  1. It's not the bear but the Sasquatchs I'm worried about!
  2. I am heading to Lagrange, Maine next Sunday for my first bear hunt with a bow,....fired up! Just nice to think about hunting this early
  3. Going on a bear hunt (with a bow) in Maine. Want to wear a holster for a sidearm but need some recommendations for an accessible holster while wearing a safety harness. Any recommendations?
  4. When someone said, "but only if....." A favorite response has been, "IF the queen had balls, she'd be king." Or, "if If's and but's were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas."
  5. I see a set in sportsman guide called us military surplus rainsuit(53.99) made of waterproof polyurethane-coated 100% rip stop nylon- frogg togg are made of "three layers of polyprolene and a center of microporous film" (whatever the hell that allow means!!!) Anyone know what polyurethane SOUNDS LIKE?
  6. I bought some frogg toggs in anticipation of a Maine bear hunt this coming fall. Seems like high quality and sturdy...BUT...they are noisy as hell. I may be asking too much but is there a quality rain suit that is quiet?
  7. Splitting the arrow through the knife blade was pretty damn cool too.
  8. I absolutely can picture the old carpet being durable enough...I just can't picture how I can get the "shower curtain" effect on it when it is not in use. It is will be in my backyard that doubles as a seating area around a firepit(obviously when it is not a range!). If it is too ugly/cumbersome SHE is not gonna let that slide!
  9. What about a few layers of painters tarps?
  10. Can anyone recommend some type of fabric material that I can place behind my bag target that will stop an arrow with field points? I am hoping to hang it like a curtain that I can tie up when not in use. Honestly it is smoothly for when my son shoots- I just picked him up a compound which is only set to 25 pounds so the arrows are not exactly smoking down range.
  11. I don't know who you talk to but they give some faulty advice! Welcome aboard!
  12. My buddy shot a spike in westchester on 12/30 which we dragged out via the horns...nowhere near loose yet in westchester.
  13. Santa is squeezing a Bear bow down the chimney this Christmas for my twin 9 year olds. I can't wait to set them up!
  14. Rolling Stones...sympathy for the devil or paint it black....shot my first deer and biggest still the morning after both songs played on the ride up. Played them ever since
  15. Is 40 a lot? He'll, I pick that many off my dog after bird hunting early season...PITA! I try to hang any deer over a tarp (corners pullued up a bit) so the ticks that do fall off while deer cools don't go running around the backyard where it hangs

    Rut-less?

Why can't they all just do what the magazines say they are supposed to be doing!

    Rut-less?

Had two nice bucks (one a 6 , the other a pretty 8)hanging out together the other night. One absolutely shredded a tree as the other munched acorns. Whie they didn't get close enough for a shot, I was surprised to see how casual they were with each other at this point in the year. I was hoping to see them battle a bit and then walk into my lane- neither happened- would you take that as a sign that the ladies ain't ready yet?
  18. Leaving a half hour before legal seems excessive. Some of my best opportunities(I suck so they are not kills!) come during that magic 1/2 hour. After legal shooting light passes still leaves plenty of traveling light.
  19. Damn pleased with these! They are really good fresh from the oil and I am planning on bringing them for tomorrow's lunch(full day sit to honor the vets!) to see how they fare at room temp/cool. Recipe is below-I did some substituting- dried figs instead of dates, heavier on the allspice and cayenne pepper...sesame seeds instead of pumpkin seeds- whatever I had on hand). http://rupertsathotelmccall.com/2013/03/venison-empanadas-2/
  20. ...on his last legs...whack his a$$!
  21. $3.09 at Costco in Westchetser county
