Great!!!!! -
Well we roosted some birds last night and got within 80 yards of where they went in last night. We got all set up early this am and as it was getting light I still hadn't heard a gobble.I was getting a little worried as I really wanted my daughter to at least see some birds if not get a pop at one.So I pulled out my crow call and let out a few calls and they were right there.5 jakes glided down into the field and got within 50 yards of our blind but just would come the last 20 to get withing her comfort zone. The wandered off only to come back into the field to within 70 yards and then back into the woods and out of earshot.Oh well thats hunting. Her eyes looked like silver dollars when they gobbled on the roost and I swear I could hear her heart beating!!!HAHA Great day to spend with my girl!!

Well I almost got scammed by the seller of the Benelli.I sent the payment on Wednesday and as soon as I told him the MO was on its way he asked me if I could send the payment in another way and he would just send the MO back as soon as he got it.So I called the post office and asked if I could redirect.I was told I could because I sent it priority, they redirected it back to me and as soon as the tracking # said it was heading back to me he called and asked what was going on.I told him "you wanted the money in a different way and if you think I am throwing another payment your way without the shotgun your nuts".So he told me he would tell his FFL to ship the gun to me and send the money. He text me this am and said the gun is on the way and to please send me him the money.I asked for a tracker and he gave some BS excuse so I asked for a phone number to his FFL so I could ask him.He gave me the # and when I called I got the same dumbass guy on the phone that was trying to sell me the gun!!!!So because I have the money coming back all I am out is the 20 bucks it cost to send the MO down to him. Then a little while ago just on a hunch I got back on Armslist and guess what. The same add, same gun, same price and the same picture is up again, but not in Georgia like the first time,Its in West Virginia now!!!If the gun happens to show up on Thursday(I will be amazed) I will send hi the cash anyway he wants. Here is the add for gun. Here is the listing on Armslist.I also contacted them and told them what was going on and I think he is a scammer.I hope I am wrong but I doubt I am. http://www.armslist.com/posts/2891933/west-virginia-shotguns-for-sale--used-benelli-black-eagle-ii

Whats your go to call to get a gobbler to sound off on the roost?I usually use a crow call or a owl hooter.
-
Had 2 this am gobbling off the roost till around 635,thats when they hit the ground and went south. They were 200 yards from where I was last night right at dark and couldn't get them to sound off on the roost with my crow call.
-
Went out tonight, didn't here or see a bird,Maybe a off night but do you think the cold does something to them so they are not very vocal?I will be out at first light to see what happens off the roost.

Saw 2 toms this am on my way to work
-
Very nice!!
-
Saw the biggest stinking tom I have ever seen tonight while coming home.He had 2 other toms with him and he seamed noticeably taller and bigger. To bad he was 50 miles from my nearest hunting spot!!Other than that alot of birds in full strut and bachelor groups of jakes. Tommrorow morning I will be heading out before work to listen to the woods wake up and tray to pattern them a bit before I have to be to work at 7.If I can get some good pics I will post them up!!

Deerthug. My nephew hunted with a 410 his first time out and made a bad shot on a bird.I would suggest the 20 for your boy.Not trying to step on any toes, the first day Jeff(my nephew) had a monster gobbler(10 inch beard later shot by a friend) and couldn't knock him down.Needless to say the wind was really let out of his sails, the next day I was able to convince him to get back out their and he nailed a jake at 15 yards with a borrowed 20 gauge single shot.Either way good luck and have a great time
