anytime I hunt a new piece of state land I pull up Google sat maps to find roads buildings and water. It won't tell where the deer are but will give you a general look at the property. I hope this helps. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

biz.... are you trying to cook your cat? lol Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk -
the guns I rely on for most of the hunting season have glass on them. I do have a few older guns that I won't tap for a scope that I occasionally take out, but for the most part I prefer the glass. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

I started mine with simple things... walking through the woods identifying tracks, nests, droppings. we shot bb's into the back yard. as they grow their views can change. I have one that will only go into the woods during deer season, one that only wants to fish, one that always wants to be in the woods but is soft hearted and gets sad when the cat brings a rabbit into the yard, and my 7yr old always has a camera in his hand. all kids are different.. take it slow, and listen. you can turn him off just as quick at that age by forcing him or scaring him by noise. good luck have fun! wny.... it's simply a case of people not understanding what a private entity is. we are all guests here. if we chose to stay, we play by the owners rules.. period. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

the problem I've run into with polaris, Hansell and gretel, surveyit, and angroid.. or Google maps for that matter... if you lose cell service it gets kind of wacky. it will quit working or lose track of where you are and becomes unreliable. I have an etrac as well and it been pretty reliable.. even in heavy canopy. just remember extra batteries! Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

depends on what the gun likes.. my mini 30 and no 1 in .270 prefer particular hand loads. my 44 carbine will shoot anything well. my Nagant likes 203 gr. silver bear and my jc Higgins 20 ga groups winchester the best. the only way to know is to shoot, shoot and shoot. this does 2 things, you find out what the gun likes and you get comfortable with the gun which is possibly the biggest key to success. let em grow... if you have a shale bed on the surface (bed rock) making It suitable planting soil is a long procsess. However rocky soil can be turned with a tiller with no more problems then plowing/disc. in many situations you aren't rolling as much dirt, usually only 4 to 6 inches with a tiller instead of the 12 to 18in with a plow or subsoiler... less dirt turned.. less rocks to deal with. your also done in half the time because you make half the number of passes. my tiller has passed grape fruit sized rocks and dinner plate slabs with out skipping a beat. so don't dismiss ideas because you don't use them. Clover Maintenance
tuckersdaddy replied to sailinghudson25's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
as you get your soil pH corrected a lot of the weed will subside. if its just clover keep it mowed... add lime and fertilizer as needed and let it ride... unless you would like to plant other stuff. you can simply mow, overseed then run a cultipacker over it. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk -
I wonder if the bear sits in the stand when it's not occupied? lol Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

cool practice video! you had the same problem I had with my go pro on my hat.... when you look straight at the target all good.. (except could use some zoom) but when I look through the sight the camera looks somewhere else..... have you tried mounting it on the bow? just curious if any one has tried it with success... Try this... put the beer back and buy the condoms.... helping people in need is one thing, its done more in the private sector then the gov. Has ever done, but constantly being taken advantage of without the ability to curb it leaves a bad taste in the mouth of every tax payer. As far as docs soc. security he paid it his whole working life no one would complain about that except the life long system milkers who see it as there money. The nanny state that continues to grow is the down fall of the american society. When 30% of my pay is scored before i get to see it, then property tax, sales tax, on and on, to the point i have to pick and choose what my family eats based on this weeks coupons an the person in front of me at the store gets to buy stuff based on the picture on the side of the box because its not 'there' money, yep leaves a very bad thorn in my side. And the next time you get a pay check ask yourself... did this come from a person or company that figured out how to make a few bucks or some one who collects every month.

And where dose that dollar come from.... the employees, truck driver, warehouse operator, and farmer. So every dollar they pay in tax they get back $1.73? Oh and every dollar taken in taxes has already been spent and then some...
-
$1.73 back for every dollar spent.... hmmm must be the new math.

Grow.... i'm not pointing a finger at you saying you didnt do your part... but there is a significant number of hunters who dont or wont fill dmps. As the number of hunters decrease, the age of us as a group increasing (meaning the less able or willing to going out in adverse conditions, and less concerned about meat in the freezer) the less opportunity the state has to keep the herd in check. So you end up with ideas being tossed around that are not so popular. There are alot of other issues in play as well such as land usage. We have here in chenango a group (do to religious reasons) will not allow hunting on their property. No big deal accept it is a 600 acre chunk in between 2 5000 acre sections of state land. As the deer get pressured its a no brainer where they head to. Now toss in hunters who wont fill dmps or decide to wait until the last week to consider it, and the harvest is minimized. By using some of the methods suggested it forces the hand of the hunter to harvest does before they are pressured off of huntable property, or keep those who wish not to use dmps out of the field decreasing pressure. It is becoming a problem for the state. you and others here who own a chunk of property, plot it and use solid management practices dont have the same concerns, and are negatively affected, but in a state with as much state maintained property as ny has the view picture, short and long term is quite different.

I have no problem with deer hunters trophy hunting. if you choose to to to sit in your stand and wait for the deer you have seen on your cameras all summer, best of luck and i hope it works out.... however the only effective way for the state to curb the deer population is to have hunters harvest deer. in many areas of the state hunters start with 4 or 5 tags in their pocket. if you are going after a specific rack and choose not to fill tags, the state loses 75% to 80% of their ability to curb the population per hunter. by using some of these ideas it forcing the hand of some hunters to take a deer that they may normally pass on. As far as youth seasons are concerned, Suck it up and deal with it. Its giving the next generation the opportunity to get out int the woods without having the pressure of large numbers of hunters in the woods. in our family it allowed grandfathers who dont hunt cold weather any longer to spend time in the woods with the kids... memories and lessons that last a life time.

tractor opinions please

guess it depends on the dealers involved. the kioti dealer in the area wanted $1500 more.
