  1. It might not even chamber....If it did, it should go out the bore OK, since lead is softer than steel, but Lord only knows where it would go after it left the bore..
  2. They are a copy of the original stock....Google boyd's stocks and you can check them out..
  3. I checked Boyds Stocks and can can get Krag stocks there..They also offer handguards separately.. One of my buddies bought a Boyd's stock for his Garand, and it is very nice.
  4. You might check some stock manufacturers on the net, such as Boyd's...They may make replacement stock kits for Krags, as they do for Garands and some other military rifles. Good luck !
  5. I don't have either rifle in hand, but judging from the pictures and the dimensions they are not even close.. The Krag has a much longer barrel than the Springfield. Also, the rear handguard on the Krag is cut out for the rear sight.. Since the 03A3 uses a peep sight, there is no cutout on the rear handguard.
  6. Certainly not the FIRST time I've been incorrect... If it interests you that much, I'll give you my ex wife's number and she can tell you about DOZENS of other times I was incorrect..
  7. The only brass that I do not FL resize is new, unfired casings..With them I run the die down just far over the expander ball and then load 'em..
  8. Congrats......Now we start calling you "Granny" Instead of Growie !!
  9. Providing that all cases were FL resized, it seems that seating depth is the most likely issue...You are already seating the SSTs to a shorter COL, but those plastic tips can make a big difference, as can basic bullet shape. Now if you are neck sizing, that's another variable to be considered. I full length resize all of my hunting loads.
  10. All casings full length resized ? If so, possibly the ogive on the SST is farther forward on the bullet than the Sierra and the bullet is contacting the lands..An easy check would be to seat the SSTs a little deeper in the case on one of the rounds that doesn't chamber well and see if that helps.
  11. I think you could use some sensitivity training... Papist is conducting a class next week...Email FSW and he'll sign you up for it...
  12. ?????? What brought THAT on ?? Did your dog die today, or what ??
  13. LOL ... No, it smells like ammonia, which I believe is it's main active ingredient.. At least it is better than US issue GI bore cleaner...That stuff REALLY stinks !! It makes Hoppe's smell like a bed of roses !
  14. My current favorite is the Sweet's 7.62...It is very aggressive and will get the copper fouling out, although it may take some swabbing..When you are done using it, be sure to run a couple of patches with oil or WD 40 through the bore to clean out the Sweet's ....
  15. I have a 1934 Moisin and it is very accurate also..It has been rearsenaled..Probably captured by the Finns in the 1939 winter war..Some of the rearsenaled Russian MNs were rebarreled by the Finns with Sako barrels...
  16. If you called ME Eugene, I'd walk right by you too.......No dog deserves to be called Eugene... Call him WOOLY !! Good call name...I'll bet when he grows up he'll run around looking for BONES like Wooly does...
  17. I had to replace a front tire on the 9N... HOPEFULLY it will be mounted and I can it back on the tractor today... Planning to have 3 acres ready to plant this weekend..2 acres will be oats/rut strut clover mix.. The adjacent acre will be rape, radishes and turnips...
  18. Busting a flock is definitely my first choice...I like to listen near known roost sites in the morning, and when the birds start tree talking I just walk in under the roost trees and flush them, hopefully in several directions.. However, many times you don't get a chance for a bust..Don't short change blind calling in the fall..Find an area with a lot of fresh scratching and just settle in and get comfortable...Call every few minutes with soft yelps and clucks, trying to sound like a contented feeding flock..Scratch in the leaves..I have called in entire flocks that way, as well as singles and small groups..
  19. The Chinese pheasants have been here since the 1870s or thereabouts.. I think they have earned their "valuable immigrant" status.. Hey, we let the ITALIANS stay, didn't we..?
  20. I really like some of the tastefully done alterations, like yours... When I hunted moose in Newfoundland one of our party ( a Canadian) used a very nice sporterized #4 SMLE.. It was one of the nicest ones I've seen, unlike the crude, chopped up abortions they used to sell for $10 as "sporters" back in the 50's and 60's...He killed the biggest bull of the trip with it. Shortly before I retired I was working with a young fellow who was an amateur gunsmith...He was building very nice full stock sporters from Yugo 48s and 48As.. I wish I had him make me one...
  21. Sorry, I'm no expert... However, I do seem to recall that at one time Brownings were being manufactured in Japan, and then ASSEMBLED in Utah...
  22. Interesting looking conversion, 45-70... Is that the issue stock cut down, or an aftermarket stock ?
  23. Happy Birthday, Larry ! Hope ya get lucky <<wink>>....
