  1. Nice knife! A high quality knife is something everyone should have at least one of. I've got two custom made knives my old man got me as a gift when I started guiding. They cost a bundle but cut amazing and I wouldn't trade them for the world.
  2. I'm no lawyer or anything but I did read in multiple articles that trump has the authority to launch such strikes and it wasn't a legal issue. Whether or not we should be involved in doing it is another story. I'd rather we not get involved in most issues around the world, but if we already have ships so close by, we might as well lob a few bombs over at them. It's not like any US lives were at risk by us launching some missles. I'd much rather bomb our enemies to smithereens than put soldiers at risk if we don't have to. Another plus, it's good training and target practice for our navy boys. Haha. I'm all for keeping them sharp and on top of their game!
  3. That's cool! I haven't seen one while hunting but I did see one in a field once in Illinois. My buddy shot a piebald spike horn years ago in Columbia county. It's mounted on his wall, it's a neat looking deer
  4. There are so many awesome ones. Couldn't ever narrow it down. But here's one I haven't seen mentioned yet. Anyone know it?
  5. Russians shouldn't of been there by the time of the attack. Article I read said they were warned many hours in advance of the attack and were told to leave. Other nations were also notified about the launch ahead of time according to Fox. With such a big heads up, I kinda wonder if there was anyone there at all when the bombs hit. I'm sure if the Russians were told to leave, they told the people at the base what was coming. Seems kinda dumb though, if the enemy knows what's coming, they can prepare or escape and even move the chemical weapons we set out to destroy.
  6. I hope they are right. We need it in our area to dry things out a bit. Your right up the road so I'm sure your just as soaked as we are.
  7. When I grew up on the sacandaga lake I rode my sled every single day. I rode it to school, work and to friends houses. It was my transportation for the winter months for years before I could drive. If you know the trail systems, you can go a long dang ways on a sled in that area. I rode my sled from Northville to Ft. Plain and even Saratoga on multiple occasions to catch my girlfriends basketball games. Me and some buddies would always take a few days and venture up north past speculator and just keep riding till we felt like turning back. If you didn't ride sleds up there it's pretty unusual. But where I live now, it's not nearly as popular. We have some trails here, but nothing like back home.
  8. O I know it. I ride my buddies sleds now and then and they are all crazy fast these days. Unfortunately that's what's getting a lot of people killed these days....not many know how to properly ride them and get hurt in the process.
  9. I hear ya! I like seeing her pics. Beautiful gal that's for sure!
  10. She's on FB too. I don't have instagram. No idea what it even is. FB is all I do. I draw the line on social media there lol.
  11. I haven't had a sled in a few years now but I always had Cats. Old man grew up on cats and raced them for years in the 70s-80s. My old 2002 ZR600 was my favorite sled though. That thing took a beating that should have totally destroyed it. My old man bought it used from a guy he worked with. Had 900 miles on it when I got it. We tore the entire thing apart when I got it and rebuilt it with new bearings across the entire thing and rebuilt the motor with weisco pistons just for the hell of it. I ran that sled for 5 years on almost a daily basis once we had snow. I put over 10k miles on that thing!! Never broke anything except the suspension, which I pounded into oblivion. I was young and a motocross racer, and this is when stuff like sled necks was getting big. I jumped that sled off everything I could find. Other than some suspension rebuilds and reinforcement, it never skipped a beat. Fastest 600 I ever rode for that time frame. Used to smoke everything but F7s and 1000cc sleds on drag strips on the lake. It was quick off the line and could hold off ski doo 800s just long enough to finish the drag strip. My buddies with Polaris sleds usually never made it to the drag strip, they broke down before getting there! [emoji13]
  12. A buddy of mine has the new Honda pioneer 1000. He supposedly likes it so far. Honda builds nice machines that are usually very reliable. Have you looked at the new Kawasaki mules? They are quite a bit different than the older style mules and are supposedly pretty dang awesome I hear. If I was in the market for a new UTV I think i would be test driving a mule for the heck of it
  13. I'll be out there with j-Mark and his son. Flock behind the house is looking good with quite a few big gobblers to choose from. Been seeing a decent amount of them around the area too. Should be prime time for youth season! This is j-marks sons first time hunting so it should be a awesome time regardless!
  14. I got a thing in the mail to register for jury duty in Greene county. I live in Albany county lol. My address is the town of Greenville, which most of it is in Greene county but a small portion just barely makes it into Albany. I answered the questions but marked that I was not a Greene county resident. Online thing says I will probably have to provide proof of not living in Greene. This should be tons of fun!! I've never been on jury duty and have absolutely no intention on ever doing so. I'm not going to lose out on money from working to sit on a jury. What's jury pay like $40 a day?? Employers aren't required to pay full wages and I know my cheap ass company wouldn't pay me a nickel if I wasn't here. Needless to say, I'll make myself out to be the biggest jerk, redneck, racist asshole pile of shit imaginable just to get out of it haha.
  15. I like my ladders for ease of use and safety....bbuuuutttttt....I end up using hang ons far more often. Once you get used to using hang ons, they are very easy to use in any tree almost. I can't get myself to use a tiny platform hang on though. Idk how some guys do it. I don't like feeling like I'm gonna take a small step and fall off. I buy big platform hang ons and just deal with the fact that they may be a bit heavier. I like being comfortable no matter what stand I'm in.
