Buying ammo in Vermont
steve863 replied to grampy's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I don't get that. Why would they check ID for .22 ammo over any other ammo? And why would they ask for a pistol permit? Would they not sell you .22 ammo without a pistol permit?? I don't think you could be denied .22 ammo, if you are of age to buy ammo, and meet any other requirement that the state may want. I simply couldn't imagine any state requiring a pistol permit to buy it, when I'm sure the vast majority of .22 ammo is fired thru rifles. -
If this guy advertises on the websites Papist and VJP read, he may have even more customers! LOL

Buying ammo in Vermont
steve863 replied to grampy's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
If you aren't someone who looks 16 years old, most states don't ask for any ID to buy ammo, so how would they know if you are a VT resident or from somewhere else?? Just pay for it and leave, and you are done. -
Some country music songs have some funny titles. I remember one way back titled "Jesus drop kicked me thru the goalpost" And another one titled, "Riding my thumb to Mexico". That ride must've hurt! LOL

That was the point I was trying to make last year, when I said that the LI hunters are not getting the job done. I realize there are some road blocks for the hunters out there, the biggest being access to private land, but if they continue passing up does and fawn just to wait for those big bucks, this is what can happen. Of course some had a cow over the statements I made. I will say it again, LI in general is piss poor habitat for deer. Seeing them die like this may appear cruel to some, but if it will bring down some deer numbers that the hunters aren't bringing down, it might not be a bad thing in the scheme of things. At least the hunters can't bitch that high priced snipers were called in for the jobs they could have done, or should I say COULDN'T get done.

Dear God, 16??? After 4 or 5, when did your folks even find the time to make no. 6 thru 16? Unbelievable!!!!!

It has been said that a man who does not marry is incomplete. However, if he does he is then finished.

Browning BAR .308 Accuracy issues
steve863 replied to ApexerER's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
This seems very bizarre to me. To have one fly completely off the target, while the rest are within a 2-3 inch group seems highly unusual. What could be launching this flyer into a different direction at random like that? I know most of you guys suffering thru these accuracy problems don't want to hear this, but my solution to accuracy problems with a semi-auto is to get a bolt-action. These days you don't get very many that don't have at least minute of deer accuracy and in most cases a whole lot more. Not very many bad ones out there, even the inexpensive ones. Some of those can be just as accurate as the high-end ones, so what more does one need to know? If you want a gun that will shoot from the get go, get a bolt-action. -
Gun Shops Closing
steve863 replied to fasteddie's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I would think that most of these small gun shops who have now gone out of business were probably floundering well before the SAFE act. The problem is that the big stores have taken things over and have put many small hardware stores out of business. The reality is how many guns does someone really need? Yes, there are some who like to buy many, but these people are in the minority and won't be keeping the small shops afloat forever. A typical hunter probably has enough guns already to hunt with the rest of his life, and keep his grandkids hunting with them 50 years from now. A .30-06 made 50 years ago is no less deadly than one made today. With the minimal of care a gun can last several lifetimes, so that is the death sentence to many gun shops in my opinion. Selling only ammo won't keep anyone afloat for long, and this tactical gun stuff is nothing more than a fad that is fading fast. The difference with bow shops is that archers change equipment more than some people change socks, so they are probably doing better than the gun shops. For the time being anyway. -

I have NO doubt that some are finding it more entertaining than most other posts around here of late. -

I know name calling is looked down upon here, but you are an idiot nonetheless. I wholeheartedly and happily call you that! LOL Go back to our posts here. You accused me of being jealous of you, so I brought up your stupid a$$ed penned deer. Is it not the deer farm and ALL the money you make from it that YOU think I'm jealous of, or is it something else?? It can't possibly be the mullet?? As usual, you start this deer farm crap one way or another. -

No, YOU keep bringing them up, and how canned hunts are where hunting will eventually go. The rest of us keep telling you that it's only a figment of your imagination and wishful thinking on your part. You can sue us for that if you don't like it. Go ahead and send me all these PM's you get about me. Probably shouldn't take you too long. LOL -

Yes, I make NO bones of my distaste for anyone who makes hunting to be ALL about antlers and money. If you want to call that a "crush", knock yourself out!! -

Oh man, this is funny! I've asked this before, what should I be jealous of? Your mullet?? You sell a few freakin penned up deer and you think your face and mullet should be pictured under the word capitalism? Please spare us. The only FACTS that do NOT need any backing is that you know WAY less than you give yourself credit for. You keep talking and we keep laughing. -

I'm not reading anything into your posts. You've made things perfectly clear time and time again of where you think hunting should go and what YOU think it's all about. I and many others here think you're delusional, but you of course can keep talking all the nonsense you want. You can keep thinking that you know everything, while the rest of us become more and more certain that you know squat! LOL -

Dude, with every post you make it becomes more and more evident that nothing would make you happier than if there was NO gun season at all in this state. If it were up to you it would be bowhunting only and the rest could take a hike. -
As usual, you think it should all revolve around antlers. You need to rent a U-Haul and load it up with your freak deer and move to Ohio then, since it's all about antlers over there!
-
If you guys want a shorter gun season like the one week long season (which must be a total madhouse) in Ohio, then the guns are surely being squeezed out of the picture. I could care less for a 4 month bow season. I prefer to have a few weeks of gun and be done with things. I and most others don't have an unlimited amount of time to hunt. Make the gun season one week, and many will say "to hell with it all". They surely won't be picking up a bow or crossbow to make up for things when it typically takes a lot more time to collect a deer with one of these weapons. Time that most of us DON'T have.
-
Yeah, I've heard it before where people say that the 2nd amendment has nothing to do with hunting, but if you think that this state wouldn't come up with ideas to eliminate high powered scoped rifles and other such guns if somehow gun hunters weren't creating revenue for the state thru hunting license sales you better think again. I'm sure the biggest reason that hunting type guns haven't been targeted by the anti-gunners is that they damned well know that the state would lose BIG money if hunters were not allowed to own them and use them for hunting. Take gun hunters out of the picture with bowhunters doing ALL the deer killing and it's open season on the guns that hunters use. I'll say it again, you better be careful what you wish for.
-
Be careful what you wish for. That would spell the end of ALL gun ownership in this state for sure. Hell, if the bowhunters would be doing the majority of the deer killing why would anyone then need a gun of any kind??
-
One needs only to come to this forum to see how unified an army of hunters would be. It would be a band of misfits and nothing more. They probably couldn't march their way out of a paper bag, nevermind march into battle. The only marching they'd do is to the nearest saloon, and they'd probably need an ATV to get there since they can't seem to walk too far on foot! LOL
-
Looks like there may just be statewide Antler Restricts.

It's a 4X Leupold. I'm not Pygmy, but anyone here could answer your question for him. LOL -
Yeah, then this kid tells his 10 year old buddy whose parents abide by the law and plan to take him hunting when he is of legal age that he shot a deer. How will that pan out? Absolutely mind boggling that you guys would allow your kids first deer to be an illegal one. Bending the rules for yourself is one thing, but starting a kid off on the wrong foot with their first kill is as bad as it gets. Don't give a crap who this offends either.

I always wondered why they called it "menstruate". Does it somehow keep men "straight" since their wives are off limits for a few days? As in men trying to be good during the menstruation days anticipating what's to come afterwards. Or maybe the "straight" part means that the men will be driven into a "straight" jacket during this time of the month?? I reckon it's one or the other.
