't her trail. It was another deers trail that went right past her. I think she came up afterwards and bedded there and died. She was shot in the brisket area.
  13. 45 out, light rain and foggier than a mo fo out here.what was I thinking.

Hunted hard today and my little legs are tired. I earned this. Very good IPA
  15. Headed back out about 1:45 to my in laws. I still hunted the whole time while trying to skirt the edges around where my buddy was sitting. He saw 4 total, 2 of them I pushed to him but over 100 and moving through the hardwoods so no shot. I saw 6 and only had 1 shot opp but passed as it was right on the poster line. Between morning and afternoon I saw 10, shot once this morning and hit a tree. Back after them in the morning and then all day Tuesday.
  16. I'm back in too. Was too dang cold to text from the woods but what a morning. Snow was over 8 inches in the woods. Walked in and bumped a doe fawn. It stopped, I settled the crosshairs, and squeezed. Lots o smoke. Reloaded and headed down to see if I hit it as it didn't go straight down. As I am headed down in, the deer pops out in front of me and heads to my left and runs into my buddy. BOOM. One down. I decided to walk around and ended up seeing 3 more but no shot available. Going back out at 2pm til sundown. Good luck out there.
  17. If you play your cards right, First Light could meet you guys with snacks too!!
  18. Chances are if it survived the transport, it never would have made it through until Tuesday with all these rabid ML hunters on this site. It's not a joke. Why in the world would anyone kill a deer missing an antler? LOL that was a funny quote
  19. Thank you both for your selfless acts of helping others. Merry Christmas
  20. Congrats Grizz. I had a nice trail last weekend to follow. Funny because I said the same thing about Stevie Wonder.
  21. Whiskey Pint? My Dad used to own land near there in the Town of Barker. I'm about 30 minutes from there on a dry day. Good luck. Weather is supposed to be crappy Saturday down this way.
