They got a few guys with it right next to our lease a half dirt have hard road runs through ,my buddy watched em shoot it and he said they got stopped by the Dec and ticketed but they got to keep this nice buck, I was like that sounds unusual but who knows , go to work a day later and a girl at work was tellin me she knew who it was and it was a decoy buck my buddy never actually saw em take the deer just assumed glad they were caught we have a bad problem on the dirt road that runs through our lease , caught a guy last year said he shot a 10 point from the dirt road out in our field thought he hit it, told him to get lost , went and checked it out and he missed but still posted signs every where and people still think they, can shoot on our lease,

look up "how to process a deer in 8 minutes" not in the field but how iv come to butcher my deer always found the ban saw a hassle

The faster the Ibo speed of a bow which increases Ibo of your heavier arrows equals more kinetic energy. So yes a faster bow does yield advantage, the faster something is going the harder its gonna hit when it comes to a stop depending on weight, same with ballistics on guns, each has its advantage and disadvantage some faster some slower, all up to you to find out which suits you best

With some research online ya can get more tips on arrow weights and calculations then I can, explain correctly through a message , find your insert type and weight , nocks, vanes , blazers are 6 grs a piece etc, look around for other guys on fourums shooting your same setup and see what, their shooting with, good results its a place to start, no 2 arrows are the same some are better some are worse, straigtness , accuracy to gpi, the more ya pay,the better ys get usually, eastons are real, great arrows, arrow spine is good to pat attention to, when,in doubt its better to be on the stiffer side then, the softer
-
I dont go all out but I do pay attention to grains per inch, shooting 62 pounds 7.7 grains per inch,28 " arrow 400 spine I'm right around 299 fps, with a 360 grain arrow, I didn't mean to come off as confusing just personal preference how far ya wanna go with,it, ya can change insert weights to make them front heavy , back heavy blah blah blah, but basics is knowing what your arrow weighs shooting it through a chrono and I don't know the calculations for kinetic energy so I dont bother most bows with produce a pass through on the perfect shot and plenty of ass to break bones with, right heads but I base mine off penetration on a stiff target like my glendel, ya gotta tinker and its trial and error with arrows right off the shelf, I went from a 8.4,gpi arrow to a 7.7 and it made about a 8" difference in drop from what I had it zeroed at with the 8.4 arrows,

There's over kill and there's bettering your self with, arrows, ya if I was shooting a tournament id go with over kill down to inserts and fletchs and nocks etc, for hunting there is a line of bettering your self, a light enough arrow to get speed but heavy enough to get good kinetic energy,(knock down),ya get shoot your self in the foot for going real, light to maximize speed or go to,heavy and get way more arrow drop, a middle line has to be found for your bow and set up, yes ya can,go look at an arrow chart pick up some arrows go out and sight in,your bow and go kill an,animal, but if your the type ya wanna be as efficient as possible at every, thing you,do , its good to pay attention to the little things to better your self JMO

I have 1000+ acres I JUST turkey hunt, and another 1000+ private for deer and a 410 acre lease and 200 acres family owned, it really comes down to who you know, so a good step in the right direction is making ALOT of friends, become friends with, farmers , alot of people now a days aren't so quick to jump to say,yes without knowing you, help with chores , become friends with people who know alot of people, good enough friends share land opportunitys, and may introduce you to important people, I hear people saying " I sent letters and emails, why wont any one let me hunt ??" no, land owners wanna put a face to that name, yeah ya might get lucky once and awhile and get a piece to hunt that, way, ya gotta know who's wore likely to let you and who's not, dont waste time on a piece chances are ,your not gonna get a yes, invest time into a few very likely yes's, my 2 cents at least I dont have almost 2500 acres of private land to hunt for no reason,

Iwent from a Hoyt to a Mathews to a pse now have a bowtech experience , Mathews... Junk..hoyt junk. Pse was fast but real stiff hard drawing bow, wanted to jump out ot your hand, grip was odd and very cold on cold days, my experience well I am disappointed with the speed to say the least, but what it lacks in speed it makes up for in its shoot ability, wicked smooth , easy, drawing good valley, let off is incredible, pulling 62 pounds and im only holding 11-12 pounds at full, draw, its quiet, I'm shooting my best I ever have with this bow, but I can say is bowtech comes up with something faster but as shootable as this bow next year ill be on it but I may go for an insanity for a 3d bow, but the experience is a bow hunters dream, the carbon night doesn't appeal to me, I dont like parallel limb bows , good luck with your choice and I agree big time with shoot as many bows as you can and become confortable and pick which suits you best, ( just kidding by the way with the Hoyt and Mathews being junk I just couldn't get a feel for my Hoyt or my z7 extreme, pse does have the fastest bows on the market but the draw stiffness becomes a problem on stand, good luck!

I started shooting every single day starting 3 arrows at 30,40,50,60,50,40,30,20, 3 arrows at each range, you'll be amazed what it does for stregthining your shoulder and becoming muscle memory intuned with your form and bow, and going from 60 yards to 20 the target looks huge ,I can put 3 arrows in 2" group qt 20 3" at 30 4" at 40 5" at 50 and 6" at 60, just simple as shooting 365 days a year and its just like every, other thing that takes skill in the world, the more ya do it, the better you get ,

what the best bow pro shop in your county of NY
asav2013 replied to sweet old bill's topic in Bow Hunting
Ajs in caz hands down for me IV got 3 bows and my girlfriends bow from there and there excellent ,will take an hour to make sure your happy with your setup and are satisfied with a line out the door , plus they will help you with more then just equipment , form and shooting also, they have a 30 target 3d course I shot which was pretty nice since I only get to maybe 2 shoots a year with work I can go relieve some stress and shoot the course on my free time, -
Took one once, id do it again IF conditions were right, I put an arrow in a doe at 25 yards in the creese between the neck and shoulder piled her right there. Angle of the shot makes alot of difference and us gotta know where your gonna hit and what your gonna hit to kill em and not just wound them, heard of a guy who shot one down the esophagus into the chest cavity when it look up at him, idk if I call bs or what
-
They work, not gonna say they improve any thing but the arrow still fly's true, my buddy shot one through an40 target 3d course never had an issue and shot over a 300 cant remember exactly.

