  1. I’d like to also offer the Beechmont in New Rochelle or Piper’s Kilt (hard to beat their burgers too) in Eastchester as Westchester wing options Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Took a beaten today for nothing- too windy for deer to be moving Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I don’t love the slow cooker for much else besides soup. Any piece of meat has a “grey flavor” from a slow cooker in my opinion. The Mrs will tend the pot from last night to my arrival home. I’m sure she will be waiting with my drink properly prepared, a warm bath will be drawn and a massage after she had the three kids all day!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I’m back at Muscoot(3s) in an area I saw two doe driving to my spot last night. Wind direction is favorable but quite stiff- not so optimistic about movement for this even Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Holy Helmut that looks amazing! Venison chili bubbling away for when I get back from my evening sit- not sure if I’m crazy, desperate or just love this $hit!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Kicking around the notion of an evening hunt again. Can’t get myself psyched up for an am sit with the wind and temps. Still not sure I love the wind for this afternoon. My largest obstacle with this program has been the mandatory use of a climber(no walking around and elevated into the wind!). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. That’s what worries me too but I also don’t know if I was just forcing it too hard. On the second pass with the smaller plate, no issues. Really up in the air about what to do. Dropping $400 on a grinder doesn’t make much sense to me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I’m in Westchester and will be taking bit of a beating - $18,000 prop tax. Accountant called and told me to pre-pay my 2018 taxes. Sure- let me just pull $18,000 out of my a$$. Just not happening as a family of five in a 1 income household (unless you care to count my wife’s pay from the church which is paltry for the work/time she gives). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Holy $hit...that is the most horrible buzz kill I have ever read Any-who...I’m hunting the pm in 3S (still need to harvest a doe to stay in my management program) then it’s a night of deep fried food, Honeymooners marathon and Minute to Win It challenges with the kids. New Year Day is Chinese food with Mom, Sister and family and an aunt of mine. Reminds us of A Christmas Story Christmas dinner after the dogs crush the turkey!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Cleaned up a bunch of shanks from a teacher friend of mine. Planning on making a monster pot of osso bucco (14# of meat) from 5 deer’s shanks. May as well try to make some venison stock from the roasted bones. Should be a nice bump to the venison shepherds pie. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Ha...see the whiskey thread for the first line of dethawing defense! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Round 2: It made it through 2 1/2 lbs of venison and pork fat but with issues that I hopefully can show in this video. Skip to 45 seconds until you enjoy watching meat being ground. Final result but the restraining nut thing popped off at least 4 times Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Venison Barley Soup should defrost me after tonight’s sit! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Saw two doe tonight. Came in from the pines behind me. Stayed away and walked right past the tree I sat in a few days ago. I zig..,they zag Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Since the Mrs was too busy today, the grinder is still here. I may need to give it another dance tonight Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Trying this tonight. VERY Smokey (peat like smoke). Can’t believe how light the color is Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I’m back in 3s. A balmy 21 with a stiffer breeze than I’d like ( especially since I forgot my hat!!!). Hope it’s a quick one tonight- maybe I’ll tape my hot hands to my temple under my camp mask!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I used the cutter and largest plate with the new unit I am sending back and it blew th retaining ring off. Not sure my kitchen aid had a cutting blade Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. When I used the kitchen aid everything just squeezed out the sides and jammed the holes-I swear you guys are messing with me who have had success !!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. So on the first pass of partially frozen meat do you just use the cutting blade ( looks like a cross ) WITHOUT the grind plate? I put the largest hole plate after the cutter and everything clogged almost instantly (it forced the retaining screw on thingy(technical term!) off) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I must be doing something wrong Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Put the request in for venison barley soup for tonight for when I get out of the woods! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I have an older kitchenaid (less power I assume than modern versions) and had the sausage maker/grinder. The parts were all plastic (except the dyes(sp?)) and never worked for me. Ended up going old fashioned on 2lbs last night. Works great but the 2lbs took about 20 minutes to prep the partially frozen meat small enough to fit and run through three times. I have about 30 lbs to do from my deer and my buddy’s so that ain’t all happening by hand!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Rolled the dice on this POS (under $100) and LOST!!! Put together and threw some partially frozen pork fat in to grind for some venison burgers. Gummed up immediately and pushed off the main ring that holds the unit together. On its way back today. Clearly finding a cheap grinder is not the right way to go....anyone have a suggestion for a grinder out there around the $300 price point? Lookin on Amazon to use up some gift cards but I don’t trust any reviews from those sites - especially since the unit I am returning was rated great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
