  1. More training on knowing your target and less on looking for a color. Kind of reminds me of the time on the park a few years ago hunting up on top near wolf creek and a guy walks by me with a hat on that had very little orange and a pair of brown full length bids worn over top his coat. Not a good place to be wearing that outfit but he made it through i guess, never saw his name on the news!
  2. Wonder how many were still left in the clip? Maybe he was breaking laws all over. Strange world for sure and its sad, everybody has family!
  3. Never up here. Hunt my own farm so pretty sure whats going on. Letchworth get a hat and vest because thats the rules.
  4. Got a couple 8m's today and all went smooth. I believe i read on here that the doe tags had to be paid for if you had a lifetime bought after 2004? Not real sure on that but mine were free today and mine was bought after the 2004 date!
  5. Agreed and a transition zone most times end at a staging area when fields are involved and dealing with mature animals. Many younger deer will go through the transition zone(bed to food) and pass right through the staging area and go out into the field(food) Mature bucks will never do that unless they have their nose up a does ....... Anyways great advice to see the deer that are in that area.
  6. Sad place where a land owner that pays taxes on his property year in and year out and cant get a tag to take a deer, Regardless of land size. I can see giving very few doe tags out to an area if the deer #'s do not warrant it but any and all land owners should come first in any selection!
  7. The sad part is that its not just XBows. Its how someone hunts, Its what kind of animal. Its where someone chooses to hunt and on down the line. The writing is on the wall for those that choose to read it! Good Post There Scout!
  8. For myself being that i like to hunt mature animals i would set up back off the fields in their staging area. A mature deer will not walk out willy-nilly into the field much before dark. Most times anyways! But he will stay back a safe distance off the field untill sunset. If you have no preference on the animals you harvest then you could set up along the logging road or the corn fields edge. If you can get a camera up to show you what kind of honey hole you found that would help you a bit. Either way, enjoy your new treasure as good farm land is getting harder to find every day!
  9. Which in turn would use the word Hunting better than the word Killing or culling. Many, many kill deer every year but to pick a buck or two out of your hunting area and go Hunt that single deer or two is called Hunting in my book.
  10. Yup he looks like a yearling by the pic but a pretty nice one also. I myself would let that guy walk regardless of brow tines.but if the freezer is empty and deer numbers are up? Why not. As far as brow tines, you really cant tell a deers future by his first rack. I have seen many with no brows at 1 but have them at 2yrs old!
  11. Yeah whatever! There is no reading into anything. It was a written fact. Eddie made the stupid statement about a fence and then manned up and said why he said it even though he misunderstood my post because thats how most use damage permits and shoot at night to get the job at hand done! The problem comes when some sap tries to degrade me with posts he puts on threads i respond to. I will never walk away from some dipstick like him! He is supposed to police the site. Not try to degrade people which he has many times,to many members!
  12. The damage permit is givin to farmers to get rid of deer. Hence kill the problem. By you going out and:hunting: 1 deer during the off season will do nothing to help his problem. If he only has very little damage then he needs DMAP's to give out to hunters during the open season. If he has massive deer problems then he needs a damage permit and someone to go in and 'kill' the problem regardless of the time of day or night. Thats what their made for and he very well could lose that permit if its not used correctly. You will also gain no friends from the other hunters using that property by helping this farmer out by killing deer in the off season and does with fawns will make it worse. But i guess you already know that!
  13. This post just shows how bright you really are. You make a post to try and degrade me when in fact you show how stupid you really think! Everybody but Steve can read the post, look at my reply and then look at his reply back. He had to be childish and throw the last sentence in there that its not fenced in land. That shows one thing and one thing only! There is no flipping out and i am not worried if i alienate some people like yourself that have no meaning to me or this site! Now back to your easy chair and read up about how Andy is going to take our toys away!
  14. Really!! What kind of knee jerk answer is this? I guess you need to do your homework on the permit systems of Ny state and what farmers can and can not do with the permits they get! Coming from a Mod, your last statement shows just how guys like you can ruin a site. Your post or my reply had nothing to do with high fence or farming yet you find yourself childish enough to throw in a comment about something that had no bearing on the thread. Cant wait till the owner gets some real men to overlook this great site before it goes all the way down the drain!
  15. Why would he not let you hunt if he is willing to let you blast them at night with a light? Not sure how good the hunting would be if you went the night shooting route anyways. Does he allow other hunters on to thin the herds?
  16. Our area is down, Clerk called today and was told system may be back up around the first of next week!
  17. No, Not myself but can point you to some great scent makers in Ny where you can get same day fresh 100% doe in heat. No doubts and when used properly can change your way of hunting forever!
  18. Yeah this site has had many on here that those shirts would fit just fine! Many different threads show many different colors in some!
  19. Fresh from a local tap would serve you much better!
  20. Just stopped to do my duty and the system had crashed and suspended sales untill fixed!
  21. 42 years and counting. Oh how things have changed!
  22. CWD has been a political farce from day one. They tried to do one thing with their agenda and that backfired on them, resulted in a lawsuit and now fighting their screw up with your taxpayer dollars. Do you also think if they were worried about CWD they would have a compost pile in Cortland where they throw all the untested deer in a huge pile to break down, which in turn is then spread in every flowerbed in every rest area on the Ny state thruway and givin to local farmers to spread on their crops? But we already all know about the farce????
  23. I agree with ya to a point. Its obvious that what they have been doing has not came close to fixing the problem. So instead of trying some ideas that are working in other states they just double up on something that was not working in the first place!