is it almost like a click noise? or a pop? on my evo it had the adjustable cams where ya could change your draw stop and some allens and change your draw length with out a press, I know yours doesn't have this but after tighting down those allen screws the first draw would make that noise it is just the screws and string falling in to place , I would take it to your bow shop and ask it may be something it may not but with expensive equipment it never hurts to ask before it becomes a expensive problem. good luck

Rage with break bone all day long. IV shot 2 does with em and hit em dead in the ball of there shoulder and piled em and the arrow stopped in the other shoulder, both needed follow up shots but they flopped right there where I hit em,
-
You kill a deer with a rage and when you get to em all your gonna have to say is "wow look at that hole, absolutely tears em up man, shot 3 blade grim reapers and didnt like em at all flew all kinds of wrong,

IV never understood all the hype from people " I have no where to hunt" I can understand if your from the city but people from the country should have no problem finding places to hunt, I have 1000+ acres of private land I can JUST TURKEY HUNT ON, I HAVE 1000 + more I can deer hunt, not counting my 410 acre lease , only 200 of that 1000 are family owned, do right by people get your name out there be that guy that every land owner knows your a good person, stop in to a farmer doing chores without question pick up a hay bale feed some cows scrape the manure in the gutter , drive by and see them doing hay with no question jump right in the hay mow and stack hay when the land owner offers you money tell them there permission to hunt there land is payment enough, offer vension, if they hunt or there family hunts offer to stay off the property opening week or when ever they want the land to them selves, explain what you have to offer then will benefit, older people love to sit and talk, stop in for an hour to shoot the breeze, buy something from them, DO WHATEVER IS NECESSARY , a little hard work ,a firm hand shake tells alot about a man, show then your willing to go out of your way to help them just to hunt their property,I kill woodchucks for farmers fun for you beneficial for them not loosing equipment and money from hitting a hole, people want every thing handed to them now a days, no hard work comes no reward, gotta get good at it , I'm 18 years old IV been, building these relationships between farmers since I was 12 specially when I turned 16 and could drive , I tried and tried as I might to hunt the farmers land out back of my house for years , just going on my second season leaseing that 410 acres because the owners wife drove my bus I would sit and talk to her instead of sitting in the back screwing around, offered money and vension and help whenever needed,,bang land leased , over many other guys who offered money but not the hospitality and willingness to,go out of there way to be beneficial to the farmer,if all else fails you have just as much land to hunt as I do, its called state lands,

It really depends on how the bow draws. My z7 extreme I had a difficult time pulling 60, my pse evo I was comfortable at 57. Now with my bowtech experience in pulling 62, every bow has there advantages to weight pulled. ,
-
I have not shot the DNA but my last bow was a 2012 evo 6 and I agree , wih lack,of valley, really wanted to Jump out of your hand easy, seem to have a tougher draw real stiff, but man was that bow fast, bought a bowtech experience and it really is an experience, nicest smooths most forgiving bow on the market no doubt but lack, there of the speed, good luck !

IV had a few sights before. Truglo, trophy ridge, copper Jon dead nuts battle axe, and now a spot Hogg Hogg it, all were good sights, but its like every thing else in the world. Ya pay for what ya get , my spot Hogg was $200 and I'm shootin out to 50-60 yards consistently , try and find a aluminum one alot stronger and hold zero much better, the idea of to many pins is false, have great concentration and be able to hold fairly still on target and pay attention to yardage ya only concentrate on that pin you need to use, never used a slider single pin with range adjustment on a tape but may in the future if I get a wild hair, good luck you'll find one that suits you

Dont miss, lol, know of a guy who shoots his crossbow in his shop in the winter, has like 4 block targets and ply wood and it still has a hard time stopping it once the blocks are worn out

We got a diesel f250 at work and a guy who has worked there for almost 4 years now, he's drivin the truck countless times, he decides to borrow one of the smaller bucket tractors and pulled it home on a trailer , after he was done at home drove up the road to the nice and easy which is literally 120 yards up the road, left it running at the pump, went in and played 100$ in fuel pumped it ,went to pull out truck was smokin like hell and running like crap, he called my boss and told him what was going on so my boss said pull back into your house shut the truck off and I'll be ,right there , come to find out the moron pumped $100 worth of gas into a diesel truck! Had to tow it to the shop , drain the tank, run some kind of fluid through it to flush the system and refill it with diesel, all said and done it was about a 800-1000$ screw up, I highly recommend never doing that lol

Beavers, To let them be or get rid of them
asav2013 replied to mike35mmnut's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
trust me they will be a problem eventually, i have a swamp behind my house that i hunt that only has a small creek running through it ya coudlnt even get down with a kayak only reason it becomes a swamp is becuase of high rain falls, the beavers have screwed it up bad they have atleast 5-6 dams becuase beavers make secondary and third dams in case the main one breaks, the swamp is so flooded now ya need chest waders to get thrugh it and some that isnt even possible, the colony has gotten so big we trapped 6 of em out and it didnt even put a dent in the population and its getting worse,, it may be okay seeing yours is already a pond, but ours wasnt and it is now lol, if ya want them there i would keep track of them 3-4 of em aint so bad but when the population outgrows the area they live in other beavers will go up stream to make there own home and start there own familys,
