  1. monroe tractor. i guess they have a few locations around the state. the binghamton location is the one i went to.
  2. The thing that sold me on the mahindra was the dealer. The new holland and kabota dealer wouldnt give me the time of day when i was shopping. the JD and kioti dealers had their price ($4k and $3k higher) and that was the price period. my mahindra dealer listened to me, came up with a couple of different options for what i was trying to accomplish, then made the price work. he still calls me about once a month to make sure im happy. when your spending that much money the whole package is what you need to look for.
  3. check with some real estate agents. you never know.
  4. quite a few camps for sale in that area. spent a couple of weekends at bowman st. park and was surprised at the amount of for sale signs around. both deer and turkey at every posted sign!
  5. yes i do all the repairs myself. this is the third ford pick-up ive run over the 300k marker. what stinks about it is frame/drivetrain on the first 2 had lots of life left but the bodys disappear to the winter salt. my current one isnt far behind.
  6. I drive mine till the bodys fall off. mileage doesn't scare me, my pick up has 303000 miles on it, my wifes expedition has 150000 and my daily driver tracker has 173000, but sadly it has succumed to the ny salt, and is missing 2 cab mounts, so it is awaiting replacement. my theory is if its not broke (except for timing belts) dont fix it. ive been in the automotive industry for 29 years and have noticed allot of things get fixed that aren't broken, drive up the cost of operation, and many times are detrimental to the life of the vehicle. so if it works just drive it.
  7. One of the old timers i hunted with when i was younger had a saying that he would use when one of the group would be having a long rough season, 'all the horns are good for is to stir the pot'. guess he was talking about more than the stew pot!
  8. Just starting to cut here in chenango county....last year there was still standing into january.
  9. Here is some of my opinions: With the surrounding woods, particularly mature forests, just get planting. if you plant with a year round focus you will attract and keep most deer in the area close at hand. Yes deer come and go and wander around, but if you keep a proper year round food source they wont be far. Road frontage can be used if planted for non hunting times, beware road hunters do watch. trails are what you make of them. if you use them with your atv only during deer season, you will pressure the deer off the property, but if the trails get routinely used the deer will become accustomed to the noise/motion and pay no attention to it. just ask any old school farmer about seeing deer while spreading manure. just my opinions hope it all works out for you!
  10. if you register at cornell and hunt the management areas, you can print dmp tags with a 2/day limit. there is some parks area you can hunt but most is bow only. http://www.cornellplantations.org/our-gardens/natural-areas/stewardship/deer http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/82382.html
  11. Well if your appointment isnt until the 23rd, tell them you will be out of town for 2 weeks, hit the first week of bow, get it fixed and be almost mobile for regular season. Best of luck however it comes out. Why cant things like this happen in january?
  12. Do they? 66mph on the interstate is breaking the law. when was the last time you received a ticket for 66 in a 65 zone? when was the last time a ticket was issued for an open pepsi in the cup holder? its an open container law not an open beer law. most seasoned officers understand the difference between 'serve and protect' and 'enforcer of the state'. Those that dont are the ones that need to resign.
  13. Venison veal....... parm cheese and sauce please!
  14. regardless of the timing, pretty cool pic!
  15. This might be a good place for some thro-n-grow. i have found in the past that just because the ground seems firm, if its edging a swamp the water table is real close, and makes a mud wallow if you attempt to till it. also when clearing be mindful about what and the amounts your spraying, with the water that close a little could go a long way. just my opinions.
  16. plant it. if we get a very late winter just cut it back if it starts getting too big. just my opinion.
  17. when you said he was on you trail cam you didnt say he was sitting on it! spectacular footage!
  18. A whole lot less money than if he stayed in D.C.........I lost about 30% today because i could not get to my customers on the east end of the vestal parkway for a better part of 3hr. i wonder if i can send the white house a bill? Hey predate... did you happen to see the array of aircraft in the air? i saw a large twin rotor chopper and a dark sleek single rotor, but no air traffic out of tri-county. curious if airforce 1 was at link?
  19. Not only trail cams, but just about everyone carries a cell phone with a camera on it. if these critters are being spotted by multiple people, why has no one snapped a pic or 2? Could one be travelling through? sure. is there a breeding population? doubtful yet. But can someone just get picture!
  20. General rule of thumb is 5hp (at the pto) per foot of tiller. I bought a 5ft for my 3016 mahindra and the dealer was hesitant about selling it to me, but it has worked good so far. if the soil is to heavy or packed i just pick a slower gear and let the tiller churn. hope that helps.
  21. culver is right on the money. my old J.C. Higgins happens to like winchester.....Sorry Doc didnt want to bring up a bad subject!
  22. Thats what they said about the Ar's in vietnam.....
