  1. The problem I see with bow tests today is that they seem biased one way or another. You cant take someones word for how a bow feels to him. Also, the magazines that do the comparisons always favor the bows that advertise in said magazine. I haven't shot a Mathews that I liked since the Z7 came out but these bows always are near the top in the tests. Money talks for magazines. There are guys on AT who try sometimes but I have yet to see an apples to apples comparison where the bows were the same poundage, draw length and shooting the exact same grain arrow through the same chronograph. I also have my doubts about how well tuned these bows are that they use. I think a lot of them are right off the rack. You will also only get a true feel for the draw, valley and wall by drawing the bow yourself. I've seen guys say the Omens draw was smooth. That draw to me is anything but smooth, it wants to rip your arm off if you even think of creeping! Best advice.....go shoot as many as you can before buying.
  2. 8 inches of snow here last night. Spring cant get here soon enough. I'm about sick of all this snow!
  3. 7 years is a really good amount of time to get out of strings and cables. I replace mine every 2-3 years and guys who shoot a ton replace them every year.
  4. Smother it in your favorite BBQ sauce, wrap with bacon held on with toothpicks and cook it on the grill
  5. I'd like to own the entire chunk of woods behind my house. Unfortunately, I only own 2 acres. The square mile in Iowa idea don't sound too bad either!
  6. Nice!! My buddy has been getting them through the ice on Owasco
  7. I cant stand the way the guy on channel 9 here in Syracuse talks. I cant understand a thing he says! I know he has MS and all that but could they put a guy on who you could understand?
  8. True...he seems to be one of those people that likes to hear himself speak, so he'll be heard no matter which side he's on
  9. The point is, he shouldn't be saying those things in public. If he had a little couth, maybe people would be more apt to listen instead of thinking he's a raving lunatic and all gun owners must be like him. Myself, as a gun owner, would not say the crap he does and it has nothing to do with having balls. The guy is nuts, plain and simple! How do you think he avoided the draft?
  10. He does absolutely nothing to deter the notion that gun owners are a bunch of lunatics. I think he does more harm than good, not to mention he's a draft dodger and self proclaimed child molester.
  11. They come to my wifes bird feeder every day to eat. Am I feeding them illegally?
  12. Hmmm. I may have to give that Heavyweight stuff a try! Gotta find a good turkey choke for my gun first.
  13. This might be a dumb question but isn't #7 shot out of a 20 gauge kinda light for Turkeys? I'm shooting 3.5" #5 shot out of my 12 gauge.
  14. I can just picture you sitting there looking like Winnie the Pooh in the snow.
  15. I want to go but the wife wont get on a plane!
  16. I think what happens is what makes them drop their horns is a drop in testosterone. This drop in testosterone makes it so they cant breed. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule.
  17. Watch the first few minutes of this video. He talks about a study the NYSDEC did. Some does are bred in March!
  18. I didn't even know he was ordering a light. If I had, I would have told him to check yours out.
  19. It did, it was a cheap velcro strap. Didn't work for crap!
  20. Yep....an archery shop that's closed on Friday afternoon. Brilliant! Mathews must be proud to have him sell their bows.
  21. None of the shops around here touch my bow. If I cant fix it, my brother can.
  22. No kidding! He gets a double dose of idiots today!
  23. My son & I took a ride up to Gander Mountain today to buy a few things. We were gonna spend about $100 each if they had everything we wanted. Needless to say, they didn't. I wanted to get a red dot scope for my turkey gun, which they had, but they didn't have a mounting rail for it that would fit my gun(which is the most popular shotgun out there). I also wanted to get a Turkey choke for my gun. None of them there either. So, we looked for the stuff my son wanted. He needed a mount to mount the VLR-1 light he got to his gun. Now, they had a whole aisle of tactical lights for guns but not one mount! Guess they just expect you to use duct tape. My son also wanted to get a bi-pod for his gun. All they had were the Primos shootin sticks. By this point we were both disgusted and went to pay for my scope. The lady at the cash register informs me that I can buy the protection plan for the scope for $5. I informed her that if it was broke I would return it anyways. She said they wont let me return it unless I paid the $5 fee, that I would have to return it to the manufacturer! At this point I told her to keep the friggin scope and give me my money back and that I will spend my money at their competitors from now on. So, off I went and bought the same scope at their competitor on my way home. And to top it off, I didn't need to pay a $5 fee just in case I needed to return it! Gander will never see another dime from me. Seems like they have quite the scam going there. Nothing like standing behind the products you sell!
  24. Unfortunately, there are a lot of stupid people out there and its only getting worse!
  25. I'd like to get a recurve just to mess around with. Looks like fun.
