Not only NY, head down south and try and start a small business and you might be suprised by some of the crooked small time politics you incounter there too. Just seems to be the basic character of our nation, corrupt politics and greedy bastards who wanna make it hard for anyone to get ahead unless they get their cut..

Last season the gobblers were quiet around my area of lower Ulster, this season they are none existent..i have hunted turkeys for decades and have never seen anything like this? my season was over weeks ago.

I have been cooking wild turk legs for years, basically stew them in beef stock for 3 or more hours till really tender and flake the meat off the bone. then add carrots onions garlic and diced bell red or green pepper, thicken alittle with corn starch and pour over a fluffy bed of spanish rice.

The Budget votes passing will just speed the demise of people who are just barely hanging on and who can no longer pay their tax bill.But on the bright side the passing of budget will also speed the inevitable collapse of the teachers unions and the death grip they have on our stuggling townships... As i said before, nature will take its course...

RUN N GUN...you get out just as the sky starts to lighten and sit there and listen (all ears). then when you hear gobbling you head to that area but not close enough for the turkey/turkeys to see you. Get with a couple hundred yards to the gobbling at best and sit by a tree maybe set a hen decoy and start you calling and dont move, at this point you are trying to get the turkey to come to you.. When running and gunning you need a good amount of land because this wont work on ten or 20 acres in most cases, need big areas, state land(be carefull) or farms. You have to be fast and scoot thru the woods silently but quickly, hence RUN and gun. Its alot of fun. Find big open areas of woods with varying terrain and walk along paths and listen for the gobbles and head towards them....thats it in a nutshell...

If you have bagged a gobbler this spring consider yourself fortunate because here in lower Ulster county turkey hunting has ceased to exist. I have only heard one gobble since mid April and havent seen a bird at all this season, and have already taken up other projects around the property ordinarily reserved for the month of June. I do have alot of Black bears messing with my turkey blinds.

NY hunting is the best, love the NY woods, mountains, and swamps, nothin like it anywhere....welcome back.

Ted stories are getting old. He's just a coward plain n simple. i've shot Toms with bellies full of grass seed that i was attempting to grow a lawn with! But mostly bellies full of bug parts. Makes me wonder how i can even eat wild turkey meat after seeing what the hell they eat?

i have already pulled 3 from me and one from my son yesterday. they seem alittle worse than last year.

Just wondering how one hunts turkeys without calling? Funny when i have toms sounding off around me like that im luring them in with my box or mouth call.
