9 year old girl accidentally kills gun instructor
Four Season Whitetail's replied to Borngeechee's topic in General Chit Chat
For what a weapon was made for. Some say we dont have to hunt, Yup, Fine so what happens to all the animals that people know need to be controlled? Ya know like the 40 thousand doe permits some area are getting. You think they will just send in the sticks and strings? . -

Do you really think for one second that they would/could do away with all guns in Ny? I dont believe it. I guess they would just use X-Bows and birth control for all the animal population problems. Not going to happen. Its a very few weapons that are not used or made for hunting and serves no use but for blowing holes in targets. Buddy of mine just got his pistol permit in record time compared to what it used to take. Yes stupid people do stupid things but if one thing can be removed that serves no purpose then????? -

Is Cuomo running unopposed?

Maybe that 3/4 of Ny is happy with his job. Besides gun owners and we make up the little 1/4. -

And not all gun owners think what he is doing is a bad thing. Many still believe he will never come after their hunting guns or ammo. I know a few of those myself! He will be voted back in by the elderly and the city! -

Yup many look at it that way. Andy has been getting praise for about every other thing he has done with the state..If thats possible. He did a great job with the fair. lol With all the praise he gets from the older citizens about gun control that dont care about guns or hunting or think they are being stepped on and with even some that think they are being stepped on but still wont even vote Andy will win by a landslide again. Sad but true i believe! -

QDM co-op
Four Season Whitetail's replied to dbHunterNY's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
That will be the way of the future for many. Bigger animals and a much better"Hunting" experience with older age animals. The only problem is the price hunters will pay to enjoy the sport will rise. -
WTF!! License Issuing Problem
Four Season Whitetail's replied to letinmfly's topic in General Hunting
Nothing on my end yet! Did you guys know that backtag numbers stay the same forever with lifetimes? I did not know this and trashed all mine cept last years. Will find out soon enough i guess. That is if this years ever shows up!!! Anybody know if this the case? -
That figures...I got first and shot down for 2nd. My kid did the same. Wont need more than 2 tags for the park anyways so all is good. The 8H's for the farm will be no doubt for Nov 1st!

No rifles allowed in Letchworth Park
Four Season Whitetail's replied to 132 eight pointer's topic in Deer Hunting
Nope pistols are good and i have carried my trusty 6 shot shotgun loaded to the gills for many years. My partner is a local police officer and he use's his pistol on the park more than his shotgun. I have stood there many times, twiddling my thumbs while him and park police officer compare work weapons and hunting pistols! I believe the park is all by DEC rules except the antlers and the rifles for the most part. -

Are you saying this about Letchworth? I hope not. -
Early Bow - Jefferson / Oswego County
Four Season Whitetail's replied to Vince1's topic in Bow Hunting
You only need to be active or retired to hunt the cantonment area. That area is behind fence and has some housing in there. There is like another 60 thousand acres that are open to the public. I could hook you up around the area across from our farm. Bed to food every day. Only a lightly traveled road separates 700 acres of corn and beans from the land of Ft Drum! -
Mr Hankie!

Have never had a problem in Letchworth park C cabin area. We have shot many times as park police drove past. I imagine its all about safety and if you are launching arrows towards people or other cabins it may throw a flag! Many great block targets on the market but we have never had good luck with the bags holding up.

Last time i did it they had you up on a huge platform they use for military training, set life size targets at 10 to 50 yards. You get 5 arrows and your choice of target but only 1 arrow per target. You must put at least 3 arrows out of the 5 shots into the sweet spot. They dont tell ya how high up you are. About 20 feet i would guess You would be shocked to see how many strike out. Best part is they didnt make ya test if ya hunted from the ground. lol -
Blind, sit and wait or still hunt? (Rifle)
Four Season Whitetail's replied to Borngeechee's topic in Deer Hunting
Its all sitting for me untill the late season and snow falls. If you know the area your hunting and the deer, you can find them on their feet after opening day. The rut is still in during gun and mature bucks are still looking for the ladies. If you get to the nastiest part of the property you hunt. Which is where the deer go. you will find mature bucks walking around at 11 in the morning just like they do at 7am. Mature bucks are tough to kill during early gun by walking up on them. 99.9% of hunters cant do it and will be busted every time before eyes are even laid on that buck! -
There are times during the year that you can take a doe with your regular tag. With a different weapon. The doe only tag is for just that!

Sometimes we get an an unfair advantage in the whitetail world! One of the perks of studying how these great animals tick. -
Yeah buddy. Hookup with a great guy that also makes his living as the judge in Nunda and bow season is just that much sweeter. I have to say that i find it funny when people in that area down there complain about no good places to hunt. I bought land down there just because but if i lived in that area i would not worry about a place to hunt with Letchworth and Rattlesnake Hill sitting there. Book bucks for those who need them to fulfill their hunting and piles of deer for those who just want to fill freezers! What more does one need?
-
Will be hanging around the farm here a bit but most of my bow hunting will be on our farm next to Letchworth and a new 200 acres we just locked down this past weekend down in Nunda. This will be a sweet year with the bow!

Did you ever consider hunting on Fort Drum? My farm is across the road from the military base and things are looking very good this year. There will be no bucks in velvet that late in September around here. You will be using last years tags so it should be a go for buck or doe! Our side of the road is 6G and across the road is 6H. You will have to sign in and also complete a shooting test with your bow before you can hunt off the ground! -
Really?? If you take this place that serious then its not for you anyways. I have made some great friends off this site, Helped so get some great bucks and have givin some a new place to hunt but at the end of the day its a website and you have control of your index finger and do not have to push what you dont want to read. But really the words??? That speaks volumes. No need for that stupidity!
