Gotta deal with the facts man. Dont you know this crap is going to wipe out the herds? For years its been said how bad it was going to be. Now you will see for years of what a joke it was. Hang On!!
-
That is pretty cool. But throw in CWD being moved that far by free roaming deer(Oh thats right, a few qdma guys say that cant happen) and that goes to show how easy it would be for something like that to roam across counties and state lines!

They have broke up in our area. 7 Toms taken the first 3 days and the toms that are left are in with small flocks of 6 to 8 hens. 6 different boys all fluffed up with the ladies today. Let them rest a day or two and they are right back out like there was no season at all.

Live CWD testing and info Good morning all, I just wanted to bring to attention the latest information on available live CWD testing. Lets start off with saying that there are still the individules and orginazations that still publish that there are no live cwd test and only the current dead animal testing is available. Not so at all, The Wyoming game and Fish with the university of Wyoming have been doing live tonsilar biopsy for its 4th year now, And are able to show if infection is in deer shortly after samples are taken. See Todd Cornish PHD and DMV . Also University of Colorado in conjunction with the dept of agriculture has been working on live cwd testing and through a swab of inside the deers tonsils they are now able to detect cwd in an infected animal long before it shows any physical or visible signs in nature. This is great news for the sportsman and hunters of our country. I will post the abstracts and conclusions later this evening when I get back in my office . I reviewed the testing and research that has gone into this and this look promising like a step forward to a possible vaccine or treatment. That's still a little ways out but the Colorado test shows a acuracey rate 0f 92 and 96 % I also personally know of the first live test done on a captive deer herd and all deer came back with no evidence of cwd in their animals. Look forward to updating everyone on this.(Quote) Found this interesting. Cant wait untill the truth is shown!

NY DEC: 2013 Deer Harvest Results are In
Four Season Whitetail's replied to burmjohn's topic in NYS DEC News and Annoucements
You are correct. It cost me an average of $500 to raise one adult deer on my farm a year. Most deer in Ny are fed by the farmer. If you do the math of how many deer in the state times the $500 bucks? I could see the vermin statement and some farmers with the..Kill them like rats thoughts... The state makes all the money and the farmers take the hit. Like down in the tier where we hunt, The farmers we hunt on want them all dead and dont care about tags. They will let you hunt but they also gut shoot them at night when they get the chance. The ones that dont let you hunt either hunt themselves or get big dollars from lease. -

Four Season Whitetails, on 13 Apr 2014 - 09:06 AM, said: Well pretty smart money move if you ask me. Why make the masses take a test to use them? Most would not go through a class to hunt with a xbow but if its just pay 20 bucks and head to the woods...Their all in. Very smart money maker on their part. If im reading it right?(Quote) This is what i thought back when i posted this post. Someone else corrected me but i believe this is right. No test...Just a piece of paper off the computer and 20 bucks for muzzy tag!! Brilliant!!! Andy works for the state again! lol -

What's wrong with this deer
Four Season Whitetail's replied to First-light's topic in General Chit Chat
If the snail or slug carries the infective stage of the meningeal worm larvae, it can move through the deer’s gut and into the central nervous system where they mature and produce eggs. The eggs are then excreted by the animal, and the meningeal worm’s life cycle starts over. In unnatural hosts, after 10 to 14 days of ingestion, the larvae migrate straight to the brain and spinal cord. They don’t mature into adults; instead, they move through the central nervous system, causing swelling, which damages the tissue and creates neurologic symptoms. If the larvae are in the animal’s spinal cord, symptoms include a limp or weakness on one or more of its legs or partial or complete paralysis. If the larvae are in the brain, symptoms include blindness, head tilt and circling. Although the whitetail is a natural host of brain worms without any problems some can be infected to a point of problems! This deer looks to have a broken front leg! The deers left leg at 5 seconds into video. -
NY DEC: 2013 Deer Harvest Results are In

The 2.5 year old stats are good because of the opening date of the southern zone last year. Dont you think more adults are going to be killed in the middle of the rut rather than the end? Look at the dates of opening day the last couple years. A week during the rut can make a huge difference in the age class of bucks taken! -
You can have all the opinions ya want but if you think that by sportsmen going at each other because someone hunts over bait or behind fence or with dogs and on does not weaken the whole group you are sadly mistaken. I can promise you it does. Regardless if its just talking or a the voting booth. It is weakened.
-
I believe you are sadly mistaken if you dont think the separation between hunter do not have a big effect on hunting as a whole. Trust me,it sure does. It is deep enough to the point where some will vote against one way or the other and in the end, one side or the other has to lose and when that happens the antis get stronger. In the end, hunters will lose at their own hands!

