I'm partial to the 7mm rem mag but I think its a little light for any large bears, so the 300 win mag would prolly be your go to , can hunt from deer (little much ) up to grizzly and moose , never hunted any of those big game but just what iv heard and know about the caliber Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  12. I'm a auto body mechanic at my fathers shop he's owned for 17 years or better and it happens all year long at alarming rates , bewtween October and March we literally had at least one person call or show up a day that had hit a deer, the insurance company's took a hurting this year for sure , 2 Turkeys this week , few raccoons, a Fox, you'd be surprised the damage these critters do to a vehicle, Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk

  21. I'm not in any way saying shooting Jake's is bad or sayin I don't shoot to harvest meat, I'm all against antler restrictions, I don't think it's right to be the judge of what some one wants to shoot or should shoot or what's the best to shoot, I just choose to practice not shooting Jake's or smaller bucks out of personal preference, not because it's the best way, or the way it should be, I'd rather see more kids and people getting into the sport , not deter them from it by restricting them on what they can harvest, Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  22. It's not always possible but in the woods, or on short grass or plowed field , preety much any where there isn't higher vegetation than his spurs I don't have a problem seeing spurs, maybe I'm missing what your getting at but personally I can tell preety close how big a birds spurs are ..again if I can see them, usually I put in the home work and scout big mature birds from a distance with good binos, or have incounters in the field and become obsessed with him, I can pattern him like a deer , hunting him every single day , till I can figure out just what he does every morning, and our smart him Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  23. Hard to say but I'd guess he was gobbling to hens close to him or with him, and if those hens heard you they will take him away so he doesn't go to you (another hen), usually if Ya can hear those hens , I copy every word they say a little loauder and I cut them off, make it sound like your a hen that's taking over and she will come to fight and bring her boy friend , but If I can't hear those hens and he's not really responding directly to my calls I assume he cant hear me or plain not intrested and happy with the hens he's got , get up and move with out being seen obviously , get closer , maybe guess where hes going and cut them off , Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  24. Coulda been just one of them days kid, one day they'll trip over each other tryin to get to you, the next they won't bat an eye at decoys calls etc, it's a trial and error thing , gotta find what works and what works for that day, save up Ya can get 2 hens and a Jake decoy for 25$ at gander or herbs or where ever, there foam , don't let the foam thing detour you, those foam decoys have killed just as many birds as them pricy fancy ones, keep at it and Ya can teach your self alot in the turkey woods , Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  25. TurkeyhuntPa_ny, I lease land just out side of town , they were talkative on the roost, but all of em but one shut up when they hit the ground, when we got back to the truck there was still one bird goin nuts gobblin every 30 seconds , Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
