I just want to ask one question of all the guys who have witnessed the hoarders first hand, and I realize the answer will be anecdotal at best. I'm just curious how many of the people spoken of in the above posts are black. The ones you see in line time and time again, waiting outside the store before opening, etc. Statically depending on where you live it should all average out to be no more than 2 in 10.

If you like canoeing then the section of the Raquette river between long lake and Tupper lake is a 3-4 day trip with only one portage around the Raquette falls with both warm water and cold water fishing. Of the many things I believe is harming hunting or hunting's image are modern American food companies and industrial farm practices. Food companies sell you an image of the perfect farm on the box but have nothing near that in reality. The uniform blandness of industrially raised proteins combined with the lost of heritage varieties of fruits and vegetables is damaging our health, the environment and creating a generation that does not make the connection between the land and sea and and our food supply. All these things combine to lessen the appreciation of wild foraged food, hunted or gathered. Obviously this is more prevalent in the cities than in the countryside but even in small town America you can find many who only know of a rabbit or guinea pig as a pet and not the domesticated food source it was and is still today. Mushroom hunters don't mind when people politely refuse an offering of wild gathered mushrooms (out of fear the gatherer did not know his stuff) since it means more for us! But we all know that look and hear that voice inside us saying "you don't know what your missing". Hunting will mean something different to everyone, but at it's most basic level hunting is a way to connect with something primal and not quite explainable in all of us.

There is much you don't see and quite a lot you imagine you see. Even if the confederate battle flag (the one which has become most widely known) did not represent slavery, oppression, treason and armed rebellion, why would you allow the flag of a vanquished rebel army to fly over the land that blood and treasure was spent to secure? What if we fought ISIS and won but then let them fly that black flag because a number of them pined for the old days when ISIS was in control? The south lost, isn't the flag flying over southern government buildings an insult to all the northern soldiers who died? Take the friggin flag down and put it in a museum or fly it at home (so we all know where you stand) but it has no place on ANY government building. Deny you know what the Battle Flag of the Confederacy stands for but when German Neo-Nazi's could not use the Nazi Swastika flag because it is illegal to display that flag in Germany they turned to the Battle Flag of the Confederacy as a substitute. They know what that flag stands for even if you don't or choose not to "see" what it stands for.

for deer and geese i have seen one thing that can work. Motion sensors connected to sprinklers, they come on when the animals in question comes near and goes off when they move away. I think you can see some in action on you tube, but it's for larger animals.

Might I suggest that if your gal is interested in target shooting an air gun may be the solution, ammo is cheap and plentiful, they are more powerful than ever and honestly it's fun to shoot.
