    Girls are a true gift to fathers...I can't express the feeling I had when I saw my baby girl(first child) she absolutely blew me up! By the way, she's the first to grab the worms and catch the fireflies- her little brothers(who are bigger but younger than her) do it too because they are sick of her outdoing them! Congrats...it only gets better!

    From what people talk about regarding how much of a PITA it is to drag a bear, can you imagine how badass that guy is to carry one over his shoulder. Nicely done.

    As much as I hate to admit it, I am a Costco fan-my twin 9 year old boys are killing me. 4 gallons of milk a week - 71/2 dozen eggs every two weeks...for those two purchases alone it is worth it for me

    So I am about to bust into my 10 year old daughter's room today since she is BLASTING her radio. I hear the repetitive lyric, "it's all about the bass(pronounced base)" and I immediately think of thick based antlers- I agree with the song and allow her to rock on....I'm beyond excited. Re-washed the clothes and hit them with Sawyers permethian today...I think in done...let the frustration begin!

    Hector-thanks for some guarded optimism. I was most afraid of your first scenario-showing up to a plowed field with no reason for deer to stick around. I really need to get this guy to call me back or at least get some help from the land owner who I have the lease with.

    I never understood how the "lottery" actually worked. If I apply and get denied from a low probability unit, does that mean the unit is closed? Or is it possible for someone else to apply at a later date and get it? How do you conduct a lottery without all participants enrolled at the same time?

    Typically when are they harvested? What is left after the harvest(are the entire plants removed or are they cut to a specific height?) Right now they are about three feet tall and starting to turn a bit brown on our leased land. Can't get in touch with the farmer so hoping someone can offer some general guidelines.

    Hind of deer, kind of kicking its back legs up. Looks to me like that white blotch is the tail and it head is hidden by front legs(kind of quartering away. Or a mountain lion!

    Readjusted some stands yesterday on the property we leased. And now the season if second-guessing our last moves begins. I had a ground blind set up of a field of soy for the last three weeks- yesterday we decided we didn't like that spot, so we took it down to move to a new area. Checked the cam in the area we thought the blind should go. NO pics. Ground blind is now left at a base of a tree not set up! Indecision sucks at this time of the year.     This is not my situation but lets play this out since we can do better than 10 ages! You have 25 acres that borders public land in Conneticut where baiting is legal prior to the season(I think all bait must be removed prior to hunting season- correct me if I am wrong) . Would you dump your bait on the Ct side and sit/hunt your proprty in NY?

    Wait...you guys have strategies? I just get in my tree/any tree and sit with a HUGE smile on my face that I am back in the woods!!! Maybe that's why I harvest so few deer!
