  1. I just ordered a Hoyt Carbon Spyder 34 a couple weeks ago. I shot all the new bows this year and the Hoyt Carbons were the best for me. Everyone likes different things about bows so its best to test out as many as you can before buying. I put on a lot of miles this winter driving around to different shops to shoot them. I even drove an hour away to shoot the Carbon Spyder Turbo after I had already shot the Carbon Spyder 30 at another shop. I just wanted to see if it felt any different than the other Carbons, and it did. Wasn;t for me, so I went with the 34
  2. Yep, anyone that says they purposely gut shoot deer is a tool!
  3. LOL...I thought it was gonna be the bow I put on there. It just makes mine look better! http://syracuse.craigslist.org/spo/4367206291.html
  4. Nice find! Where the heck do you live not to have any snow? Theres still a bunch at my house.
  5. The Merino Wool is very lightweight stuff as far as wool goes. Its probably equivalent to the polar fleece in weight, plus it don't strangle the life out of you like UA does. I just wish I could find it in tall sizes!
  6. Yep, the animal lovers would rather see deer starve in the winter because theres too many of them and not enough food rather than let you hunt them. Not to mention all the ones getting hit by cars too. I see this happening where I live. All these deer behind my house are starving because nobody lets you hunt around here. I did find it ironic this summer when my daughters boyfriend hit a deer down the street from my house right in front of one of the people who don't let anyone hunt. The cop came out and shot the deer and left it in the ditch right in front of the anti's house. That's what happens when no hunting is allowed.
  7. If someone breaks into my house I'm shooting before they have a chance to use deadly force! The laws are so screwed up its not even funny. When you choose to commit a crime like that, you shouldn't have any rights protecting you. Just look at those 3 kids that broke into the guys house in Granby and stabbed him to death recently. Now, if that guy shot and killed those 3 kids he woulda probably went to jail. Unfortunately, he didn't have a gun and now he's dead. He was screwed either way!
  8. The deer around my house have all herded up in my backyard and the woods behind my house. For the last 2 weeks theres been anywhere from 20-30 deer behind my house. They come into my yard in the broad daylight to eat my wifes birdseed!
  9. My son said they were discussing this in his criminal justice class the other day. According to his professor, you have a legal right to shoot anyone who breaks into your home while you are there..armed or not. I would hope the professor knows what he was talking about because he's also a retired police officer but you never know.
  10. Small rubber O rings. Works like a charm and does not effect arrow flight whatsoever. They break right away when arrow impacts its target. Just put the O rings around the blades where you would squeeze them with your fingers to keep them closed.
  11. A couple of days ago I looked out my back window and saw at least 30 deer in my yard and the woods. This is the most I've seen back there since I moved here. They must be herded up behind my house so they can eat our bird seed and dig up the apples under the neighbors apple trees. They're getting so desperate now they are coming out in the middle of the day and eating my wife bird seed! We need a thaw!
  12. Looks like it works just like my Mathews Arrow Web quiver. Does it just twist off? I'm also wondering how these work with the HHA one pin dial sights? Some quivers need a special bracket with them.
  13. I do 95% of my deer scouting in the spring before Turkey season. I'm always on the lookout for turkey sign while I'm out. Whenever I find an area that's being used pretty heavily by Turkeys, it usually turns out to be a pretty good spot to hunt them in May. They wont be far from where they are hangin out in March & April.
  14. That's not what I said. Maybe it was misunderstood. I'm saying if you're a really good shot, more than likely you'll compete with a bow or gun. Theres more money in it and notoriety. Who the hell grows up saying " I wanna be the best crossbow shooter in the world"? By process of elimination, the better shots wont be in the crossbow division. I think Levi Morgan could outshoot anybody with his compound, including crossbow shooters. I'm sure they all practice a lot.
  15. I just bought a Hoyt Carbon Spyder 34. I'm looking for a quiver that detaches without having to unscrew it. Are either the Tightspot or Treelimb like this?
  16. You probably have better shooters shooting a bow than you do a crossbow. That's probably why I've never seen a crossbow shooter at a 3D shoot, there just aren't many of them. Most guys that get into competition shooting either shoot a bow or a gun. I'd bet if I put as much time into shooting a crossbow as I do a compound, I could shoot a lot better and further with the crossbow. I wonder if the guys shooting crossbow in competition have to shoot freehand or do they have a rest of some sort? That could have a lot to do with it too.
  17. Whoever said this is an idiot. A good hunter is a good hunter. Weapon don't matter. It might make the shot a little easier but you still have to be where they are.
  18. Honestly, I think he was joking. And I'm sure people have been wrong on here before as I have. No harm, no foul. Nobody is undermining the forum as you say so get off your high horse!
  19. Well then, I think everyone has undermined the forum at one time or another.
  20. After doing a little looking around, I have found that ASA and IBO do allow crossbows. I just have never seen any at the 3D shoots and no mention of them there either so I just figured they weren't allowed. I can admit when I'm wrong, my bad.
