  1. If a deer is in the mood and you peak it's curiosity with a grunt, it'll come. MANY times, I've been sitting with no action, give a couple blind grunts out of pure boredom, and have bucks come sneaking OR running/charging in to me! The buck that I called in last year, I was thankful I was in a tree, because as aggressive as he came in, he might have either kicked my ass or had his way with me! Can sure turn an uneventful hunt into a memorable one!
  2. Certainly not a new item, but I always have a good realistic sounding grunt call with me! I dare say that 50+% of the bucks that I've killed during bow season, I grunted in.
  3. Let 'er rip!! Been doing it for years when I fire up my mock scrapes.
  4. WAYYY to close to hunting season to be pissing off the boss.........errrr....... I mean the old lady. (Just don't tell her I called her that.... )
  5. Machinist - I have an 8F for you. PM me with info.
  6. WOW!! That's very impressive! Awful hot here this week also. Weatherman is saying high temps of 65-70 from this Saturday to next Saturday anyways. I'll try to send some your way! LOL
  7. Nice! Austin was telling me that you saw few. He's jealous! LOL Good luck!
  8. PLEASE be in 8F!!!! If it's less than 3", I gotta DMP that's just burning a hole in my pocket!!!
  9. Cool greg! Is this the first bear you've seen in the area?
  10. Typical vs. non-typical! Decisions, decisions! Good luck this season! Can't wait to see you with your hero pose behind one of those bad boys!! Be sure to smile!!
  11. Curious, what would you guess his age to be? LOL
  12. I've been bowhunting for 34 years. I dare say that I've stood for every deer that I've ever shot with a bow. Be prepared for either situation (standing or sitting), but shoot however you're most comfortable with. There is no right or wrong way.
  13. Not 100% sure if I ever filled out or submitted the NYS FOIL Opt-Out form, so I thought I would now. What is a valid reason that I should write for my exemption request? Don't think they would like my, "Because it's no ones F'n business!" http://www.troopers.ny.gov/Firearms/Public_Records_Exemption/FOIL_Exemption_Form.pdf
  14. Nice catch! Don't get those in my neck of the woods!
  15. My max is 25 yards. I'm dead nuts out to 25, but that's my limit and I'm fine with that.
  16. I grew up hunting in PA. I knew a few women and kids that used .220 Swifts and .222's for deer. The bloodtrails that I saw from them were bloodbaths, believe it or not! Never went far! Granted, there are bigger calibers (and better choices) out there, but the .220's and .222's got the job done, for a quick clean kill.
  17. I do the same thing. I always have my snippers with me when I go to check cams. Keeps trails nice.
  18. He's a dandy wooly!! When I saw the first pic, my jaw dropped! I thought he had one hell of a drop tine on his drivers side!!! THEN, I scrolled down and realized it was just something in the background! DUH!!
  19. I agree. Cam pics from last week kind of proves that too. The neighboring farmer has been doing a lot of work clearing the other side of this cornfield to make it larger. They've been running tractors, trailers, bobcats, bulldozers, UTV's, and vehicles up and down along the edge of the corn 50x/day hauling logs and stumps out of there. 33 min after his last trip of the day, got pics of a doe and 2 fawns walking the same path that the equipment used, and they didn't seem the least bit concerned.
  20. Cool looking buck. Daytime pics are encouraging!
  21. I'm getting a lot of activity around my crabapples also. It seems like the deer are checking the crabapples in the early evening, to be the first ones there to get dibs on any apples that have fallen during the day while they were snoozing! Like a "Free while supplies last" kinda deal! LOL
  22. Core. I have a brand new Live Wire Descent System. Rated up to 225lbs. If you would like to pick it up, it's yours.
  23. A few years ago, I was out checking cams, I decided to kill 2 birds with 1 stone and check stands while I was out. I always wore a safety vest, but since I didn't plan on checking stands that day, I didn't have it.... Long story short, I fell 20' and broke my right foot in 3 places (my foot took most of the impact falling straight down). I had multiple surgeries over the next couple of years. This is a pic after the last surgery. Foot and ankle so swollen it looks like they could bust open! Looked like an elephants foot! ALL because I was in a hurry and I thought, "It's just one time and I'll be careful. I know how lucky I was, but believe me, I suffered for years! Do yourselves and your family a favor and wear those safety harnesses!!! Accidents happen!! Trust me, it's NOT worth it!!