This is called fair chase? To each their own.Its legal and one of the only ways to kill a bear. If the..Hunter..had to hunt bear by search and harvest some places would be over loaded with bear. Not my cup of tea either!

TURKEY REPORTS - SPRING 2014
Four Season Whitetail's replied to TurkeyHuntPA_NY's topic in Turkey Hunting
Still again this year with huge numbers. Record number of birds winter here every winter. Last Sunday there were 17 different bearded birds on the farm. Some with brushes all the way back to 4-5 inch stickers. Seems like the numbers just grow each year. The only corn, beans fields within 10 miles sure does not hurt i guess. -
I like to get out on the road next to where i think they are roosting a couple mornings in a row before opening morning and listen for him to light up on the roost. Alot of older birds like to roost away from the flock. That boy you are seeing may be roosted on one side of the road and just floating across the road to the rest of the flock when he leaves his roost. Be sure to..Put him to bed the night before opening morning. You will also see other hunters doing the same if someone is watching the same bird and has plans to sneak in and blow him off the roost. Remember...There are all kinds of people!

Research my son. owa : Chronic Wasting Disease Detected for First Time in Wild Iowa Deer Chronic Wasting Disease Detected for First Time in Wild Iowa Deer Posted: 04/09/2014 The first case of chronic wasting disease (CWD) in a wild Iowa deer has been confirmed. The deer was reported as harvested in Allamakee County during the first shotgun season in early December. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is currently working to obtain as much information as possible about the infected deer to implement its CWD response plan. “We have been testing for CWD in Iowa’s deer herd for more than a decade and are optimistic, given the extensive data we have collected, that we have caught this early,” said Chuck Gipp, DNR director. “The next step will be to focus our monitoring efforts in the area where the animal was harvested and work closely with local landowners and hunters to gather more information.” said Gipp. CWD is a neurological disease affecting primarily deer and elk. It is caused by an abnormal protein, called a prion that attacks the brains of infected animals, causing them to lose weight, display abnormal behavior and lose bodily functions. Signs include excessive salivation, thirst and urination, loss of appetite, progressive weight loss, listlessness and drooping ears and head. The only reliable test for CWD requires testing of lymph nodes or brain material. There is currently no evidence that humans can contract CWD by eating venison. However, the National Institute of Health and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that hunters do not eat the brain, eyeballs or spinal cord of deer and that hunters wear protective gloves while field dressing game and boning out meat for consumption. Prior to the positive detection in Iowa, CWD had been detected in every bordering state. “With CWD in all the states around us, we have understood the possibility of a positive detection in the wild deer herd for some time” said Gipp. Since 2002, the DNR has collected more than 650 samples of deer from within a five-mile radius of where the deer is believed to have been harvested This is why Ny will have it again in a matter of a few years at most. With 3 cases in the last month in different states and areas. It seems Ny does not like to test to many along a bordering state? Wonder why?

Four Season Whitetail's replied to bubba's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Yup and most people that have those kind of guns are also hunters...That is untill that felony hits home and now he is a past hunter with no guns at all and a record. That will help his life and the sports future! -
You are talking does here correct. So many other factors come in play when you are talking females and males and from young deer to old.

Yup this response shows the education! Does not matter how it shows up. If cwd is ever proven to be harmful to humans hunting as you used to know it will be turned upside down. Your life would change a bit huh -
How does this picture make you feel?
Four Season Whitetail's replied to Five Seasons's topic in General Hunting
I have no problem with that thinking but there are thousands that think just a little different than you and the rest and are not real thrilled with the taking of a 90lbs spike that offers no hunt at all. The dumbest animal in the woods and i can show you animals behind that would offer 3 times the hunt. Easy!! After your theory and thoughts you still came back to the point that any other animal except bambi can be killed within any pen any size with no issues. Always has been with..Hunters..but let the anti speak and neither will be ok. Hence you have no strength in the hunting ranks because some dont agree with what others do. That is why the anti's get more power every year! -

LOL..Good one! You really dont think the states will use live testing. They wont test untill they are hunter killed and by then its way to late. This test will only prove once and for all that our deer are CWD free. Think about this for a second. You have CWD in the wild herd and they find out that CWD does in fact do bad things to humans after a few years if meat is eaten. Farms=Tested clean animals....Wild herd, not so much. Whats the future of hunting look like through those glasses?
