And the defribulatorMaking regular meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Took lean ground beef and added onion soup mix to it, then the usual egg and breadcrumbs. Drizzled ketchup on top.

Pumpkinhead by Shipyard brewery isn't bad. Not a super heavy beer but a spicy aftertaste. Not into all the craft beers as much but haven't really met a beer I didn't like.

LIVE from the woods 2015 Edition! - Sixth Year Going Strong

Check out my journal from this year for the full story and it wasn't very deep.http://huntingny.com/forums/topic/29563-zen-moments-with-zem-2015/ -
Lol your post above shows tomorrow's date 12-3! Good luck in the morning in the hole stand. If you sit for 2 hours, you won't see anything. I can sense it.

Haven't seen you on here in awhile. Hope all is well and you enjoy your birthday.

Congrats on a great day spent with your kids. They will remember those days forever as will you.

LIVE from the woods 2015 Edition! - Sixth Year Going Strong

At least he had a boat unlike me -
You guys suck- all these great dinners and I got egg salad on wheat bread with a slice of pepper jack cheese and NO salt potato chips. Washed it all down with some high quality H2O. Stupid diet and it was my turn to play taxi tonight so that was the "to go" meal.

So your buddy has a jar full of nails for his coffin? NICE!! Little odd, but nice. What does Sam win for guessing correctly? J/K

Agreed, and dump most of that blood too. Do you have any buddies that hunt? My FIL and BIL and I all went in together on a vacuum sealer. $33 per person to purchase the unit and then whoever gets a deer, buys the bags that year. If all of you get one, everyone buys bags and you have extra for next year, or for veggies from the garden, or fresh fish caught in the summer.

Just my $.02 on the food source idea. This year the food has been abundant everywhere. Apples on every tree, acorns a plenty for all spieces of oaks, even the pin oaks. So the deer get on a food source and don't have to travel very far. Bed down close to the source, get up and eat, then bed back down. Other posts suggest less hunters this year, or more hunters sitting in stands, not walking around. Combine all the factors above and you aren't seeing deer. The deer have a good hiding spot with no pressure and a good food source so their core area just got smaller. Just a theory I suppose. I've hunted outside of Hancock for quite a few years and learned from the older hunters at the camp. Our cabin is in a valley and we own half way up the mountain on the cabin side, and all the way to.the top ridge across from the cabin. No deer were seen on the larger parcel across from.the cabin so far this season. Everything has been seen on the "short side". I believe this is because just over the poster line, there are hundreds of acres of the bordering club that do not get hunted like it used to. Year after year you would hear their deuce and a half truck going through the woods dropping hunters off to start their drives. Also the 4 wheeler traffic was pretty steady. Over the past 3 the traffic has just stopped over there. Nothing at all, not noise, not shooting. So the deer have this sanctuary over there and only move if need be. We had a bear sighted on that side as well opening day so that could play into why the deer were moving on that side. I've also learned that warmer weather sucks down there. The deer stay up high and you have to be part goat to go after them. But on the flip side, when bad weather moves in like snow, it's like someone threw a switch and the deer come down into the valley. Everyone's hunting area is different in a lot of ways and some have similarities as well. Hopefully sharing our knowledge on hear can help each other out.

I see a bunch of venison. The smaller cuts are most likely the flank meat (from the neck) and then some of the boneless roasts from the hind quarters cut up into boneless chops or steaks. Save yourself $80 and watch a youtube video on doing it yourself. It is much more rewarding and you cut it into what "you" want, not what someone else wants to do. I learned from my FIL and then taught a few of my buddies. If I see another deer this year and get a shot, I will make a video and post it up.

The ones from 11-21 and 11-22 are the same deer for sure. Look at the main beam on the left side and you can tell easily. Hard to tell with the angle in the 10-31 pic but it could be the same one as that left main beam hooks in hard right in the first pic. Either way, they are some studs and hope they are still hiding out there for you.or should I say hope HE is still out there

I think Sam got it with coffin bone which is in the hoof. See pic above

Made turkey burgers seasoned with garlic salt and pepper. Grilled on low and covered with jalapeno cheese at the end. Garlic shells and sugar snap peas on the side.

Didn't go to camp this weekend as the weather was forecasted to be warm and rainy and I was feeling crappy with this cold. So I went out with my buddy to his camp locally and stood in the rain, lol. We did 4 drives Saturday morning and I ended up seeing the most deer, 8 total, for the day. Only had a shot at 1 of them but it was a button so he gets a free pass. My buddy took a doe from the first group of 5 that ran past me and directly to him. Went and had lunch with all the guys of venison hotdogs and some venison steaks on the grill. All were washed down with some nice cold ones from the ice chest. Great afternoon. Only 2 of us met up this morning so we sat in stands by some thickets instead of trying to push by ourselves. About an hour into.the sit I hear the leaves rustling and by the time I turn around, this stupid coyote is at a full trot and not giving me a chance in hell at hitting him with a slug. When he was finally in the clear, he was over 80 yards at a full gallop going away so I saved the slug for another day. Was swearing at myself for not at least attempting a shot but oh well. Hunted another couple hours and walked out. Bumped 2 or 3 deer bedded close to the houses so didn't even raise the scope on them. Work all week and no chance to get out early so I Wil suck it up and do my time and get back after them next weekend down at camp.

Hunted this afternoon from about 2:30 til 4:30. Finally saw my first deer of the gun season and it was a yearling doe. Cute little skipper that wouldn't run away. Did some "boiling" today while I hung Christmas lights. Here are some pics of the process.First is the first boil to get all the gunk cooked up. Second is after about an hour and 20 minutes scraping. Last one is the degreaser bubble bath.

Woke up Monday with a sore throat and sinuses plugged. Worked M,T, and W and still feel like crap. Went to walk in this morning and it is just viral so OTC meds for now. Got an hour of sleep last night and a two hour nap this afternoon. Will see how I feel in the morning and if hunting is in the cards. Timing sucks. Happy Thanksgiving all and good luck this weekend.

Congrats Noodle. Never had bear but as Law pointed out, you have to be careful or you could get pretty sick if not done right. I've heard that "canned" bear meat is the best and safest but again it is heresy. Good luck finding some good recipes.

It's going to be a season to remember and recollect on but definately a hard one to beat or duplicate anytime soon. Hope those bucks got to spread some seed around before they wandered into death valley. Congrats again to everyone in the group.

Shot in Broome County with a rifle? Had to be out near Windsor then, or east of the Susquehanna River. Pic looks like it's from a frat party and your buddy in the bear suit is passed out drunk!! Congrats to you on a fine bear.

Nope, sorry. Can't think of one good thing at all about going back to work.
