  1. Ole timer we are already well aware of your disdain for Americas youth and giving them every chance to maybe get hooked on the very same sport that true sportsman(unlike you)in our state are hooked on. man does the remote chance of seeing a youth hunter during your hunting season freak you out that much?the funny part is how you carry on for freakin ever with your long winded posts and ideoligies on something i can sum up for you in one sentance. you just don't give a crap about the future of our sport or about youngsters getting into the woods "PERIOD" try that next time and stop with your one man song and tap dance yarns.
  2. how charming, your a regular Huck Finn...can't you ever just state a freakin point without giving us the story of your life????
  3. oct 1st is awesome!! iffen the little buggies are gonna give you the wilburs than i don't know what to say?
  4. Sweet, I know where you gonna be first thing bowhunting season starts :-) i'm hoping he sticks around....
  5. this big turkey and his buddy came by and trashed my blind stole my decoy and made me happy the season is over...
  6. yea this is the same story you hear every recession about how NY is going to become a ghost town and everyone is running south, heard this in the 70s 80s 90s etc etc. some how the doom theory never materializes and NY still has the highest paid for any profession, highest property values, and best business opportunities in the country..
  7. born n breed New Yorker, no better place, seen too many leave and return, other states just don't have what we have right here...
  8. Help Keep SkyRocketing Taxes "DOWN"!!! support CAP!!!! bonacic.nysenate.gov
  9. your choice of organizations shows quite a contradiction there ole Doctur? NYB which is anti crossbow to the bitter end and the NRA that supports crossbow hunting in NY State. seems you have a problem pickin sides there fella ;D , LOL, ROTFLMAO, so on and so forth.
  10. i fell sorry for handicapped children but we have buses in our disrtict that transport 2 handicapped children, with one driver and one monitor per child, than the bus drive 1.5 hours away and these 3 people hang out in town while these kids are recieving their special ed? also we have one track star in the district that the send up to Albany to compete for an intire weekend with a driver, a coach, and they put them all up in a hotel and they get paid for 18 hours a day while sitting in a hotel room all because this kid can run???
  11. you might be right, privatizing education may be the way to go. but it might well be a pipe dream when you look at the power these teachers unions have over politicians both repulicon and democrapt. if things keep going the way they are going the stangle hold teachers have on many states in this country will only lead to disaster..i think the system has to self destruct first, kinda a natural death, then privatization may just happen, something will happen and it won't be pretty or good for our kids and i think it's already well under way, this budget axed 22 teachers out of my district dispite a 6 percent increase, just imagine if Cuomo's 2 % cap becomes law. oh out of the 22 they cut were all young bright energetic teachers, the old i couldnt give a crap ones are sitting tight, but they will tell you it's all about the kids HUH?
  12. i'm not too sure privatizing education is the answer, look at our privatized healthcare system here in the US, we pay more for less than any other westernized country in the world and have insurers that will give you the boot if your too sick and have been raising rates 20% a year for the last 20 years? not to get into a healthcare debate here but putting education into Wall streets hands would not be a solution.
  13. funny you mention that, i have picked my kids up at high school many times and yea the teachers are scampering out at 2:10 with their briefcases before the kids even come out to the buses!!!
  14. if the teachers unions and education system were a corporation it would have ZERO investors with the performance and product they produce, bad investment no matter how you twist it... TIED with POLAND!!!!!!!at number 16 world wide....20% dropout rate!.....other countries children can write and read ENGLISH better than American Kids???.... yet we as taxpayers are forced to contribute to this BAD investment.. the teachers union has become a huge fat drunkin giant that is staggering and ready to fall ;D
  15. Burt, stop you are breaking my heart. That's exactly what they want you to believe, they do squat and get paid a ton. My taxes went up $1600 for this year no notice just the increase in my mortgage, so guess how I voted. $9000 a year for what?? They play on your sympathy that they are hurting the children if you don't pass the budget. Know what hurts the children when their parents lose their job , they also don't have the same benefits the teachers do. So the teachers are just protecting themselves. On Long Island we just pay high school taxes so our children move to another state to live because they can't afford to live here, does this make any sense to you. So the tax payers get nothing for their money, our children have to move so who makes out on the deal the teachers. So don't tell me how hard they work you insult us. Also remember this they pensions are guaranteed by NYS of when the pension fund loses money from bad investments the tax payer must make up the difference. How many workers have that type deal, when we lose money in our 401K it's no one is backing up our losses. You touched a raw nerve!!! Dave thankyou Dave!
  16. most of us here are a product of the NY state education system, bet you most can't write an email without spell check. third world nations are outdoing us in math and science??? most Chinese kids can name more US presidents and tell us more about the history of our nation than we can!!
  17. i'm hearing the usual justifications for why teachers need to be compensated so well, yea it's the whole well our starting salaries are sooo low, we need all this education, it's real hard teaching kids anything these days etc, etc, etc....but the truth is the moneys all gone, dried up, NY state is in deep serious, serious trouble here folks! i live close to one of the nicer towns in the Hudson valley and another store just went vacant this week. for sale signs just starting to pop up everywhere! people trying to sell 600k houses for 365k and no one's coming to look! teachers and their powerfull unions can just go on and sing their "Justify Me" song forever but it doesnt matter...for the short term they are going to and are laying off the young and brightest teachers keeping the ole "you cant fire me" ones in a job, WHAT is that going to get US!!! man these teachers unions keep telling us how important your childs education is, than prove it!!! they say that 2000 teachers will be layed off on Long Island alone.
  18. the whole situation gives everyone alot to bitch about but the truth that no one wants to confront is that the whole system will die a natural death, it will simply self destruct and like many things we see in nature as hunters it will self correct itself. as tax revenues continue to decrease its just a matter of time and the process has already begun, thousands of teachers being laid off state wide despite all the additional spending, oh well
  19. so we should keep throwing money at a system that has brought us from number 1 in the world in education to number 16. my God we are tied with Poland???????????and this all happened since the late 1970s when we were on top of the world in education! a few short decades. many NY state high schools have close to a 20% dropout rate!
  20. why is it every time the teachers get a raise i gotta pay more? almost all of the school budgets in NY have been approved, well get ready to pay more folks, get ready to see more foreclosure signs in your neighborhoods folks. get ready to see more businesses scrambling to get out of NY! how the hell can these teachers sit in their homes and in good conscience justify their salary increases and beefy benefits while their neighbors are being kicked out of their homes by banks and people are losing their homes and jobs nation wide? has this become a nation for teachers? What more do they want???????????? i here more people bitching about their school taxes and when i ask them "did you vote on the last budget" in your town they look at me sheepishly and say no????? people are trying to sell 250 thousand dollar homes in NY that have a 10k a year tax bill???????????how the hell is that gonna work??? last recession people in our state sold and ran south and bought a home with lower taxes, this recession they lose their home because they can't sell and move to an apartment! where are all these T party people, anti tax increase groups, reduce government groups in our state...i saw them all summer long with signs posted at the bank about stop big Gov etc, bla , bla,.. people driving by beeping in support, chanting yea, yea, and everyone you talk to saying yea, yea i like their ideas, but then the school teachers wanna levy yer taxes by 10% and no one shows UP!!! we are freakin DOOMED folks, get ready. i'm gonna eat teachers, i hear they're well marbled
