  1. Hmmmmm...that's news to me. Of all the 3D shoots I've ever been to, I've never seen a crossbow.
  2. This is it in a nutshell. Guys who have private land with restricted access may not even notice a difference but you can tell me that on small parcels and public land you wont see a noticeable difference in the amount of pressure during Archery season. Pressure isn't just a guy sitting in a stand with a X Bow near you, its also everything else that goes on with a sudden influx of hunters into the woods. This has absolutely nothing to do with someone else shooting "my" deer in my eyes. Heck, I let friends and family sit in my stands all the time and would be happier than a pig in crap if one of them were to shoot a whopper out of my stand. This is all about Archery season turning more like gun season when X Bows are allowed, and I cant stand gun season. Also, if X bows are archery equipment, how come there isn't a crossbow division in the ASA and IBO shoots? I respect everyones opinion on X Bows but I think the majority of guys that don't have a problem with them are the ones who will use them themselves and those who wont see any effect pressure wise because they are hunting rater large chunks of private land.
  3. If you ever saw a Ferrett run, this is how a Fisher runs.Kinda hopping along. They are much larger though and dark brown/black.
  4. Couldn't agree more!!! Too bad you'll probably be called every name in the book by most on here for having/giving your honest opinion.
  5. I saw one while bowhunting this year. It came by at about 25 yards. I took me a few minutes to figure out what the heck it was. Pretty cool though!
  6. They wont have their own season, they'll be allowed in all seasons.
  7. Says the guy who probably hunts private land I really love it when someone don't agree with you they pull out the "you're ignorant" or the "you're all butthurt" card. Some people need to grow up!
  8. He's just trying to explain how adding a loop don't change your draw length, it changes your anchor point. If you add a loop, you have to find a comfortable anchor point with it. You can lengthen or shorten the loop a little to get that anchor point perfect. Adding a loop wont make you have bad form, unless your loop is 3 inches long.
  9. What two points? Do you even have a point? Your draw length is your draw length...adding a loop don't change that! It changes your anchor point.
  10. WOW!!!!! You cant be serious dude? Did you read the whole thread? If not, I suggest you do so! Someone even drew pictures for you guys with no reading comprehension!
  11. OK, I may be just beating my head against the wall here but let me try to take a stab at explaining it. To find your draw length, you measure your wingspan and divide it by 2.5....correct? Once this is established, it don't change unless your wingspan grows or shrinks drastically. Putting a D loop on your bow does not change your wingspan, thus your draw length don't change. This is the best way I can explain it. If you don't get it, I don't know what else to tell you.
  12. Then it would be wise for these people to try to listen to a more qualified individual on here instead of arguing with them...............BTW I made it 15 pages before jumping in!
  13. We'll be wearing snow camo turkey hunting this year!
  14. LOL!....I see they have sucked you into this debate
  15. That archery range is under water half the time when I drive by it. They need to put it somewhere else.
  16. Reading comprehension must not be a high priority with some of you guys...... These comparisons involve deer killed with mechanical broadheads only from 2007 on, but with fixed-blade broadheads going back all the way to 1989. Is that fair? Could it be that the efficiency and accuracy of compound bows and crossbows are higher since 2007, after mechanical broadheads were allowed on the hunts? Andy, being an admitted data geek, had anticipated that question. He separated fixed-blade recovery rates into pre- and post-mechanical eras. There was no statistically significant difference. Recovery rates with fixed-blade broadheads shot from compound bows were 82.2 percent from 1989 to 2006 and 81.0 percent from 2007 to 2012
  17. Basically, hunting shows are nothing more than a half hour long infomercial. You might see a 10 minute clip of someone shooting a deer at a deer farm.
  18. Another hunt that stands out to me besides the hunt where I killed the buck in my avatar is one where my brother shot a nice 7 point during archery one morning. We looked and looked for that deer with no luck so we decided to go to the local diner and get something to eat. While sitting there I was thinking about the dog on the road where he was hunting and how it was standing in the road barking at something across the street when I was driving down it. I thought maybe he was barking at my brothers deer so we got permission from the landowner to go look in the tall goldenrod field and my brother found him laying dead about 100 yards off the road!
  19. I have not seen any good comparisons lately that I did not have questions about. Maybe you should take over his testing Doc
  20. My first buck with a bow at age 14 stands out. I was sitting in an Apple orchard and 3 six points walked by at 20 yards and I shot the biggest one. My favorite memory was when my son got his first buck with the bow when he was 15.
  21. I saw a group of 5 deer this winter standing right on the edge of the road eating something. I figured it was just the salt but I'll bet it was this new mixture.
  22. I'd like to know what it is too. I've shot most new bows this year and am leaning towards one of the Hoyt Carbons. Just don't know if I want the Carbon Spyder Turbo or 34.
  23. Affordable health care my ass! This is not what the country wanted when they voted him in. They wanted something like Canada has where its free. They ended the Space Shuttle program so why not use that money to fund healthcare?