  16. I'm getting to this thread a little late and didn't even get to read it all yet. But when I saw you were thinking of using the ground hog max on a brute force 750 I had to reply just on that alone. DO NOT DO IT!!! Unless you want a bent up frame, don't even think about putting a ground hog max on your brute force. I know from first hand experience. I tried 3 different hitch receiver set ups and the Max either bent the living hell out of the hitch, or it created too much pressure on the frame and bent the frame tubes in. I will have to take a pic when I get home from work in the morning of my pinched in frame tubes from doing this. It didn't take long to happen either. A couple hours and a few decent sized rocks is all it took. Your better off with a pull behind atv disc, regardless of how much weight you need to stack on top of it. The brute force has gobs of power and will pull more than most atvs out there so use that to your advantage!
  17. Watching the weather closely and I think we will still have a decent amount of freeze thaw cycles left. I'm just waiting on the snow to melt down before I spread any seed. I'd really like for it to be just about all gone or at least less than 2 inches. Hoping maybe this weekend might be good enough to sling some clover and chicory around
  18. I laughed my ass off when I read this. Maybe cause it hit home a little bit lol. My name is John, and my parents spent several hundred grand during our racing years. I got old and beat up and never went pro, but the years we spent doing it and the memories were priceless. But I agree, $300 on a lifetime license is absolutely nothing in the long run. I've spent more than that on toy trucks that my two boys have subsequently destroyed in no time flat. Hell I'm pretty sure I destroyed at least $100 worth of toys during the snow storm with the snow blower! I plan on buying my one son his lifetime this year before he turns 5 and I'll get my other son his next year when he's 4 also. I wish my parents had bought me my lifetime license. For the amount of money they spent on everything else, that would of been one of the cheapest things they would have ever bought me.
  19. That tenzing one looks sweet. But damn is that a steep price. Let us know how you like it...I may have to give it more thought!
  20. What didn't you like? Too many? There's 2 different "tactical" models. I was looking at the cheaper one. I thought the fold down pouch with the double pot call holder was nice. I like using 2 different pot calls so it looked like the best option for that. I run and gun a lot and hate carrying stuff in my pockets. Slows me down and makes running awkward plus limits mobility. I'd rather have more pockets on a vest with everything stored in there so my legs are free to move quickly when needed
  21. Thanks for all the advice guys. To be clear, I don't need side work to pay for a machine. I could buy one, and watch it rot in the back yard without using it once if that's what I really wanted. I only entertained the idea of side work to make a few extra bucks because who doesn't like having some extra throw around money. And if I got to earn that money messing around on my beloved machine, why not right? My wife is the stickler around here and needs convincing on anything we do. The idea of my toy possibly paying for a weekend shopping trip with her mother was simply a way to make it easier for me to get away with buying one lol. Either way she'll go shopping, but you know how women are.... I'm absolutely buying a tractor. May not be this year like I wanted...but the new garage will be cool. If I never make a penny with it I'll be just as content. I've got plenty to do around here with more coming in the future. This isn't the last piece of property I plan on owning by the way. Not only do I have my own plans to buy a couple hundred acres for hunting, but my father in law is rapidly buying up houses and other properties all over the place as rentals. Wife's an only child, these properties are all going to end up being hers someday so we will have the needs for machinery in a thousand different ways. Thanks all for the particular HP recommendations. I'm thinking my first one is gonna be in the 35-40hp range. This will suffice what I need done around this house and land. Once we buy a camp I'll most likely have to step it up to a bigger machine at that point. But I will upgrade as needed. In the mean time I'll be renting a machine to do the septic and the most important drain fields for this year. Just enough to get by for now. Next year it's game on with my own machine!
  22. I like the look of the cabelas brand turkey vests. I'm thinking of picking one up
  23. Haha. It was almost Red....but then the wife came to me with a compromise. She says let's build a new garage this year and work on getting a tractor I want next year. I've been dying for a new garage so I was happy with that. Compiling quotes now for the garage, first one was extremely high so I'm hoping the next few will be more realistic. I do have a Ford 8n I can use for my food plots and such. It's my neighbors and I used it last year but I hate using other people's stuff which made me want to get my own. Plus my buddy and his dad are buying some hunting land soon so I'll need something to get their place set up. I'm deff looking for more HP when the time comes, will be looking for a used 30-40hp
  24. I don't foresee china doing much of anything other than maybe making a press statement condemning any acts of NK. The only time china is gonna step in is if we invaded. They would probably at that time invade as well from the north. And we'd end up with another Berlin situation like we did with Russia in WWII. China wouldn't like us controlling territory so close to them, they would feel compelled to make sure they had a strong presence in NK. I don't see nukes being used unless they launched one first...then that pretty much makes it fair game. I highly doubt NK's missiles would even reach our west coast with all the defenses we have in place, but if they went as far as to launch one at anyone, you know they aren't gonna stop and will need to be blown off the map quickly.
  25. At some point we are gonna have to bomb them into submission....or invade and just take over. I don't see it going many other ways. NK obviously isn't going to back down so we will be forced into some sort of action.
