Beauty. Now don't take this the wrong way but I don't know how big he really is: I say that with VERY LITTLE EXPERIENCE except for a bear hunt in Maine this summer. Everyone who shot a bear said, " I thought it was so much bigger" after recovering the it bear. My buddy "shot a monster" and when the guide found it he estimated it to be 150lbs. Real weight=105lbs! So even a guide of 20+ years overestimated by 1/3rd. Apparently they shrink faster than George Constanza at a Hampton pool party!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just logged my 30th hour on stand for the westchester management program (not counting any travel, hiking or climbing the tree - nine of that counts for this program). Probably another 10 hours at a different track of private land. Saw three total deer, none of which while I was in my tree. I keep expecting the area to erupt with rutting behavior which Is why I haven't changed things up - definition of insanity=doing the same thing and expecting different results!!! Buck bomb brought no change to my hunting experience this season. Not a damn thing. I did learn that my friend, PITA the squirrel, averages a 49.7 second wait in his nest before venturing out to find more eats. That's how bad it has been- I have begun tracking squirrel movement. Working today but decided to actually walk the dog this morning as opposed to him just hitting his morning routine in the yard. Walked along a nature study woods in New Rochelle and kicked a massive doe...5 minutes later-2 more. That is 3x the amount of deer I have seen all season when on stand(30+ hours of sit time-not counting travel and scouting and walking and set up). Man am I bitter!!! I am definitely in the wrong part of 3s . 2 properties I hunt have shown zero sign, let alone deer. It really seems like the deer packed up and moved. No scrapes, no rubs, not even $hit piles in an area that has been productive in the past- 4 deer last year from 2 of us. Only sign is a bunch of coyotes and so I wonder if they are the cause for the vacant land.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Cul...how do I get accurate horizontal distance if when from the cliff edge I see nothing but treetops 100 yards away. I hit no structure with a range finder...it goes right over the top! I know what you mean but in this case it doesn't hold true. By the way, I would never shoot in the direction of the structure (unless hunting bully goats or Spider-Man in westchester). 3s my buddy had a mama and fawns in tow. She hasn't ditched them yet so we are still waiting for things to get going here. Also had a spike just milling about with no interest in her. Thanks...however that response is crazy to me since it's a rule/law. Shouldn't it be a standard black and white ruling? No slam on you buckmaster-I agree with your advice and ambiguity. My frustration lies in the fact that I want to play by the book but the book is then interpreted by officers who have different OPINIONS (which should be irrelevant when enforcing a law). In a different case I could not get an officer's "blessing" to discharge a firearm in a certain area(not 3s). He said something to the effect of "I don't see anything in the books that says you can't fire a shotgun...but I bet if you do you will be visited by law enforcement." That's not a comforting answer since I don't want to/shouldn't have to defend my actions if I have done nothing wrong according to the books. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Do vertical feet count??? So I have access to a 3s property that has a narrow strip of woods which is located on a plateau (for lack of a better word). Where I would set up is right on a cliff edge and straight below is a residence/auto garage. I ranged the roof of the structure below-65 yards=195'....all good right? By the way I doubt I will actually hunt this due to other factors but just curious of the legalities. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
