  1. Same here. My stuff is sprouting great. But there's a lot of water on most of it. And any part of if that I try walking on I sink mid high on my rubber boots. Trying to stay off it so I don't ruin what's growing lol
  2. Someone definitely has to do something. I remember when everyone thought the 90s kids were bad when video game consoles were getting big and popular. It's 100 times worse now with iPads and all that stuff. We have two iPad minis for my 2 and 4 year old that have some educational games on there and nick jr tv shows. But we've already had to take them away because we saw how addicted they both got to them and the melt downs that ensued when we took them away to get them to focus on another task. We took them away almost 3 months ago now and it's amazing how different they are without them.
  3. I'm pretty much drowning over here. I'm not sure how good my clover and chicory plots are going to turn out with all this rain. Tons of standing water all over the place. We can be done with the rain any time now
  4. Don't smoke but chew every time I'm in the stand. Have had deer lick and smell my chew spit on the ground many times. Spit on my ladder stand rungs and had a button buck lick it off once lol. I've never seen deer have any negative reaction to smelling my chew. On any land I've been on.
  5. Well I'm pretty pissed at myself. I called two gobblers in from 250 yards away across the damn road. First time I've been able to get them to cross like that. They cross 2 small fields then hang up on the far edge of the one I'm sitting on, about 100-125 yards away. They gobbled their heads off at every sound I made. Strutting all over the place and looked like they were going to commit. They worked their way behind a bunch of brush in the tree line that separates the fields and I needed to move around the tree I was leaning against from the backside. I tried to slowly slip around to the front of the tree and I look up and there they go running across the other field. Enter a few cuss words. I called for about 20 mins more and nothin. Decided to back out and get some food and go to bed for the day. Try again tomorrow. On my walk out I lost one of my strikers, not happy about that either. But I did spook up a partridge and she was sitting on 11 eggs! Can't load a pic because something is messed up with Tapatalk on my phone. But it was cool to see
  6. Didn't know the property line situation. But ya your best bet is to wait then out if you can't go any farther. Good luck! I'm leaving work now and will go sit in my blind for a little while and see what's wandering around.
  7. If all else fails. Go bust them up. Scatter them the best you can. See where most took off to and head that way about 150 yards. Setup and call gently. No hard cuts. Should pull them back to ya if your lucky.
  8. http://www.outdoorlife.com/camping-world-buys-out-gander-mountain?src=SOC&dom=fb Well it looks like gander is pretty much done for. Sounds like campers world is going to keep some stores open but change up inventory. If anyone's got gift cards or points to burn up ya better do it now if your looking to use it on guns or hunting stuff
  9. Didn't make it out today. Had a union contract vote/meeting at 10am. But damn was that fun. Watched 34 guys tear apart our terrible union guy. Voted down the new contract and now headed back to negotiations or we strike. I kinda hope we strike so me and the 3 other millers can go company and make a butt load more money. But anyways....gonna get out tomorrow and see what's gobbling!
  10. Damn!! That's a long ways in for turkey! That's cool though!
  11. Home and out in the blind. Was still pouring rain when I got home so I waited about 20 mins before heading out. Rain has pretty much stopped now. Sun is even poking out a bit. Gonna let everything stop dripping so much then hit the calls. Good luck everyone
  12. Usually they are pretty quiet following a good soaker storm. Will most likely head towards fields to stretch out to dry off at first, especially if the sun starts to come out again.
  13. If I was home Sunday morning I'd have a nice red fox down myself. We lost 7 chickens to that fox. Wife was just waking up and was in the bathroom when she saw something go flying by the window, went outside with the dog and the fox was standing there with 4 dead chickens in the yard, one in its mouth, 1 dead in the neighbors yard and one in the middle of the road. Lost almost half my flock right there. But don't worry...wife already replaced them with 12 new chicks before I got home! Lost our other ones around 7 and she had new ones here by 1.
  14. Yep the youngest is 2, will be 3 next month. My other is 4. I didn't take them out at first light since they were sleeping but my wife got them dressed up and ready to go for me to come back and get them. You shoulda seen me carrying both of them, plus my shotgun the last 100 yards or so to the blind because of the deep mud haha. They had a good time even if we didn't get to shoot the turkey. I can only hope they want to keep going with me for as long as I live! I really wish the age limit for hunting wasn't so high in this state....
  15. Well...I'd have a big beauty of tom dead right now to show you guys...but my boys couldn't quite hold it together long enough. [emoji849] Just as they are getting bored and wanted to go home. I hit the call one more time and a bird gobbles less than 100 yards behind us. My 2 year old starts flipping out that he wants to go home and I couldn't get him to quiet down enough in time. Bird came in and got spooked by all the commotion coming from the blind. What a bummer! O well, I'll come out tomorrow morning after work by myself and see if I can get it done.
  16. Headed back to the house to grab my boys. Will see how long they can be semi quiet out here in the blind. Birds are still gobbling across the road and sound like they are moving a little closer. Hope they come by after I get back!
  17. My ultra reliable Benelli Super Nova. Nothing done to it other than a extended range Pattern Master choke. Well over 20 thousand rounds through the barrel and has never given me a problem. It even spent a night in a pond in Kansas once. Barrel has gotten a little pitted and ugly from the abuse so I think I'll be getting a new barrel for it at some point. But I have no doubts my boys will be fighting over this gun someday for it's a awesome gun to shoot
  18. Out in a blind behind my house. A bit chilly and even a few big wind gusts here and there. Heard 2 birds gobbling a few mins ago about 300 yards away across the road. Not sure if they will cross and come this way. With the crappy weather I think I'll just sit here and stay quiet and see what comes along. Maybe a few yelps in a little while. Almost didn't make it this morning lol. I went fishing at my buddies camp all weekend and I was straight up worn out when I got home last night. When that alarm clock went off at 4am this morning, I strongly considered sleeping in haha.
  19. Wunderground shows it's gonna be dry in my area Monday morning through midday. Looks like possible afternoon thunder storms. But since we will be done at noon, not a problem!
  20. This is awesome! It's got me anxious for my boys to get a few years older so they can be out there with me and using calls on their own. I'm ready for them to take over like I took over calling from my dad all those years ago. 17 years, damn its gone by so fast....
  21. This thread has the familiar foul odor that uptown usually leaves lingering in every thread he participated in.....
  22. Not exactly...it's tow ratings are a few hundred pounds less than a F150 and the max payload is 1300 pounds less. Nissan shot for a truck between a half ton and 3/4 ton and missed the mark on that one
  23. Can't argue that the foreign Asian brands tend to be pretty good on reliability. They just don't make any trucks with just the right stuff going for them. I'd own a foreign brand if they had a half ton that could beat my F150 in every category. Safety being number 1. The foreign brands don't even offer 2500 class and up so they aren't even a factor if you need something like that, which a lot of people do. I've always said and believed that the foreign company's make better "small trucks". Example, Toyota Tacoma vs a Ford Ranger....the Yota is a far superior truck in that size range. But a F150 and even a Ram 1500 come out on top compared to the Toyota Tundra. Foreign truck drivers can applauded their reliability all they want, until the day they buy a boat to big or a trailer to heavy and realize that Rice burner can't rise to the task.
