To quote a line from " Blazing Saddles"... " Oh no...Mongo STRAIGHT"... Actually in 1972 when I was in the Navy and serving on a destroyer home ported in Brooklyn, a few of my buddies and I went into a bar on 47th St in Manhattan called " Dirty Edna's"... By the time we ordered a beer we had realized that there no WOMEN in the place..Then we noticed some guys getting real FRIENDLY with each other. We formed a little circle, BACK TO BACK, and then quickly drank our beers and got out of there..LOL...

And what would those clubs be called ? " The Royal Order of Rump Rangers " ? " The Never Leave Your Buddy's Behind Club" ? " The ALLOW ME TO PUSH UP YOUR STOOL Lounge" ? " The Rock Hudson Memorial Twinkie Emporium" ? " The Truman Capote Pinkie Dinkie Club " ?

I understand, Elmer.. I don't own any guns either.. I have a few good friends that let me borrow thier firearms when I go hunting, but I don't remember thier names, or where they live. I think it's time for my NAP...<<yawn>>...

No law against carrying a loaded gun on the road. It is illegal to hunt from the road or to shoot from or across the road, but to my knowledge there is no law prohibiting BEING in or on the road with a loaded firearm. The dude is perfectly within his rights to walk down the road with a loaded gun to protect himself from pumacougars, catamounts, hobgoblins, werewolves, zombies, or deranged Mongolian Jughumpers as long as he is not HUNTING or firing the gun FROM or ACROSS the road.

Browning A-5s are classic shotguns...I have a round knob Belgian 20 gauge that is one of my favorite small game guns..My first 12 ga 3" magnum was an A-5, but unfortunatly I sold it.. At distance, it is hard to tell an A-5 from a Remington 11 or a Savage 775. All mechanically similar, but the Brownings have better fit and finish.

I heard that they had been re-named the " Washington Foreskins" in honor of all the dickheads in congress... -

Come on, Dinsdale..Don't hold back..Tell us how ya REALLY feel..!!..LOL... I guess you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, but the accutrigger , along with it's clones made by other manufacturers of inexpensive rifles, is certainly an improvement over the creepy, hard to adjust monstrosities they used to put on them.
-
Savage has made accurate rifles for years...A buddy of mine has a M 110 that he bought in the 60s that is a tackdriver. Used to be, the triggers sucked. However, with the current production accutrigger, that fault has been remedied.

Since the OP originally asked about the TC Encore, I'll pass along some info, albeit second hand. A buddy of mine used an Encore in 7mm Rem Mag as his deer rifle. He said that he had formerly owned a Ruger M 77 in the same chambering. According to him, the Ruger kicked like a mule, while the Encore was much more comfortable to shoot, perhaps because of it's stock design. I've had 3 M77's,and they do tend to be kickers . I had one in .338 Win Mag that used to beat the SNOT out of me off the bench. I have never and WILL never own an Encore, because I think they are ugly as a side order of s**t, but that is only my personal taste. Many of my friends own them and I think they are a solid, reliable, versatile firearm.

I didn't get my brassicas in until August 18th, but they are doing very well...The bigger turnips are about baseball size and they go down from there to ping pong ball size.. The bigger radishes are perhaps and inch in diameter and about 8 inches long..The rape came up well but the deer are mowing it down so it hasn't got that tall.. My Clover/ Oats plot went in about 10 days after the brassicas..It is lush..The oats are about a foot tall and heavy..The best part is the clover came up SUPER, even in the few spots where the oats are sparse..I planted the NWTF subsidized Rut N Strut which has 4 kinds of clover, and it is doing really well..Should be even better next year..

The .300 Weatherby is a specialty cartridge. It is designed to kill big game animals at long range, and it does a very good job of that. However, there is a price to be paid for that long range performance. It kicks like a mule...Muzzle blast is substantially louder than standard centerfire rounds. It is expensive to shoot. It requires a 24 inch barrel or preferably a 26 inch barrel to realize its ballistic advantage..With a shorter barrel it is essentially a LOUD, hard kicking 30-06. For the average hunter, shooting at average ranges ( say 400 yards and closer) there are MANY less expensive, more user friendly choices for the average hunter, and ESPECIALLY for the beginning hunter. To say that the .300 Weatherby mag is a BETTER choice for the average hunter at normal ranges than the (name this cartridge) is absolutely ludicrous , and anybody who endorses the .300 WM for the average hunter is absolutely clueless..

Yeah...I'd be interested in seeing that " FACT" list also...

I have found the remains of weed plots several times... It was always on private property and on one particular property I'm pretty sure the landowner is the one cultivating the stuff. I always keep my mouth shut and mind my own business. The one property is rabbit heaven...What concern is it of mine if the landowner wants to cultivate a little wacky weed for his own use or to help pay the taxes ? I'm just grateful he gives me permission to hunt there.

I heard that Larry goes COMMANDO under his Carharts... Just a rumor that was going around the beauty salon...

Good luck, Grizz...Wish I was going with ya...NF is a great trip...

My experience has been the same as Doewhacker's..Muscle hits leave a lot of blood at first and then dry up. Maybe he'll survive...Perhaps he won't.. That's one reason I gave up bowhunting...Too many blood trails( a few mine, many of my buddies when I went along to help track) WITHOUT a dead deer at the end.
