Leasing land for the year gives people a taste at ownership-how often was it used? How was the "commute"? Good neighbors/area for other things beyond hunting? Maybe they run hunting dogs too? Maybe they like Turkey hunting? Maybe they are strictly bow hunters-400 acres "plays bigger" then. Maybe $8000 is "chump change" for them? Maybe they are sick if public land hunting- well documented challenges. Maybe he could get $10,000 for it and is offering a deal to some lucky hunters? How does this change hunting in the future? Could people now just hunt land not owned by them without compensation or permission from the owner? Are people suggesting that land owners shouldn't make money off their land if they can? We leased years and years ago- our biggest issue was the exclusivity "promised" by the owner-it was fun for a few years Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Final product (with some broccoli rabe and lemon chicken left over from last night when grandma "cooked") A little bitterness came through- not from the broccoli rabe. Seems like it comes from the cherry tomatoes Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

For those of us currently in the college tuition game, I hear it's more like buying a new car these days. No one pays the sticker price unless they are desperate for that school and have the means. Example: big money guy really wants his kid to go as a legacy to his university...kid is borderline but parents guarantees full tuition, they have a good shot. I've also heard stories of families not able to make the payment without refinancing house or other extreme measures and negotiating a new deal with schools....I owe you $65,000 and will pay that back over a long period of time on a plan or I can give you $25,000 now to call it even. They take the $25,000 now since they know some are paying the full freight and their product really only costs them $25,000 anyway. This is all theoretical and anecdotal- I have no idea if this is how this works....but I'll be trying it soon as we will have 3 in from 2022-2027. Similar to settling bankruptcy or bad credit situations. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hunting Westchester with a gun
crappyice replied to Ryan3m's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I was asked to hunt some coyote for a resident in rockland county whose family dog was killed years ago. The property was on the top of a mountain but clearly in a residential area. I had plenty of room to fire a shotgun according to the setback laws of the state but I called all the local authorities I could Before hunting there. I got answers like, "I don't know but it doesn't sound like a good idea." "No there is a town ordinance. Me-can I see it? I can't find it but it exists" "Yes you can but be prepared to have police show up since neighbors will call 911" I ended up wasting some time sitting out there with my bow to no success. -
So if you are seeing bucks now, does that mean they leave to their "rutting" grounds later? In other words less sightings now are a good thing for your hunting? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You need to check with the town. Often many have a town ordinance against discharging firearms...some go as far as to say no projectiles. Regardless of legality, you can expect a visit from local PD even if it is legal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I maybe only deer hunted once during a conference day zoom. When we went full remote during the spring of 2020, I may have Turkey hunted "during class". I may have been Unsuccessful during both outings. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Absolutely- I teach MS and out district was full day in school straight through Covid behind masks and plastic shields and I still see the developmental lag - the social aspect more so than the academic piece since the academic piece can't be developed until the social piece catches up.
