  1. That's what I thought - no reason to use Germany's program as any kind of justification for obamacare as written.
  2. Far better chance of getting struck by lightening or having a tree fall on you then being attacked by either a coyote or bear in NY.
  3. Heard a couple good things about this place. Going to check them out after the move this fall. http://longwoodhammockoutfitters.com/Home_Page.html
  4. Because I wish to choose who to spend my money on to help rather then feel good about the government deciding where my money gets spent, I am an uncaring bastard? If that is your qualifier then yes, I am one and proud of it.
  5. She had insurance - if she wanted more, they could have purchased. Why should I be mandated to pay for someones else's when they choose not to cover themselves sufficiently for their wants. If she was an RN, she made enough to carry proper insurance with lifestyle adjustments. We all have choices.
  6. It was never "full of them" and still isn't. This is a handful that move around alot. A few shot as targets of opportunity, but impossible to target and have any reasonable expectation of success or even a sighting.
  7. Pretty much agree with Eddie. I was thinking more self moderation and respect rather than official heavy moderation. Will see how it goes I guess.
  8. I bowhunt exclusively with a recurve - sold the compound last fall. When I can no longer use the recurve, I will go right to a crossbow - hopefully legal by then.
  9. Does anyone else think the purpose of the new forum should be for discussions of crossbows - shooting and hunting? Keep the debates on usage and seasons to one of the general areas?
  10. If it was for a shoot in NY, most pens are less then 300 acres. Don't see how it would take more then 1/2 a day for 2 let alone 3 days. And yes, I did it once for the experience - nothing that I would bother filming.
  11. I know one such family that got back just over 9K 2 years ago with less then 21,000 income.
  12. Suggestion - don't quit the day job. And fewer party favors.
  13. I've sold a couple recurves to Don Jr. Swapped a few stories about hunting and fishing. He is an avid hunter, both bow and gun, and has a real passion for fly fishing. He likes getting away for DIY whenever he can - which you can't do in Africa. We could use a lot more sportsmen like him.
  14. White Rifle mz model Thunderbolt. Not a lot of them around.
  15. They are either archery equipment (and should be allowed for all in bow season) or they are not. Allowing non archery equipment to be used by some in the bow season could be used as justification to allow other non archery (guns) tools in the bow season as well. This recurve hunter supports full inclusion of all bows at this point.
  16. I don't see the allowance for senior or disabled only - either it is archery equipment and should be open to all in bow season or it is not and shouldn't be. My believe has changed in the last 4 or 5 years from no crossbows to full inclusion - and I hunt with a recurve. All bows in bow season. All guns in gun season.
  17. And our safety record is equal to or better then most of them. Also heard our rate of compliance is statistically about equal as well. But we have done all this before.
  18. The only way it could be considered close to acceptable is if the shooter places the target AGAINST their own house. Wonder how many suburbanite shooters do or are willing to do this?
  19. Try shooting with snow on the ground - most likely you will find that 3 pellets don't burn completely and there will be quite a bit of powder on the ground.
  20. I'll support it when they make it the last weekend before Thanksgiving (move opening day back to Monday), and lower the age to where it should be. Lower the age will do far more for recruitment then any special youth hunt. Maybe our downstate brethren will put the pressure on their lawmakers who have made a career of fighting lowering the age?
  21. I am a bowhunter who supports inclusion as well. And I bow hunt with a recurve (real bow).
  22. Much faster learning curve to begin shooting with an aiming system of some type and have it become automatic with time. Also good form when starting is every bit as important with trad bows as with a compound.
