  1. Got to agree - I've often wondered if there has been any real comparison done.
  2. We may not be able to count on him to repeal it, but at least the possibility exists. There is no chance Obama will do anything but make it worse if given the chance.
  3. So you are predicting something will happen in NYS that has not happened in any other state where xbows have been added? Good to see you are using available facts and info in forming your opinion.
  4. And my taxes have doubled in less then 10 years with no change in town services and a declining school enrollment rate. My real estate agent laughed heartily at at my thoughts that I thought to be able to list my place at even 80% of my assessment and expect to sell for that. Thanks Niles/Moravia and NYS. My town doesn't care about me (which are my neighbors) so if the companies get approval and need a place, here it is.
  5. Progress and help to possible retirement which will never happen without it. Also have family living and working in the NE and NC region of Pa.First hand stories from them about the wells in their backyards are far different then the one sided scare fables being pushed by the anti's in NY. If the neighbors want to object to how I use my 20 acres, they can step up and buy it - it's for sale.
  6. Watched 2 shows - neither was informative on any level or entertaining in any way. Unless you consider laughing at the scripted attempts at drama as entertainment.
  7. They can start tomorrow on my land in CNY and use the house and barn for an office.
  8. Bigger but probably a lot slower. Take care.
  9. Didn't mean the 1st one as an attack at all - just that someone as involved and passionate as you seem to be might not see how others feel differently. Sorry my intent was not clearer. Conversation would probably go much different face to face.
  10. Looks like making money from being in "the business" jades one into being insulting. Yep, that's what hunting is all about - do it my way or you are an idiot. I have never and will never mount a deer either - regardless of "inches". Have fun with that one as well.
  11. I don't look down on anyone who measures their deer. It would be nice to have the same respect returned rather then basically called a liar.
  12. They are sold as a dog treat also.
  13. X2. There are a lot that feel no need for a number to be attached to the experience. Hard for those "in the business" to understand.
  14. Split season is good - 1st half trad only. Second half trad and all other bows. Or better yet, one bow season - all bows, and 1 gun season - all guns including MZ.
  15. Hundreds of members here on this site. I bet a good number of them work for or have a business that they could promote (I have 2) but they don't. There are companies paying to sponsor this site so that we can enjoy sharing our passion for the outdoors. Few of these get on or start threads to do promotion - they are satisfied with banners and sponsor listings. If I was one, I would not be impressed with a business using the forums to promote their business for free while I pay for it. Like I said, it's not my call, but I do have a strong opinion and will continue to share it. I have seen this issue ruin other forums and would hate to see it here.
  16. Advertising is a cost of doing business. My opinion is this is spam and taking advantage of the forum. While not my call to make, I would never book with a place that spams forum's. Especially outfit's who only join seeking business out of state. Forum name is HUNTING NY - not pay to come to my place in Texas.
  17. They are sponsorship's available for those who wish to advertise here. Demonstrates support of the forum.
  18. I thought a section like this would be for members discussing hunts with guides and outfitters, their experiences and suggestions. Guides and Outfitters Both in state and out of state Guides and Outfitters recommendations, experiences and discussions. Did not think it would be for a commercial outfit to come on to plug and promote their product. Opens the door for the forum to become one big ad. JMO.
  19. Thank you for stating the clearly obvious. Last off topic post on this thread, but always willing to share my direct experiences with my multi year membership should such a thread be started.
  20. My post had nothing to do with crossbows. It was about fundamental problems with the way the organization is managed. Not one of which you came close to addressing. Instead, just accuse anyone who sees these things as major issues that need to be addressed before a mere handful can rightfully claim to be the voice of NY bow hunters of being a PETA, anti hunter . They are voice of a handful and refuse to let any one else in or have input.
  21. Like the early mz season deal they tried to broker with the NYS mzloaders 2 or 3 years back? Not more then a small handful of members knew anything about this until they announced it. Not a single bit of discussion or feedback from the members outside of the select few at the top. Backed away from it real fast when word got out what they where trying to do. I left the 2nd time when it become obvious this was SOP and it was impossible to effect any change from within. Attempt any discussion from the status quo or raise even a ripple of dissent and it gets mighty cold quickly. I know dozens of disillusioned ex members - less then a handful of ones that have remained more then a couple years. There is a pattern for those allowing themselves to see it.
  22. And I think it is funny that some think that NYB walks on water - even though they attempted to implement an early MZ season with the states MZ group. The non member bow hunters of NYS where able to expose and halt this betrayal. NYB has done some great things for the youths and for the seasons - as do a lot of others. Lots of others have, are, and will continue to do positive things for ALL hunters in NYS outside of the less then 1% that NYB seems to be able to have for membership ( in spite of signing new members every year). Low membership perhaps because they are run by a handful who refuse to allow any input from the general membership so the turnover rate is high and hunters put their efforts elsewhere.
  23. Loose or pellets? With loose I would try 5 gr increases to 120 max. I believe 120 loose is the equivalent to 150 in pellets.
