Where in 4W? I was in Lordville for the weekend. Counted 18 shots from 6:30am til noon. Very slow. Full moon Friday night, warm weather, less and less DMPs. All contributing factors. Saw zip for the weekend.

Wow that is impressive. Great job by all the team members. We were all tired of reading your posts about misses so we can finally say Good shooting!! LOL -
Only some of those taxis use the bettles. The others boil. So for $65 less, I will boil it myself. I'm a pro after last year's, hahahahahahahaha NOT!!! Great buck there TCIII

Went to camp Friday night. Took a sheet pizza down and there were 4 of us staying at the cabin. Did a few shots, ate, then played some cards. Guys from up the road came down to visit. Had a few more shots and beer, then played more cards. Finally got bed at 1:30am. Alarm went off at 5:30. Sounded like a fire truck inside the cabin. Scared the carp outta me. Got up and had some cereal and got out the door at 6:30am. Climbed the mountain to my spot and sat for 10.5 hours and saw nothing. Very disappointing. Was warm until the wind started. Had a full moon last night so they weren't moving today. Out of 8 of us hunting Opening day, only my FIL saw 4 doe and one guy saw 1 doe and a bear. Had venison stew for dinner that I made. Was delicious. Played some cards til about 8:45pm and we all crashed. Slept in until 6:15am Sunday morning. Made it to my spot by 7:15am. Sat til 9am and the wind was swirling and it was warmer than yesterday. Decided to walk with the wind in my face. Put a few miles on the boots today and not even a flag spotted today either. Only hunted til noon and had to drive home. Heading down next Friday with my FIL so hopefully the deer will be moving. Looking at the forecast for Friday down there, they are calling for 60 degrees. I may just stay home. May hunt Thanksgiving but not sure.

Don't think peroxide breaks it down. Overheating weakens the bones especially on younger deer from what I've read. When I heat mine or "boil" it, I use dawn dish soap in the water. Then when it is all clean, soak it in degreaser or water with dawn dish soap for a few days. Another member here uses zep degreaser from Lowe's. Check out the DIY section or the taxidermy section in the forums here. Bunch of great ideas and methods guys use.

Just so everyone is clear on the rules, I found this link www.dec.ny.gov/docs/wildlife_pdf/bbhunting10.PDF It states, In the Southern Zone, you may not shoot a cub, shoot a bear from a group of bears, or shoot a bear in its den. I'd hate to see a happy moment turn sour quickly if you hadn't read up first. Good luck out there.

Good luck to you and the gang this weekend. Aim small, miss small, hahaha
-
Good luck Fletch. Looking forward to some more pics and stories.

Nice job. A little.superglue can help with the broken bones. I had the same thing happen to my first attempt last year and the glue helped out.
-
Thanks Law and you do the same.
-
Congrats on a great buck. He is big for sure and some nice mass on the rack.
-
Thanks Fletch. I agree the pain is awful but pray you don't ever need the stent. The removal of it as stated above is no fun and it is an office visit with no sedation. Nuff said.
-
Thanks everyone. I'm very happy with him and the story is a bonus. I called around to about 5 or 6 taxidermy shops in the area to.see what it would cost to just have the skull cleaned up, no whitening or plaque, just cleaned up. I know it is a pain in the butt to.do but to charge $75 to $100 to me is crazy. I bought a new electric hot water heater element for my homemade "boiler" and will do it myself again this year. It will take longer, but I will get the satisfaction. Heading down to camp Friday night with my FIL, BIL and the rest of the gang. Can't wait to get out in the big woods of the Catskills and enjoy my 2 days this weekend.

Great story and great deer. Congrats.

Got my replacements keys in the mail TODAY. I sent the check and form in over a month ago. Talk about cutting it close. Now I'm sure the missing ones will show up soon.

Yeah totally changed my diet and life. Got the pain driving to work on 9-11-15. Made it to work, then got back in the car and drove to the ER. Surprised I made it driving myself. The second worst pain is the kidney stent they put in. Worst 3 weeks of my life, that is until they took it out.

That is an amazing deer. Congratulations for keeping your composure and getting a good shot off. Well done!

Haha that deflated ball flew like a wounded duck. Brady can suck an egg!

Everything is cleaned up and oiled except the rifle. Ran a bore snake through but will stay dirty til the end of the season unless I get bored. Actually, I might do it the Fletch way and partake in a few beers and give her the attention she needs later tonight. Thanks for the idea. -
Yes I shoot an older Hoyt Ultratech bow with Easton X7 Eclipse 2014 aluminum arrows with 4inch real feather vanes. It is time for an arrow upgrade for next year for sure.

2 rounds through the .270, check. 3 rounds through the shotgun, check. 12 rounds through the .357 just for fun, and about 30 rounds through the .22 pistol, check and check. -
Thanks guys. It was a crazy day for sure. Fletch, I had to scramble and get some broadheads on my practice arrows for the hunt this morning. Lost 1 arrow and bent two others. Only good one left and the feathers shrunk all up from being in the water. Crappie - heck no I won't post that video!! At least not yet.
