The viper is rated at 300 pounds.I usually climb with my harness attached because friends have had the stand slip on them before.Climbers are not just for small people either.When I was heavier I went out and bought the Titan so I was in the weight limits if the stand.Get out there and hunt and be same with a safety harness.The OP had a bad time,wasn't ridiculing Summit for shoddy work,I feel the only thing that could have helped the OP was attaching the top and bottom together.Then again I wasnt there and can only guess what happened.Glad your safe and keep us updated as to what summit helps you with.They are the only stand I will buy because they stood behind their product when I had a small problem and they are like having your favorite recliner in the tree!!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I talked to Andreas tonight and (over the phone) he seemed very genuine about wanting to learn about hunting and the roots where it came from in America.I am a little to far away to actually sit down and talk to him but if I had the chance I would.

Why because of trail cams?I still have to put them in the woods,within the right 50 foot to get a pic.Decipher where these deer go and come from,set a stand,be scent free,sit quiet,become proficient with my bow/gun,make a good shot on the animal and sit still for weeks on end to get the shot on a deer I would like to kill.There isn't a single person on this board that is totally old school.SO take a better look at what you use before you judge someone else.

Its good to see that they caught it though,Now tack on a few more years at $50-$60,000 a year to house these POS and we are all good.If you make jail a place that's easy to live in doing time for some broken laws isn't a big deal to these a-holes.

No not me,he meets a young guy that hunts the same area,lets him in on some info about some nice deer in the area that is state land because the "young man" is probably a good person and Early rips him apart here.I just don't understand why it makes a difference to anyone how anyone hunts as long as its legal.We are all in the same club here and fight for the same cause.Why would early care how he hunts,he isn't harming anyone and doing what 70-80% of the people on this sight do to get their deer.

BS,I use trail cams,arial photos,scent killers,scent loc,compound bows,newest optics and guns I can and anything I can to make me hunt better. All I have to say is that all these hunting videos that put the loud music in the suck donkey crank!!!! I dont mind a little bit but man I go to the woods(and used to like the older vids that have a little music or no music) because it was real,you heard the woods noises and that was what you needed to hear.I like hard rock music to and am one of those dorks that you see blasting my music in my truck but leave it there.Thats the major reason I quit watching hunting shows because they try to hollywood it all up.Screw those shows!!!

Think about it from our point of view,your first post is to make a documentary about hunting and we know nothing about you.This sight has been ini-dated with scammers and people looking to make us and our loved sport bad and like a bunch of scumbags.Thats why I said scum,if you are indeed looking to do a positive look at our sport then most of us would gladly help.Not knowing who you are makes us all a little apprehensive.What are in the state are you from?I would gladly sit down with you and talk about it,but until then I still will be a little on the cautious side.

if you go with a mechanical check out Ulmer Edge,frickin awesome head.I have never really liked 4 blade heads becasue I could never get them to fly good

When you sighted in your bow for broadheads did you do alot of shooting that day?When I sight in with broadheads I make somewhat of a day out of it.I do stuff around the house and every half hour go take "fresh shots".

My neighbor was a big time big game hunter,he hunted everything from moose,bear,sheep,caribou,elk and deer.Before he passed a few years back on one of our many nightly sit down talks I asked him if he had to choose one caliber out of all of them made what would it be and why.He choose the 270 and stated many animals that where taken with it,including a 73 inch moose that was killed in Newfoundland.Lower recoil,ease of ammo acquisition and it shoots flatter than the Ole 06.Go with the 270 and don't look back
