  1. No issue here with it. I'm all for a clean environment and cutting back emissions as fast as we sensibly and reasonably can. But to fund the entire world to do what we do is just absurd. I can't stand these news people filling the simple minds of your average moron with the idea that we are going to all of a sudden become the biggest polluting country because of this. We are rapidly reducing our pollution every year. Would it be great if the entire world followed suit? Of course, but we can't be expected to pay for it. That's just way too much money to be essentially throwing away because you know damn well a huge portions of it will end up in someone's pocket in a corrupt foreign country. I'd rather see that money pumped into our companies to create the advanced technology required to keep the future generations clean. And then maybe share/sell such technology with other countries at cost. I'd rather us sell some machinery and stuff at no profit than just hand over billions in cash and hope they do the right thing.
  2. Good points. But come on Uncle Sam...just blow ONE rocket of theirs out of the sky! Pretty please! Lol
  3. I wondered the same thing. I figured it would be a pretty humiliating blow to N. Korea if we blasted their junk rockets out of the sky every week.
  4. I'm rooting for the cabelas-bass pro deal to fall through honestly. These type of mergers, takeovers, buyouts, whatever way they end up being, usually don't end up being a good thing for consumers in my opinion. Especially when cabelas is such a good brand as is, I think they are more likely to screw it all up. I've bought a lot of cabelas brand clothing and gear over the years and they really make good stuff. Better than any other retail store brand I've ever seen. Bass pros "red head" line sucks. Don't need those bad genes wadding around in the cabelas pool. Over the years the cabelas brand stuff has only gotten better in my opinion, I'd rather see that continue than possible be screwed up forever.
  5. Struggling with the same thing. I'm the same and not looking for a golf course cut, but the dang thing is digging in on the right a bit. I dropped the back idler wheel on the deck down one notch and it's about half as bad as it was before. Going to drop it down to the next notch and see if that makes it good enough.
  6. Only gun I ever flinched on or had to second guess wanting to shoot was my dads old mossberg 500 with 3 or 3 1/2 inch slugs. That thing was just down right brutal. Only gun that ever gave me scope eye too. First time I shot it I was 7. Didn't shoot it again until I was 10! Haha. That thing pounded the hell out of your shoulder. Back before our camp went to rifle, everyone would go to camp one weekend in September or real early October to sight in the slug guns. Everyone took turns on each other's guns on sighting them in because no one wanted to shoot the dang things more than twice in a row before taking a break haha. Helped spread the pain out a bit lol! I've shot 50 cal rifles and they had some thump but not nearly as painful as those old slug guns. Never shot any safari caliber guns but I'd like to at some point.
  7. Speaking of eye color. Our first chocolate lab we had, had these awesome eyes. Blue green mix. They were like that for a little over a year. Sadly we lost him to a total freak accident. He got into the garbage can and got a Tostitos chip bag stuck around his head and suffocated himself. Worst part was it was my sisters dog and he was home with my mom in NC while me sis and dad were up here in NY at one of my big motocross races. My sister cried for days. The dogs name was Dunlop, after the tire company that I used for race tires. So that night me and my drunk buddies went out onto the track and stole a Dunlop tire banner that was 25ft long for her to hang up at home in his memory. Man I miss that dog [emoji20]
  8. Cool to see there's plenty of other bird keepers on here! We have been raising chickens for almost 4 years now. Been a lot of fun and the eggs sure are delicious. We recently lost half the flock to a fox so my wife picked up 12 baby chicks from a friend of hers that breeds all sorts of fowl. We also have one of our original hens that's gone broody and has so far hatched 2 eggs but only 1 has made it so far. She's got 2 more underneath her that look like they will hatch any day now. On top of those we decided to give guinea hens a try and picked up 6 of them. Not sure how it's gonna go since I've heard plenty of bad things about them but figured what the hell we might as well try and find out for ourselves. Next on my list is turkeys, and then maybe some quail or pheasant if I get ambitious enough and build another pen for them.
  9. Congrats! We had 2 chocolates over the years when I lived with my parents and they were both such great dogs. Neither were trained for hunting just regular ol house dogs but they were so gentle and obedient. My black lab was a bit more energetic but more stubborn than our chocolates. Labs are the best family dogs in my opinion. Hope you have many great memories together!
