    Any projectile can be deflected by branches/brush/twigs INCLUDING shotgun slugs... Tiny toothpick sized twigs are probably not an issue..Pencil sized twigs might be... A lot depends on the distance of the twigs/brush from the target. The closer the target is to the potential source of deflection, the less the effect will be.. In simple terms, if the bush is CLOSE to the deer, the deflection might be negligible.. If the bush is close to your muzzle the deflection will be much greater, possibly enough to cause a miss or a bad hit..

    Why not ?? The bullets are expanding type hunting bullets... No laws against them... Does the word BALLISTIC make them evil ?

    Getting married the first day of GUN season ?? That's really SICK, man...!!.. I never heard of such a thing.. You should consider cultivating a better class of friends..

    This will be my 49th opening day of NY gun season.. Even though I don't get as pumped as I used to get, the anticipation is still there.. Stands are all in place, rifles are sighted in, gear is all assembled.. All I'll have to do is get up Saturday morning and make the 5 minute drive to the property... Hunt safe and good luck to everyone...

    It will probably take me a couple of hours to get all of my duck/goose/turkey hunting gear out of my truck and replace it with my deer hunting stuff...A labor of love...<<sigh>>....

    It has been many, many years since I filled a NY doe tag opening day. I feel my chances at a buck are HIGHEST on opening day and I don't want to risk spooking a buck by shooting a doe. HOWEVER, I have eaten a couple of doe tags in that unit (8X) in recent years after passing up does early and then not getting another chance at a good ( adult) one.. So I may just decide to pop a big doe Saturday or Sunday, as long as I am reasonably sure there is not a buck with her.

    Do you have the model with the opening lever on the starboard side of the reciever, or is it on top of the tang, like most single barrels ?

    A friend of mine runs a 300 yard extension cord from his cabin to his tower blind. He has satellite TV along with the usual heaters and other comforts.

    Yeah, I love it... One opening morning maybe 20-25 years ago, I decided to try to count the shots I heard opening morning.. By 9:00 AM I had counted over 200 shots, and quit counting. Since rifles have become legal here, I hear MUCH less shooting, and many times it is a single shot, rather than the volleys of 3 to 5 that were so common when everyone was using shotguns.

    Miranda Lambert is meeting me in my fully carpeted, insulated box blind about about 9:00 PM the night before opening day.. When is legal shooting time ? Not that I CARE....

    Although I nearly always have a revolver ( usually a 4" Smith M 66) when I am mowing or working on the property, I don't usually carry it while I am hunting.. Got enough OTHER stuff to carry, I suppose, and after all, I DO have a rifle...