  10. Tell that to a old regular customer at the truck company my dad used to work for. The guy lost his entire left arm!!! Older guy, lives someplace in southern NY outside the city. Came in on a Friday to get parts as usual and was healthy. Didn't come back for over a month which was unusual for this guy, but he was missing his left arm! Told my dad he did yard work the Saturday after he saw him last and was in the hospital Sunday evening with pain and other symptoms and ended up losing his arm because of a brown recluse bite. I've seen them here in NY. Tons of them in Kansas. I have researched them well enough to know what they look like. I hate spiders and am afraid as hell of getting bit by nasty ones so I keep a pretty close eye on them. But to say they don't exist here is untrue. Might not be a lot of them but there are some and people should be vigilant about it.

  12. Prepare for more spraying. Everything you turned up now will be a weed garden in a month or two. I hit new plots hard as hell with gly at least 2-3 times a summer to knock the weeds and native grasses back. Last year wasn't so bad because of the drought so my plots were nice and clear after a second spraying. But with a year with a lot of rain like we've had so far, everything is gonna grow like crazy. But welcome to the world of food plotting. It's an addictive hobby but it's all worth it come hunting season and you are sitting over a beautiful food plot that you grew.
  13. I kinda doubt we will ever see any discounts steep enough to make it worth driving more than 2 mins out of your way. Sucks because I really wanted to pick up a few treestands at some good prices but they aren't even close at just 10% off.
  14. Didn't get out this morning. Had some chores around the house I needed to do before getting some sleep. But I did hear a bunch of gobbles down in the valley while I was out in the yard. So they are still pretty fired up it sounds like. Hopefully make it out one more time this weekend before calling it quits for the season. Already got one bird, and that's good enough for me. Work on the tail fan mount of the bird I shot the other week is coming along pretty good. I have an idea for a homemade hardwood log cut off that I want to use to mount it with. Can't wait for it to dry and get it all together
  15. No hunting for me today. Changed oil on the quad and got that loaded up. Headed out at 230 for a ride with some buddies. Can already taste the cold beer and venison burgers at our spot on the pond!
  16. If you have trespasser problems or feel like you possibly could have some, put that cheap camera up in the area you'd expect them to come from. I use a old Moultrie camera that no longer works as a trespasser deterrent. While it may not work and take pics, just the sight of a camera will spook any trespasser. Even if they grabbed it and ran off I wouldn't be too upset since it doesn't function. I set mine up near the road on the driveway going into the property with a no trespassing sign hanging next to it. At least it will give everyone the hint that your running cameras. I've also made it clear to neighbors that I have many cameras all over and "see all" haha. It works great, guy next door said another guy down the road used to walk the land during gun season and would ride his atv back there once and awhile but now that I am in there and running cameras he won't step foot in there as he doesn't want to get caught on my cameras.
  17. Ahh gotcha. Well if you didn't wanna wait for them, give my FIL's shop a call. They should be able to get you in sooner than the other place. They do a lot of brakes lines so I know they are good at it lol.
  18. Congrats bill. Glad to hear your slump is over.
  19. Yes it did. Looks exactly like it. I think they make even bigger ones for even better reception that you could upgrade to if you so choose to.
  20. I wish I had mounted my old ones in a easier spot, if I did, I'd still have it lol. I had mine up on the roof on a bathroom ceiling vent pipe. Worked great for reception purposes but the way my roof was on my old house, it was a scary experience getting to that spot. When I put it up there I said to my wife that it was never coming down because I wasn't going back for it lol. At least you were smarter than me and put it in a easy to get to spot!
  21. Cool video! I really need to get my wife to take her hunters ed course and break my cameras out and start filming more.
  22. Which shop rob? My father in law owns C.A. Albright and Sons on 9W just south of Ravena. From your place it can't be more than 10 mins away. He's got a pretty big shop, and a tow truck.
  23. Well I kinda sorta planned on getting out quick before the rain after work. But my buddy came in to relieve me and he's sick as hell so I told him to go the hell home. So I'm here for another 6 hours or so. Hoping he feels better since we planned on going out tomorrow morning behind my house to try and double up on some birds. Good luck to all and stay dry!
  24. Which ones were they. I know the sons of guns guy got busted for rape or some crap like that. Not sure who the 2nd show is though.
